That's really weird perspective. I mean what's the point of hardware if you can't even discuss software? As long as I remember software was always part of hardware lunch discussion.

What would DF even take videos of? :)

Thats not what i said though, specifically, theres no need to bog down this thread with talk about exclusive offerings or cancelled games, the topic is about how games run better and general improvements, which ofcourse means we speak about games showcase. Just avoid the business behind it.

Very promising to see as far as load times are concerned:

Id like the mods to intervene here, its a hardware thread, focus on the improvement and changes solely from the power upgrade and delivery of pixels to the screen.

Any talk of software volume or exclusiveness should be taken to another thread.
I agree, that's not what I came to read about, and that kind of stuff really ruined other sites. We don't need that kind of stuff here.
Stop it!

More interesting software discussion:

So many interesting things in here. HDD bw is now up to 60mb/sec where it was 40mb/sec before and AF really makes a huge difference.

This is looking good! My ME: Andromeda experience seems to be more of an exception. Now I need 360 comparison.

That Battlefield 1 footage is nice, even with no patches yet. A solid update for people if they only have 1080p screens no doubt.

Not surprised that's what GAF thinks. I do feel like we achieved a good balance of people here. It doesn't feel like you are suffocating.
So true, I really like that there is some genuine excitement toward the X launch at this place :) Personally I can't wait to try this beast, everything in the living room is upgraded to 4K (except the projector), I'm really just waiting on the X to arrive now.

Really tempted to pick one of these up. Only issue is I have a 1080p TV still, so I'm probably better off getting an Xbox One S. But it may be time to make the 4K upgrade, so I'm back to square one.

Really love the attention to detail and the amount of games checked by Digital Foundry.

Load times are reduced for unpatched games, but as some stated, I guess it will be pretty much the same for unpatched Xbox One (S) vs. Patched Xbox One X in the end.

To be honest, I would loved a SSD instead of HDD in the Xbox One X, but in the end, I would have prefered a 2TB HDD model.

My internal drive is nearly full at this stage and I'm far from being able to install that many games at this point. A lot of titles received and will receive big updates and are already around 50-100 GB or more.

If you have a couple of games waiting, just go and order a 2-4 TB external drive right away, because you're going to need it.

I guess most people want to try out older titles or have another look at a patched game, so you need to extra space anyway.

Damn. Even better than I expected in some cases. God Halo 5 is going to look so good supersampling from 4k. I wish he had done a comparison on unpatched Rocket league though judging by the results in these other games it should be a rock solid 60fps on the 1X.

I understand this is a gaming enthousiast forum and I consider myself a gamer but I, for the moment, fail to see how I can justify dishing out 700$ (canadian prices and taxes included) to get the 1X. They call it a Mid-Gen upgrade that will play the same games. Will we have a Xbox 2 in 2 years that the new games will only be available on? I don't get the new model where the games are compatible with every current consoles. I mean, with previous console launches, I was interested to upgrade to play the New games only available on the new console. That made easy to justify the purchase. Even if I don't get to experience the new games in 4K and slightly faster load times (althought I dread those huge 4K downloads) I will still be able to enjoy the sames games cuz, in the end, it's the games that matter.

I don't know... I want the X1X and I have the money for it but it feels like a waste of cash because, in the end, it will be playing the same games...

Please ERA, knock some sense into me!

Very curious how the machine does and if it will give the Xbox a second chance to catch up. I hope for the sake of the market that it the X catches fire and moves big numbers. Competition is good.

I also wonder if MS will release numbers of units sold.

Many interesting things indeed. I'm pretty happy about the improvements.

Btw. what exactly is the reason that these games only get access to 3TFLOPS?

Is super sampling something that the hardware will do to all 4K patched games on a 1080p tv?

Is this a situation just like PS4 pro where people will be hoping for their games to get a 4K patch

the 16x af on even unpatched titles can make a big difference. halo 5 and battlefield one's ground textures looked so much better on that alone. nice

It's amazing the amount of gains that are being reported just for 1080p sets. Was honestly not expecting that.

The 16AF is a massive boost for some titles, especially with no extra texture assets etc. Hoping for NG someone shows some more BF1 stuff.

Actually, can anyone test load times etc for Battlefront 1?

Remember how apparently RDR couldn't come to PC because the way it was coded? Maybe it could be the same issue if we don't see an update for 1080p/4k.

Considering you will be able to see a tangible difference on every game you play, spanning 3 generations of software, the best performance on multiplats and it's SMALLER the XBox One X for me is an insane value. I think the system has done more than enough to justify it's price tag. End of the day it's probably the best designed console ever made, revision or not. I'd put it against any system for price /performance at the moment. The tech is amazing.

Looking really impressive based on that Digital Foundry video. Definitely shows that it pays off to implement dynamic resolution scaling.

I have gone back and forth so many times on if I should buy this thing. I have a PS4+, Switch and Xbox One OG. I don't play OG a ton and I still play PS3, Wii U, 360, etc. I have a 4k HDR tv and I am excited about how it upgrades essentially any xbox compatible game but at the same time I feel really stupid buying another $500 console when I paid $400 something for the OG Master Chief bundle.

I have the money to buy it, but when I see that I can sell that OG for around $100-$150 it makes me a little sad. I am buying into the hype but something is still telling me to wait this one out.

Anyone else have similar concerns?
