Really excited at the class tosu got. feels good being top 2

The bitterness that some of you have towards ucf is really offputting.

They have just as much right to claim a championship as the 41 bama team does

I think Mullen signed a decent class. Missing on Petit-Frere and Boykin hurt but at least all the verbals stuck to their commitments. 4 OL and a Mullen approved QB were needs that were met. 2 solid receivers plus Grimes and Jefferson transferring in. With a full year under his belt, he'll be expected to pull in classes that compete with Georgia and Bama though. A pretty tall order considering Florida hasn't signed a single 5 star since 2015 while UGA has signed 13 in that time.

I don't pay any attention to recruiting but all I'm hearing is that Bama is dead and will only win 3 games in 2019.

New Mexico is suspending Bob Davie for 30 days. Pretty disgusting stuff in here if this bears out.

Hogan Marren never interviewed head football coach Bob Davie, according to the report. But his name appeared numerous times in its final report.

That includes the firm's examination of one case in which a female student had reported to UNM Police that a football player had raped her.

Witnesses told Black that Davie had "held an all team meeting in which he told the players to 'get some dirt on this whore,'" according to Hogan Marren's report. The firm said it was not able to independently confirm Davie's actual comments, as players and coaches it contacted said they weren't at the meeting or didn't remember Davie using those words or remembered only hearing they needed to protect their teammate and provide information to Davie.

I mean, it's not like he's a current NFL or XFL player or anything. Also not sure how much he'd help actually attract the recruit.

I don't know if there's been a rule change recently, so maybe this is out of date, but I think that technically any alumnus of a school tweeting to recruits is a violation; in the age of social media it's impossible to police that, though, so they probably only give out the warnings to bigger/more famous fish.

Supposedly poor recruiting results is why some of the Bama coaches are leaving. Basically getting pushed out for better recruiters.

But.. they still finished with a top ten class...
And depending on where you look it is a top 5 class.

Yeah yeah, we get it, we are spoiled. I think its great that Saban keeps pushing hard for not only good position coaches and Coordinators but also people who can recruit. My understanding is that it is the pro guys who struggle the most, like Daboll. It is an adjustment to change from dealing with grown adults to having to woo 17 year old kids. Not for everyone.

However, if there was a year for Bama to be down, this was it. It wasn't as deep a year, and UGA and OSU really did well this year, so it was going to be a slog. On top of that it seems like some schools adapted to the ESP better than others.

Looking forward Bama is already running a lot hotter for the next two classes. I also expect Saban to push harder for more early signers too.

One year won't have an impact. If it happens again it could start to affect things.
But they still have had infinite number one classes.. a top ten class is still a class that can get you in the playoffs. Even in the West

I don't think it's just based on stars. Apparently in recent years some of the guys were misevaluated and just aren't good fits for the system Saban wants to run. Despite not needing space there might be some transfers this summer due to that.
This at least makes more sense

Top ten just means there are x amount of guys that are better than you so you've failed, and therefore must be cast out. It's the Bama Way.
Of course.gif

I believe in Sumlin's second year A&M had a top ten class...

And was fourth in the division.
Results may vary

We should talk about the bill in the Mississippi legislature that would allow carrying guns to collegiate sporting events. Everyone coming out against it.

Wasn't this a thing in Alabama a few years back. They ended up banning them for sporting events.

Wtf is going on with auto correct on this site. I tap the correct word and it doesn't change the word.

Think it was Louisiana.

Greg Sankey has said that teams may refuse to play at Miss State or Ole Miss if this law is passed. I'm assuming this has no chance of actually passing but there is a chance.

Sure, why not? Not like the coaches are going to forget how to recruit or something.

I don't think recruiting has really been Michigan's problem anyway.

A top QB and some choice O-line prospects would be nice... Something needs to happen to turn the offense around. This last season sucked balls offensively. Even if Shea is eligible this season a shit O-line ain't gonna keep him upright. Expecting 9-3 at best.

Yeah, Harbaugh's inability to find a QB has been the most perplexing thing about his time there.

There's a lot more that goes into producing a star college QB than just recruiting though. We had a class a few years ago with two Elite 11 guys and neither one panned out.
