Looking at the trophies, it looks like the crown ones are the hardest/rarest. What are those? How/where do I get them? & can I check to see how many I currently have?
The crowns are related to the size of the monsters. Abnormally large monsters give you a large gold crown when you beat them and abnormally small monsters give you a small gold crown when you beat them. You can check which crwons you have via your guild card. Some quests (like the current event "Deep Green Blues) give you a higher chance at getting crowns and some (like the Street Fighter event) guarantee a crown.

No. In high rank expeditions, there are various places you can find tempered elder dragon tracks... For example, Ancient Forest, in Rathalos nest, there should be some tempered Kushala wind scrapes... and the area in Wildspire Waste, around the sandpit area, there's tempered Teostra tracks. The process is time consuming, but it's better than nothing. Conversely, some have just been farming tempered Nerg tracks since he's like right outside the camp (11, I believe) and only travels around in that area, but that one requires you to have a tempered Nerg quest.

oh yeah, that kushala scratch was right there on the nest. So, whats the idea here, I go out, back in again, get that scratch, go out, back in again, etc, or does the scratch respawn after a bit?

sorry guys, just want to make sure, its kinda doing my head in :(

Did anyone ever get a capacity boost gem? Do they even exist? If it does, this little gem will change so many things about my CB builds :l

yeah got one so it exists

I'll definitely check out the "Deep Green Blues" quest -- can it drop large or small crowns, or does it just drop one or the other? Sadly I don't have a SFV save file on my PS4, so I'll miss this event. Hopefully future events will guarantee crowns as well.

It drops both.

Future events will have guaranteed crowns, for example the upcoming Mega Man event has you hunting gold crown small Odogaron.

So in the story I slayed Diablos and Rathalos for the first time now. Before I go visit the new area I am gonna do a lot of farming. I noticed that it took quite a while to kill a Tzitzi, are they higher level now in the older levels too?

Question: do i still get low rank rewards from hunting high rank monsters? I'm trying to get a Legiana webbing but it's listed only in low rank rewards

The save file requirement is just for early acces to he quest. It will be available to everyone at a later date. And even then I've been offering to host the quest for people a couple of times and so far nobody has shown any interest.

Don't worry about events. People said they will cycle back. Also, SFV event will be open to all soon. SFV save is just early access.

Not always, some parts are common between both but you might have to go back to LR to get some parts. Thankfully you'll find it really, really easy by then.

If you're having trouble getting to monsters on the map:
  • Search YouTube to learn all camp locations.
  • Learn where monster nests are and monster routes.
  • Once you spawn in, check your map. Where is the group leader? Place a tracker on them and/or fast travel to a camp near them.
  • Seriously abuse the fast travel mechanic. I'm on an X but it's so fast and convenient.
  • While you can track a specific monster by pressing R3 and selecting it, I find that actually opening the map and pressing R3 on the monster to track it is far more reliable in terms of scoutfly behavior.
Got my Nergal Impaler last night and also enough to build the final Garon lance. Still completely in love with the lance but considering trying out the gunlance.

They all have their uses. The flash cage is super useful. Plunder is great for farming materials. Horn is also great is you are good enough to manage your own heals and let the Palico buff you during a battle.

Also, it took me to the Xeno fight to really appreciate the slinger. Used it all game long to flash monsters but being able to knock Xeno from the sky with 2x stinger or dragon pods made that fight sooooo much. Ore manageable.

It's straight forward in most maps, it's mainly Ancient Forest that's badly designed, even if you know your way around, it still takes too long, there's just too many unnecessary corridors and verticality in that map.

Meowlotov, is very good. I notice my cat is way more aggressive, I'm not sure if its from him being level 30 or not though. There was a Nergigante hunt I had where I woke him up and my Gajalaka Tailraider and My Palico destroyed him in about a minute. I can't remember what I was doing but I know I was contributing much after I woke up the Nergigante.

My two tempered Betelgeuse hunt was kind of boring... Both of them ended up fighting each other and ran into the valley where the Gajalaka partners just curb stomped them with explosives. Most of their HP was gone by this point so about 2-3 minutes later they were both dead. It was the easiest multi-hunt mission I've probably played in the entire series.

Does anyone think the success of MHW will revive a bit of the population of 3U on Wii U? I think I''m going to pop that in again.

The Gunlance is very fun. I watched a "how to gunlance" video on Youtube to learn all the moves and once you get a handle on it it's capable of insane damage with similar defensive capabilities to the standard lance. I'd invest in some Artillery skills to really push the damage that much further.

Finally beat Tempered Kirin (lvl 49 mission) last night with a buddy. Took us 5 tries. What an asshole.

After the 3rd try I realized by two pieces of Nerg armor were VERY weak to thunder. I switched those out and ate for elemental resist and it made all the difference in the world.

By far the toughest fight i've come across in the game and I'd rather rip all of my ball hairs out one by one than ever do it again.

Been farming HR Rathian for the Ruby for the past 3 days and I just cannot get it. I am severing and carving the tail, Palico has plunderblade, and I'm running investigations with gold reward slots. This is comical how bad the drop rates are. I have over 20 Plates and not one Ruby.

It strikes me as odd since obtaining other HR gems/rubies took, on average and with optimal behaviours, 5-7 runs. Meanwhile, I have over 40 HR Rathian slays/caps from the past 3 days of farming.

Sorry but I can't find the details for the PSN sharing list in the OP, is there still one?

As much as I love the game I find my fun is playing it with others as often as I can (via SOS flares etc) and my friends list is barren of those actually playing Monster Hunter.

Is there a PSN Era squad or community?

My PSN is RecallBerserk. Cheers.

Have you tried the Legiana gear to get Legiana's Blessing? I feel like it's helping me farm.

I find it bizarre that the Melder exists, and was clearly intended to reduce gem/decoration grinds, yet she totally fails in that capacity.

The gem exchange item can only be obtained once a week, the decorations you can trade for are useless...

The toughest quests should have given golden prints.

Fought my first tempereds last night. Wanted to get the five done for the weekly special bounty.

So far I only went up against some of the "easier" monsters (Tobi, puffbat, Barroth, Pukei, and Rathian) but they really weren't as challenging as I thought theyd be. In fact, I finally made a decent chunk of change from SOS missions simply because no one wiped. Got all five knocked out in like 1-1.5 hours.

Tempered Jyuratodus is so damn easy. Literally destroyed it with 3 other guys in like 6-7 min each time. It was a capture investigation so we didn't want to accidentally kill it, heh Did it all 4 times for easy mats and levels.

Good point. I forgot to mention that I am running 2 pieces of the HR Legiana set for the Good Luck bonus. This only applies if you are host though, right? I have started running solo so that other people dont cap the Rathian since I need to focus on carves and breaking parts for the Ruby.

Oh shoot. You can get the Ruby from the Melder? I will check her out. Hopefully I have the mats!

Don't you need 3 pieces not 2 for it to work? Is it the lr or hr version? And yeah I think you need to be host.

About to go up against Xeno'jiiva for the first time! Any recommendations for which armor I should use? Looks like I need something high in Dragon defense?

None of the tempered monsters have been difficult for me. Haven't still played against tempered Elders though.

I'm giving LBG a try now. Which weapon do you prefer more bow or lbg? LBG just seems to be missing something to me.

I was into the Bow but it was just taking too long for me and I eventually screwed up by getting stunned and carted a bit too often by being greedy. LBG let's you be more mobile and do more DPS, imo. Use strong ammo and it will work out much better. Just restock ammo after every time it runs away. I'm kinda enjoying using LBG now as a result.

Sucks when you SOS for a random who didn't unlock all camps. Dat run back.

When someone hasn't unlocked camps and they join someone's game who has, they actually have the option of starting at those places. Afterwards you get the delivery mission to have it yourself. Honestly this is how I got the majority of mine before exploring the maps for myself. Them starting in the starter camp is mostly likely why I do as well...... When joining SOS you mash your way to quickly join the quest and that's the first option. Otherwise you wait a second later and you can't join since it's full.

3 for LR. 2 for HR. 3 HR gets you an additional bonus for Bows, IIRC. I have 2 HR pieces since I am a Long Sword user.

It certainly feels that way. It's really aggrivating because running it dozens of times is my way, as a player, of expressing clear intent (as well as having a weapon on my wishlist that requires the Ruby) that I would like a specific drop.
