I have 0 interest in Finka based on that description. Lion I'm not sure since we don't get a good idea of how he will work, but could be cool.

https://rainbow6.ubisoft.com/siege/en-US/game-info/operators/finka/story.aspx

tldr the leak was 100% right and finka is just attacker doc that can overheal the entire team at once with nanomachines.

https://rainbow6.ubisoft.com/siege/en-us/game-info/operators/lion/story.aspx

and idk the leak made iot sound like he had an overhead motion sensor? the description here is just as vague.

My hot take on the new seasonal anime, Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Chimera

Finka's story is full-out anime. Born near Chernobyl? Neurodegenerative disease? zzzzzzzzzzz

Lion's bio is more anime than the base operators, but it's more palatable anime than what we usually get. It's a good old redemption story about him being a selfish loser and getting better. I like that he's still got a ton of issues, he didn't suddenly become perfect by joining the army. The bit about the GIGN/SAS drama is a bit too much, though.

i'm sorry i'm just meming

It's all too much, imo. Way too much for canon backstory, anyway. Rather than regular "lore" it feels like material from a personal creative dictionary made public. It's the type of information that exists so the author can more easily realize what they envision. Most creators don't make that kind of content public (at least not in an official capacity) because a lot of it is trivial and trite. They cut it.

Never thought I'd read a pro-life testimony for this game.

My Other Hot Takes
  • I was right about the reuse of weapons, and I like I said I think that's a smart, economic choice. The characters are still valuable as DLC because they each have one unique weapon, which I bet will be their most versatile option.
  • I'm pretty damn disappointed Lion isn't three-armor. That looks like another Echo situation. However, Echo being made three-armor despite what their original intentions seemed like was a positive move, imo. For Lion, who can say yet. But the thing is, there hasn't been a three-armor attacker since launch.
  • I'm calling Lion "Lannister."

I got this game the other day on the cheap, it might actually be fun if I wasn't being teamkilled every other round.

Mira Ace

I haven't played Mira for a long time, so I forgot an extra trick. I could've thrown that c4 much better, if I had used the Shotgun to make a big hole above headlevel in that unreinforced wall.

No counter to it as far as we know
Same for the other operator unless you can shoot that drone or something
I bet there's a pretty audible, distinct sound effect for when Finka activates her and her teammates' nanomachines similar to the noise for Doc's injection.

For Lion, I assume Vigil and possible Caveria are immune when their specials are active, and defenders are probably safe under the cover of Mute's jammers and Lion probably can't use his gadget when near jammers.

Whether these are sufficient counters, who knows. Whether these are all the counters, I seriously doubt it. Whether all the counters are sufficient counters, who fucking knows.

*Actually, if the nanomachines rely on a signal from Finka to activate Mute may counter her as well.

lol Finka gets her face cut up in a knife fight with Kapkan but manages to beat the shit out of him anyway, then goes to drink and flirt with Tachanka.

Behind them? It was a headshot..
Looking at it at 30fps per GameDVR it's always hard to say. It looks to me like shots 3 and 5 were more likely hits than not, and potentially headshots. And I do like to look at people's clips and point out how wrong they are. If this were a court case you'd at least get a trial. The court couldn't just throw it out.

Yeah I hope the new operators will get a darker costume down the road, they're a little late for Blood Orchid style suits so...

Personally I'll never understand why people would willingly use some of the more flashy camo/costumes. Putting aside the weird fact that R6 seems to feature self-lighting in an awkward way, it would seem to me that painting yourself up in red and gold is not exactly gonna help you be sneaky.

Man Finka sounds so boring. I prefer active abilities that are actually fun to use. This "gives health boost" is so lame.

How do you feel about Rook? I think characters with simple(r) utility are important for new players and players who prefer to focus on other aspects of the gameplay. We have plenty of characters with a very high learning curve.

I am not familiar with any of the teams or players, but Canadian from EG seems very odd and OTT. It's kind of off putting.

Despite some awful technical hiccups during the pre-event, the main event of the Invitational has been pretty entertaining so far. While there are still some major flaws, they've definitely improved the spectating. I miss Bloodbath though.

And I have a few words about that "Universe Panel"...

As somebody disinterested in most other e-sports, what's odd about him? His hype? I kind of like him. The event is pushing him pretty hard, and while bias for EG at the event is real it is NA turf. He's the in-game leader of one of the most prominent teams and the Invitational's defending champions. And as far as I can tell, he's more or less risen naturally as a popular personality.

True. Rook and the new OP are good and beginner friendly, I just try to get ones with active abilities or that change the map a little bit more (even if Im not that good with them lol). One example is Mira, I love the idea behind her gadget and it´s a nice twist behind the nature of Siege, hope to see more of that.

I'm installing the game for the first time now, RIP my ego.

Any tips for a beginner? Aim down sights and shoot the bad guys?

I totally sympathize.

• On defense, when a teammate creates a hole of some measure, know it is most likely there for a reason. Usually for the purposes of shooting, seeing, or moving. These are called killholes or (for movement) rotation holes. Do not reinforce or otherwise obstruct these.
- On the Bomb game type, it's almost never a good idea to reinforce between the two bombs, because you need to defend them both therefore access them both. In this case, often the best thing you can do is create as many holes between the rooms holding the bombs (the bomb sites) as possible.

• Make use of the compass and room titles on the bottom right of your HUD when calling out enemy locations and POIs to your teammates.
- When you want to call out a location of something to your teammates and you don't and can't know what its exact name is, instead refer to colors or furniture that might be in the room. The maps are designed in such a way to have unique items or features in each room to suppliment this. In fact, in some cases names like the "Red Stairs" and the opposite "White Stairs" on the map Kafe Dostoyevsky or the "Piano Room" on Consulate are more ubiquitous than the official names of the areas.

• In firefights, pre-aim and pre-fire.

• With shotguns, laser sights are helpful and hipfiring is effective.

Jumped into MP for the first time last night. I'm terrible, I'm sure, but I'm liking it. Would like to team up with some people from here who don't mind my terribleness.

On Xbox. I'm CptGlanton there. Thanks.

Something I would add to my "Drone Dance" post as of 2018 is that besides trying to contest their position or retreat, sometimes skilled, aggressive defenders who've noticed you've located them with your drone will deduce where you are as you are on your drone or just getting off it and they will rush you. Most players don't have that kind of audacity and game-sense, but it will happen so be cautious of that.

Added you and invited you to the club. It's likely I'll be playing tonight and this weekend. I'm on PST.
