No interim champ though. It kind of hammers home how pointless interim champs are. If Romero wins does he then fight someone else for the interim title, or does he wait for Whittaker?
Luke was right to renegotiate. Yoel wasn't even gonna try to lose the 3 pounds, he wanted to start rehydrating to blow up even bigger than usual and have an advantage.
Yeah over the past 2 years the UFC has thrown the idea of the belt being worth something into the trash can. A big part of why UFC became so popular was the idea of divisions, contenders and the chasing of the belt. Don't get me wrong there were always the "freak show" fights or fighters that transcended the belt in terms of drawing power. But the reason there was that hardcore super invested group of people buying almost all the PPVs was the structure of the UFC and the belief that the fights mattered.
Over the past 2 years though off the backs of a few huge fighters / fights UFC has thrown all semblance of normality into the trash can in pursuit of the "Big pay days". The issue that has led to is the bottom completely dropping out on all now but the biggest cards. PPV buys and ratings on TV have collapsed due to consumers being essentially told none of the fights except for a couple they will throw on 2-3 big PPV events a year matter. And that's a huge problem for them long term
Yeah that ref could and should have stopped it at anytime.
Adesanya had some composure there. Obviously it was because his opponent wasn't a threat to him standing, but it's a good thing to have. Stayed calm and picked his shots.
If he works on his grappling and wrestling he could be the next Bones. I can see him implementing some oblique kicks and standing elbows to be just like Bones, lol.
