They definitely changed how items look on the ground. They look awful now.

Actually now that I'm thinking about it, you're totally right. Maybe distance rendering for items/weapons is borked? I killed a guy and had trouble distinguishing if he dropped a gold crossbow or a sniper, which I'm usually able to tell off the bat.
Yea I played a couple more and take back my other post. Colors look absolute trash now.
My fps is waaaaaay lower too when I pulled up the counter. I was around 120-144 fps when I'm usually at 220-250.
That's probably why I didn't notice it before because it's still high for me... But low/mid tier PCs might see a huge downgrade.

Apparently if you've seen a performance decrease setting your game into windowed mode then back into fullscreen fixes it. Dakotaz mentioned it on his stream, but plenty on Reddit are reporting it as helping. Epic have made a few posts already about looking into unintentional bugs and changes, i do hope we hear about a PTR again soon as clearly their internal testing is letting a few too many issues slide through.

I mean it's 144 hz so anything above isn't noticed... I just leave the setting on unlimited usually though.
Crazy. Even before I had a Gsync monitor, I capped games at my monitor's framerate to save GPU power and temps. No sense in the GPU running hard for frames I can't see.
Nice, it pissed me off when they over-nerfed it. Using that gun was such a bummer with the spread on it.
Do you have to do this once? Or every time?
On a side note, Dr Disrespect is playing Fortnite alot more. He seems to be enjoying it more than PUBG, from the less amount of complaining.

Getting some serious visual hiccups now when I play with uncapped framerate on PS4: including textures glitching out and extreme changes in contrast, I don't think I saw a lot of this before.
Just tried it on PC, can confirm gun colors look weird and overall it looks like it's missing that last coat of paint. Doesn't look as vibrant as it did last night. New sound effects are cool.
Are PS4 download speeds back to being complete ass?

Mine downloaded at the usual speed, remember sometimes you have to pause and resume (dumb, i know), and the PS4 will download faster if you have no applications running or is in rest mode as to not interrupt online connection quality, this should be optional, yes, but hey.
There was a specific issue they had with download speeds for Fortnite at one point. However, Twitch was stealth running in the background. So disregard.

If this happened early on in the match, its not a new issue, just weird desync issues as the netcode is struggling a bit with so many players - its been improved since launch, but clearly still needs work.
After a few matches on the base PS4 it feels like business as usual for me. Its an Early Access game, a work in progress, implementing new features and systems, then refine them if and when unexpected issues arise. I do hope we see a PTR to perhaps do a weeks public test before patches hit the live servers though, catch a few more issues in testing.
I seriously doubt they're just going to roll back the patch. It's not even a reasonable request seeing as that would also affect the PVE side heavily.
Yeah. It's been rough sailing for me today on PS4. It makes me wonder if they will either roll back this patch or get a hotfix out before the weekend.
It'll be a hotfix, they normally have a really good turn around with them to address immediate issues. Though there certainly are a few bugs that have been around for long enough that i understand peoples frustrations with.
I like the weekly updates, but I'm starting to feel like it's getting out of control for them.. I'd rather have bi-weekly updates if it meant more stability and fewer bugs.
I hope they take some time between now and the start of season 3 to really work out some of the performance issues and bugs that have been pointed out.

I really, really, really, really hate the look of the items now. They look horrible. They don't have distinctive outlines anymore and it's so much harder to see what's what in a pile of loot.
Am I able to buy two of those 10 tier packs for the BP in the shop? Thinking of doing it to complete the pass and get the Black Knight skin, I'm at tier 46. I have 20 bucks left in my epic account through an old refund so might as well use it on that rather than on just one skin. Just hope it's not limited to buying it once. I'll also still have 950 vbucks left after to get the season 3 one which is nice.
based on dev comments, it seems like it wasn't necessarily an intentional change, and more of a side effect of some optimizations they were doing. probably will be fixed in the next update.

It also likely one of those things that'll only be in the game for a day or two, and we'll have a laugh about later on. I don't mind the colour change on the loot myself, but if people are finding the items more difficult to distinguish, then thats a problem - but i haven't really had that issue to be honest, though i've only played a handful of games since the patch dropped. I do also get the feeling that the loot colour change wasn't intentional, perhaps just intended for lower graphics settings that was just accidentally applied across the board in a late change to the patch.

Looks like someone forgot to disable the "PUBG filter" when building the release patch, now everything looks drab and lifeless.
In two more days I'll have the battle pass complete. I wish I would've known that the 10 level bundle would return. Could've saved some coins.
Yeah it's not just the loot for me, the whole image looks more darker, drabber and washed out.
I totally agree. I feel like they are adding TOO much and not able to catch up on actually fixing things.
Maybe alternating gameplay updates and bug fixes every other week or something. They're already going above and beyond with gameplay/content updates. They can afford to slow their roll a bit and I don't think the community will be upset if it means more and better bug fixes/optimizations.
It's more that they're overhauling massive parts of some fundamental systems of the game (map streaming, asset loading, etc) to make it perform better and more consistently. The kind of stuff that breaks shit badly.
Also - this came up the other day but the PS+ Skin & Glider look like they can be used on PC too once you've obtained them on PS4.
