First I've heard of this through a Reddit reply, so sharing:
Psa: If you come across a ragequitter who doesn't have a purple name, you can go to their player card and mark them (I don't remember what button but it will be displayed at the bottom of the screen)

Doing this will have their name appear red for you.

I feel my team (18/21/tien) just don't have good enough assist power compared to other teams. I really wish this game had multiple assists, I'd change android 18 and 21's assist move in a heartbeat.

God, I've played around 30 matches today and haven't won a single one. I'm either getting my ass blown up or any time I get close to a win, the opponent just disconnects... Is there any punishment for them ragequitting or is it totally free?

Their name will turn purple if they do it often enough, but other than that there's no penalty. It's completely laughable that Bamco/ArcSys released a fighting game in 2018 with no real rage quitting penalty, IMO. They should be catching more flack for that plus ring matches still being buggy as heck.

I get disconnected from the lobby often. Does that count against me? It doesn't happen on any other game but for some reason I frequently disconnect on this one

I don't know the answer to that one. But if it's happening very often to you, and your name still isn't purple, then you're probably fine and it's not counting those as rage quits.

Super dash while they're in the air, instant dash with a follow up L. If they block then they're locked into blockstun and you get to your mixups. If they don't, you hit and you do 40-60% damage. This works with nearly all of the cast. The only one you really have to watch out for is 21, who's j.2H is very quick and can blow up superdash in the air.
Thanks, I'll try that. Never thought about continuing pressure after a blocked homing dash.

Holy shit seven bars for blocking a ki attack backed by an assist using ki blasts? I think you folks who were worried about Vegeta assist just found your hard counter with barrier. Plus thats her assist move too.
Been nosing around Kid Buu lately BTW. Dude has some of the easiest confirms I've ever seen. All his stuff is half screen and even his air tools go into combo. I'm pretty certain a simple heavy heavy launcher into standard jump cancel sequence with him can be extended several times longer in the air than normal if you time his ki shot and abuse teleports or possibly dragon rush at some point given that his ki blast stops him falling and fires below himself allowing him to pop folks back up in the air. I wanna try labbing Kid Buu air combos into Tien's air super for a double air super. Kid Buu just feels like he can keep things goin pretty long. He's pure rushdown though. Guy feels naked without horizontal beam coverage given he chucks ki at odd angles. He's got the nice mashable triangle low kicks though. Simply roll QCB and hit it three times and you Shang Tsung bounce them to you like the old skull blast tricks from MK lol.

God this game is fun. Every day I find stuff that gets me runnin down avenues for new combos and setups. The whole cast is great.

Actually saw a player who definitely shouldn't have a blue square fighting in Ranked. Possibly intentionally gave it to himself through Ring Matches or Casual Matches so that people wouldn't deny him in Ranked. Smart.

I finally hit pink on PS4 yesterday (been pink on Xbox for awhile) and I'm worried I'll get even less matches now. People were already ducking when I was red/orange... :(

Whens the best time to use Ginyus Ginyu force? It seems dangerous to try and call one out on neutral..

If you have good assists, you want to start a block string (I go for the full LL,2M,M, 236L) and call one assist right as it ends to keep the opponent in block stun. At this point I call two Ginyu Force unless I'm up to Jeice already. I then use the block stun from both GF calls to go in for a mixup and another full block string that ends with the second assist call and two more GF calls.

If I space the two GF calls so that there's a brief period with no block stun, my assists start to recharge. With very precise timing I will finish my second block string by the time my first assist is back up so I can repeat the process. If I haven't opened them up by then, that's on me.

If they block really well, I'll toss in a Dragon Rush between GF calls when they're not in block stun.

GF Call Preference
  • Guldo - S (only use QCF S in the corner or when I want to use a Vanish mixup)
  • Recoome - QCF S
  • Burter - S (only use QCF S if I'm worried they'll launch me, which is rare)
  • Jeice - QCF S
GF Pair Calling
  • Guldo + Recoome
  • Recoome + Burter

Threat colour is really confusing me.

I've been dark green for so long but I have a +60% win rate in ranked and yesterday I won 20/30 of my ranked fights.

Still dark green.

Beating someone of the same color boosts you the most, but you still get a boost from beating someone of a higher color. As far as I can tell, you get little to no boost from beating someone below your color. However, if you lose to someone below your color it knocks you down a lot, and if you lose to someone of the same color it drops you quite a bit as well.

This is not 100% accurate, but it's my best guestimation:
  • Same Color Win = +1.0/20
  • Higher Color Win = +0.75/20
  • Lower Color Win = +0.10/20
  • Same Color Loss = -1.0/20
  • Higher Color Loss = -0.50/20
  • Lower Color Loss = -1.25/20
How do people here feel about Vegeta vs Vegeta Blue? I haven't given Blue much time at all but he looks kinda cool, wondering if he's worth the investment. Either way I want Vegeta on my team.

SSJ Vegeta
Better Assist
Better Super Versatility
Better Use of Meter
Invincible DP

SSB Vegeta
Better Damage
Better Mix-ups off Flying Kick
Cooler Animations

What's the best way to do this? I just had someone rage quit on me and I had to scroll through the ranked list to find him since the match didn't show up in my match history. Is there a better way to do it?

Oh right, if someone rage quits on you and it was match #1 in the set, they won't even be in your match history for a quick way to get in their profile. There might not be, then.

Android 18's barrier is peculiar, but good. It's worth noting that she can super cancel it when it absorbs a hit. What this means is that if an opponent attempts to do a blockstring and the barrier is up, she can immediately cancel it into a level 3 to punish them.

Do Ring Matches count for threat color? I was messing around with some buddies and am wondering if that hurt my standing.

Yeah allow me to jump in and disagree, the barrier is really awful.

They nerfed it to oblivion. It also doesn't block dragon rush.

As far as I can tell, Ring Matches are the only matches that don't count toward color. Everything else does.

Are you sure about that ?
I went from orange to pink and I quit ranked for now. I don't play much arena either.

In fact I know for a fact my icon changed while i was in a ring match but maybe it's not updated in real time.

edit :

WTF ????

Why is 17 the main ???

So is that M+H > double tap forward? Or are you supposed to land first

So I have taken an interest in TGohan since he seems to play very different from most of the cast

Is there a player I should look for reference and approach to neutral and such? I know he is not very popular but there must be someone using him

False; I'm a yellow square on PC and have exclusively done ring matches against friends. They played ranked and had a square color before I fought them, though.

http://steamcommunity.com/id/uraizen/stats/appid/678950/achievements

Then one of the updates changed it. When I first started playing on Xbox I only played Ring Matches and had no color at all. When I went back to Xbox it still took me 30 ranked matches to get my color.

Not sure why they'd make a change like that. It just makes it easier to drop your color (or raise it).

Definitely makes it easier to go lower, but it does work without having to play anything else.

I haven't seen any pro player using him, probably because he is the worst character in the game...well, for now at least, although I don't see that changing anytime soon. I use him as anchor, he has a few corner to corner combos and good damage but everything else he has just sucks. His best normal is 2M but it is not amaizing compared to the other 2Ms out there.

Here is come tech with him, though the timing for most of this is pretty strict so doing it online will require some practice https://twitter.com/i/moments/957644785849962497

Hey thanks mate, I found this video regarding his bomb loops, I havent practiced at all but it seems to be all about timing. Still need to pick his teammates, I want him on point, probbly with Trunk and Tien behind him (If you are interested check the vid description for a doc with more info)

I was actually looking for that video to post it here :P On the twitter link I posted there is some t.gohan/tien tech that should be useful.

Lol, just fought a pink square with 1100 matches played. I always had way more than my opponents with just 600 matches played lol. And how do you get so many matches with a pink square??? People keep dodging me with just an orange square. They really need to remove the squares from view when accepting a ranked match.
