Just started after only playing this when it originally released.

I see it still has the horrible camera that just about ruins the enjoyment. How hard is it to add an option to disable the camera auto moving.

That would ruin like one of the main components that makes this game special

Sorry, I wasn't trying to imply that I was some authority on the game compared to you. I didn't know your history with the game, so for all I knew you might not have been as familiar with the original. I think the number of people claiming a music volume difference should suffice as proof of their being one though. I was playing the PS3 and PS4 versions back-to-back, and the music is plainly louder in the original.

As for my recommended settings to reclaim the original's overexposed lighting and louder music, that was just for fun. I'm not suggesting that it is how the game is meant to be played or anything. People have been wanting filter suggestions for that since before the game launched, so I thought I'd share mine.
Just to be clear, I did hear how low it was in pre-release streams and footage. But I've noticed how loud it actually is while playing. I'll admit, I don't know if the rest of the audio is louder than it "should be" but it hasn't overpowered the music either and that would have been a big no-no for me.

Checking now: changing the setting to home cinema really lowers the menu audio and softens/stretches the audio out. It might make a more wider, room filling sound, but definitely softens the punch of the music. Demise of Ritual just wasn't noticeable or strong enough during its opening chords. Go with TV speakers. I'm still getting surround sound, it's just tighter and louder.

Lol, I'm doing the last colossus like I did any other time (including last week on the PS3) and I actually am having a hard time. Not sure if it's because I have such a low stamina bar being my first playthrough on hard causing me to make stupid decisions out of desperation or because there are places I'm getting stuck on the wrists preventing my climbing to desired areas on his hands.

Edit: I say this and I finally reach the shoulder haha. I was indeed getting stuck in the left wrist numerous times but I had forgotten about the right hand "trick" til now. Ending here we come finally (spent too much time gawking and photmoding lol).

The tenth Colossus was rad as hell. I was pretty proud of myself for not dying so far in the game. The tenth killed me though. Lol

Had some friends over (complete casuals who exclusively play FIFA) and just put it on as sort of a background distraction, took down the first Colossus as a demonstration, the preceeding few hours were spent taking down the next few, they were completely absorbed - it was amazing. Their reaction to the fifth one was priceless, felt like playing videogames as a kid.

I finished it. Really forgot just how absolutely stunning and marvelous all the cinematography and cutscenes were. The Last Guardian is my favorite Ueda game but this is probably #2. The camera work is just incredibly beautiful. The blending of beauty with such deceit and destruction is why this game is so unique, I think.

edit: PS Jett I disagree that Mono's ethereal glow is gone. It's totally there.

Get Bluepoint money for an original IP STAT, Sony.

Man this game is shockingly good. I'm actually amazed how fresh it feels considering I must have beaten it like 4 times on PS2, or more. I literally had no memory of Colossus 12, like not even a tiny bit. Time flies man.....

Also, Colossus 11 is such a *colossal* pain in the ass. On Hard, you lie on the goddamn ground so long that he rams you again like 1 millisecond after you stand back up.

Damnit, it's been posted so many times and I thought I'd get the gist of it when I got around to beating it but now I'm confused as to how best to continue to ensure I collect all items in one set. Any tips (or links to a previous post lol)?

I gotta say, playing this in black and white with film grain is totally viable, visually, and legit compliments the game itself. Am gonna replay on hard time attack with this visual filter on my next playthrough.

So what is the best way to continue and link all difficulty modes?

I played normal first. Then did the normal time attacks. The started a new game + on hard. Finished that then did the hard time attacks.

After that you unlock a stupidly powerful sword. I just picked continue on the main menu after each playthrough and it starts you on new game + again.

Beautiful game in many respects, completed it in three play-sessions (Colossi 1-6, 7-13, and 14-16) which was my first full play-through since defeating the first couple colossi on the initial hardware way back when.

What does the New Game+ entail?

What does the New Game+ entail?
Keeping stamina and health leveled up and unlocking time attack at the temple (pray in front of each statue)

Ok, so having just beat it on hard, I select continue (which is hard+), I can ignore the story and just do time attacks, then select new game+, select normal, beat it, then continue for time attack... right?

Now I'll need to figure out easy and have it not alter my progress to unlock the gallery stuff.

It's too bad hard mode doesn't unlock a toggle for time attack to select between normal and hard. Just a QoL update to modernize the game in this remake.

That's right. Just kneel in front of the statues in the main shrine when you press continue and do those time attacks. Then quit out and select the new game plus option but set it to normal.

It is a bit of a hassle.

Question for you (or the others who have the plat'), is it necessary do to all the normal time attacks?

The Speed King trophy description is:
Obtain All Time Attack Items Together as One Set

There is no time attack item for finishing all the colossus in normal TA (but there's one for Hard, the queen sword). So if I've done all the hard TA, and then start doing the normal TA, I'm gonna get all the items without defeating all of them (in normal). So I should get the trophy (otherwise the description should have been "defeat all colossus in normal and hard TA" or something like that), right?

How long does the stamina bar need to get?

Mine is almost the same length as the health bar , which is maxed thanks to fruit, and still no dice.

I'm on my 5th playthrough just straight up farming lizards and guiding colossi.

Ok the last level is amazing. I think the game could have been better with a bit of visual cues that signal the slow darkening. As it is now, it feels like it keeps the same mood and suddenly boom, Darkness, no Parents.

Game is good but its masterpiece status has not stood the pass of time.

You have to have your Hard TA items equipped and save the game, then start a Normal + using that Hard save you just made and beat the Normal TAs.

It was confusing for me ..

Yeah that's what I did. But as I'm reading the items you can unlock doing the normal TAs, there's none for "beating all colossus in normal TAs". It's only "beat colossi 2 in normal TA", "Beat colossi 6 in normal TA". But it seems that you can get all the items WITHOUT beating all of them in NORMAL TAs (I'm reading now you unlock an item for 6, 12, 4, 14, 16, 8, 10 and that's it, there's no item for beating the first one for example).

Do you understand what I mean?

I saw a gif a few threads back that was a nice quality gif of him on a colossus back that was showing the fur physics in the sunlight. Anyone know where that is??

Seriously though, 3 things should be addressed

Give a freecam option

Fix his face

Fix his animations a bit
Not only does the face kill pics in photomode, it kills discussion of the game lol. I like it in general, just not its blankness in dynamic or dramatic situations.

I mean, this doesn't bother me at all as an idle pose, because he blinks and looks around:
ps_messages_20180211_kysxh.jpg

And even these "action shots" don't bother me becaude he clearly animates:
ps_messages_20180211_22sdw.jpg

ps_messages_20180205_i5sh1.jpg

But this blank face when holding up the sword and taking damage... it's just static. No blinking, no emoting:

Could try just doing the ones listed. It's probably safer to keep going if it doesn't unlock before. I did them all just in case.

My stamina ended up being just a little longer than my health. I got the trophy for it after killing the 11th on my 5th play. That's with getting all the fruits in only 1 playthrough and only about 6 lizard tails in total.

I really hope a patch can smooth out some of the musical transitions. They can be really abrupt when Colossus appear or you climb on / fall off of them. The soundtrack is as soaring and grand as it's always been, but I'm noticing this happening a lot. Not the end of the world but it clashes with the otherwise impeccable presentation.

Yeah I've just had a look myself. You'll need to do them all. It says "defeat 2 Colossus" and so on. The brown horse skin is the reward for all 16.

I had a good time doing all the normal time attacks but these hard ones are just not fun for me. They require a level of precision that it doesn't feel like the game was built for. Think I'll just leave them for now.

You'er right, looking at it again, she has a glow to her, but it's not quite the same, I think. Maybe it's the colors, but in motion it almost looks like they're shifting.

Speaking of the ending, I really prefer the bloomed out look of the original more here. The way the lighting washes over Mono as she wakes up just gives the scene a completely different feel, for me anyway

Or when Agro comes back, overexposed lighting as the music rises up makes it all seem much more dramatic and impactful. Or maybe it's just nostalgia!

In general I wish BP had at least retained the the way the lighting looked in the Shrine of Worship.

But for me where BP really dropped the ball was the credits sequence, which the original's is one of my favorite ever. They replaced the memorable, colorful, even bloomer visuals than usual with drab, monochromatic tones.

Every colossus gets its own color scheme. Then in the remake you just get a collection of forgettable greys.

I watched the DF Retro breakdown of the game and I think they had to do the bloomy stuff because of the way the levels were built. I think it washes out just a bit too much detail, personally.
