Just watching the Giant Bomb quick look...wow they really just put the Tower from Destiny in there. That's actually kinda appealing to me, I like social spaces where you can take a breather in between matches.

So sad to read all this and see that Single-player is turning out so poor. I bought this game for the SP so... yeah. Yikes.

One thing I noticed though with all the videos flying around now is just how poor the particle/smoke/explosion/alpha effects still are in CoD. What is the deal with that? I know CoD has to make sacrifices to reach ~60ish FPS, but I mean Battlefield also shoots for ~60ish FPS and manages to have great special effects.

A lot of people clowned on DICE when initial marketing for BF1 was making fun of CoD's graphics calling them "last gen" but I mean, in the end DICE was kinda right. There are certain aspects of CoD that just refuse to get with the times... Graphics tech is one of them tbh.

Anywho, enough negativity on that front from me. I'll have my copy of this later in the evening... I hope I can find something redeemable about it.

I'm interested, D2 is good and all, just needs more incentives to make me want to play,

Probably pick this up depending on price.
Reached PL305 in D2 the day before last. No motivation to continue doing the same stuff over and over again. Raid is not for me, don't have the time and I couldn't stand the thought of doing any more public events, sometimes all alone. Waiting for the DLC, I guess.

CoD gives me the feeling of achieving at least a little bit each time I play - even if I fail, some XP I do get. In D2 it all felt so senseless.

Single player is poor? All the reviews say it's great. I played the first two missions and it is the best campaign I've played since COD2.

Yeah like all three characters are 305 for me done the raid, done trials, done pretty much all I want, I'll drop back to it here and there if I see a gun or something I really want, but I get you. There's a lot of games out ATM, going to watch a couple streams then make a choice on what to get.

I've had fun with the single player so far, to me nothing will top Black Ops 3 for worst CoD single player. It's the only one I haven't beaten.

Yup, I've got friends asking me to raid. But I'm like why? There's no reason to get stronger or do anything. However I think the sales for this game will be low leading to sales similar to last year.

So basically the single player is by the book ps2 era world war 2 fps with pretty graphics and the multiplayer has terrible maps and is the typical cod clusterfuck of shot in the back/shoot someone in the back but now with server issues.

Why is this series so popular?

I have no idea how they pulled off such a bad campaign, it is as though there was a conscious effort to make it rubbish. I couldn't believe the decline in quality from Advanced Warfare in terms of single player.

Probably because the gameplay in engaging and instant action, don't have to go minutes without being in action. Some people want instant satisfaction and instant action. Can't blame them.

I'm enjoying the game more than the beta for sure, but that's partly because I'm playing Hardcore now.

Speaking of Hardcore, sad to see only 4 game modes. Kill Confirmed isn't even one of them. I expect them to add it eventually but it should have been there. Also, there needs to be ricochet. Why is this not the default? Destroys whatever streak you're on.

There's alot to take in. Probably more so than any other COD.

I see they've taken the MWR approach in terms of collections.

So far, none of the maps have really struck me as great. They're all OK.

I like the daily/weekly contracts, as well as the being able to buy contracts. Extra ways to earn crates and xp.

The loading after a match is too long. Why have separate screens for leaderboards and the top 3? 1 screen showing both and keep it moving.

Haven't played around with too many weapons but right now, I'm enjoying the Type 100.

The selection of default emblems is sad. You can't even unlock any? As a fan of collecting them, I'm disappointed. I'll definitely be making my own..starting with The Flash emblem! Calling Cards seem fine.

It does feel good to be back with a COD game. I don't know how long this will hold me over but it's definitely helping with the itch I've had for a few months. Definitely not the best game I've played but it's not as horrible as I feared.

Really? The reviews I've seen so far say things like "Predictable," "Linear," "Short," while praising Zombie mode and MP I guess. Reading the posts in this very OT thoughts on SP seem quite split.

I was really hoping this wouldn't just be a MoH clone with a modern look, but there are posts which also say just that.

Of course I'll form a judgement of my own once I get to play through it but still, it is a bit hype-deflating to read such mixed thoughts on what I was hoping would be the best FPS campaign of the year.

Say what you will about Call of Duty games but they always bring their A game when it comes to the Main Menu/Multiplayer Menu theme music.

I haven't gone through the whole thread but a friend of mine is having trouble and his account hasn't been activated here yet so if anyone could help it'd be much appreciated!

"I can't connect online with this game. I'm stuck at the 'connecting to online services' screen. I encountered the same problem during the beta and was unable to play it the whole way through. I've tried everything. From your 'resetting the game, router and modem' to fiddling with the settings inside the router and bypassing the router completely. Still couldn't connect. However, my knowledge on the matter is really lilmited, so I just tried the best I could find through Google when it came to fiddling with the settings inside my router. Anyone got a clue what to do."

Preloaded this last night after reading initial impressions and watching some MP gameplay on Twitch.

Really looking good. MP looks much different from IW, which I can't say I enjoyed. I'm still a sucker for COD games - they're my guilty pleasure.

Liking the MP, but they need to fix the post-game screen. Still takes too long or simply never loads.

I beat the campaign in less than six hours. It actually seemed shorted than most of the previous games. To be fair, I was kind of rushing through it (I just wanted to get it out of the way) and did not look for any of the mementos.

It was solid. Not the best but far from the worst in the series. I thought the first mission was the weakest in the game, so I'm glad it quickly improved. I didn't feel like there were as many of those big setpiece moments that past campaigns have had — there were only a couple parts that wowed me.

Graphics are decent but again, nothing really blew me away (playing on a PS4 Pro). The HDR looks really good on flames and big explosions.

Some of the pre-rendered cutscenes (toward the end of the game) look incredibly realistic. There's a significant one that I almost thought was live action at first.

Played a quick match this morning before TPIR. I am going to get sucked away by the MP in this game, I can already tell. The one map I played, Gustav Cannon, could fit right in with all the MW2 maps. Plenty of lanes for everyone. Snipers, SMG and shotgun users, etc. Can't wait to play more later.

I miss PS2 era WWII games to be honest so this would be great.

This is going to sound really odd but to anyone on PC can you bind the movement to the arrow keys and try moving and shooting at the same time or strafing and moving forward. I'm left handed and use the arrow keys (yes yes I know), there has been a bug in the past few COD games where the you could not use the arrow keys and any other button at the same time, unless you rebound it to be someone else outside of the game (i.e. up arrow as 'W' or something). Cheers!

In a year with Wolfenstein 2's prime rib on the menu this looks like some reheated leftovers from applebees. Even destiny 2 turned in a really fun single player campaign.

Reviews seem to be good. Sounds like cod just isn't your cup of team.

The BAR with long barrel, grip and ACOG sight is fucking beast. It takes away the idle sway and your AR almost becomes a laser. And the social space is actually better than I expected.

And of course the back-packing. Been going through a lot of those today.

The complete rip of the Destiny social space is killing me. I'm not offended or anything...it's just hilarious how Activision saw what Bungie was doing and told Sledgehammer to do the exact same thing.

Played about 3.5 hours, up to lvl 27.

I'm loving the game, finally another decent cod.

The loadout system is fine and the weapons are great (fucking need to prestige to get my scoped kar98k! I mean Im going to prestige anyway but come on!).

Are there prestige tokens? I want my kar98 to have a permanent spot in my loadout lol

The maps are good. The flak cannon one is a bit of a clusterfuck to be honest...
And it's definitely noticeable that there are less maps in the normal rotation.

Overall I'm very happy with it.

Havnt played campaign yet but I'm sure it'll be epic

It's the same concept, but there seems to be way more stuff to do in COD than Destiny. I wish Bungie had thrown in more to do than soccer at the farm. That's a game that has the chops to really do it right.

Sure I can see that based on the QL that it is more open and is meant to reflect the enormity of a Normandy base of operations. It's impressive considering that CoD has been known for quick MM with no lag time. Spending downtime in a CoD game is a very unique approach. Still not a fan of the visible loot drops.

I got used to the Flak Cannon. SHG(My favorite studio)Actually hit it out of the ballpark with this COD. They needed a win. Love that once everything clicks the spawns are not as rampant as previous titles. How are the spawns going for you?

They did a great job with it. So far no hacks.

Anyone else unable to get to the online multiplayer on PS4? Every time I click on it, it tries to update and fails out with error code 1 or 5. Zombies is doing the same thing, so it seems I can't play online in any fashion until something changes.

I did start the campaign though. Seems like a fine WWII experience, with everything you'd expect from your squadmate characters and the D-Day setpiece. I started on Veteran and the first couple of checkpoints were brutal with the lack of regenerating health, but it eases up considerably once you start finding health packs.
