I never understand how people think this one is the one that's ok.

It's one of the worst films I ever seen.
The thing about ROTS was that it was one the one prequel that had some incredibly anticipated scenes that people had been waiting for for decades.

Anakin's fall to the dark side, the Jedi Purge, the end of the Clone War, Obi-Wan fighting Anakin on a lava planet, the rise of the Empire, the birth of Luke and Leia. It was impossible for it to be boring. This was after the first two films which were full of nothing and wasted time. The underlying story or at least the potential is so great and there's so many lightsaber fights and major moments that for some people it's easy to overlook just how bad the execution was.

I remember sitting with a friend and my ex at the movie theater when this came out and we all just had this look of defeatism on our faces. We had to watch it for the sake of completeness, but man were we disappointed.

Fast-forward to a few weeks ago and ROTS came on the television and I said to myself, "Hey, Blackpuppy, you're an open-minded individual. Let's give this film another shot."

I lasted 5 minutes and was bored out of my mind. And this was the opening battle scene!

One thing I did not expect from Star Wars fandom would be a narrative that any of the prequel films would be better than what the sequel trilogy has to offer. It's just bananas to me.

The reason the movie is so disappointing is because it botched all of those anticipated scenes. Every single one of them. Completely fucked them up and ruined the OT characters as well just for an added bonus.

The nerve of the OP to complain when people just said they *liked* Rogue One, then he comes along with nonsense like ROTS is better than TFA.

OP serious question, how old are you? Did ROTS come out at a pivotal moment in your life?

Sorry OP. But i can't agree with you at all.

And the only good thing to come out of Revenge is this.

The basic plot of ROTS makes zero sense, nor do any of the events that happen in the film.

Literally the only good scene is I AM THE SENATE for the memes.

Outside of Order 66, I'm not sure this movie did anything well. The lightsaber fights were all horrible, the acting horrible, the story horrible, the dialog horrible, and the cinematography as boring as the other prequels. Ewan did about as well as could be hoped for considering the circumstances.

This has become such a tiresome trope.

The worst Star Wars movie by far

More embarrassing than the love story of Attack of the Clones

So terribly awkwardly transparent an attempt at 'mature' themes, with all the 'elegance' of the other prequel films

The silliest turn in film history when Anakin goes from awkward teenager to slaughtering a kindergarten without questions

The worst opening of any Star Wars movie, 20 minutes of fighting with no motivation, no purpose, no direction

The most offensive treatment of any Star Wars character in its disposal of Padme

The worst portrayal of R2D2 in any movie

Tailor-made for 13 year olds who want to feel grown up when they're just kids

At every scene another attempt at selling toys, like all-time worst character Grievous, followed by the stiff as fuck Ewan McGregor jumping on a lizard to ride around for no reason

The worst acting yet by Hayden Christensen

Yeah, it's disgusting

Revenge of the Sith is not good. It has some amazing moments and the best score of the series, but it has too many issues to be considered good.

It's got moments of greatness but wooden acting due to terribly written scenes. Great score and visuals though. It's better than AoTC and Rogue One and tied or slightly better than TPM. But it's solidly worse than OT and the new trilogy.

Yeah, it's garbage. However, I disagree, it is only the second worst; the honour of worst goes to attack of the clones. Though the margin isn't that large.

You could argue it is the worst by virtue that it had the best potential, only to squander it magificent fashion.

It literally tells you what's going on in the opening crawl.

I agree with some of your bullet points but come on lol. And the whole "made to sell toys" argument is terrible. You could say that about any movie that has a toy line. Star Wars has always been one of the biggest lines of merch out there.

btw Hayden was worse in AOTC. I thought he was pretty good here. Really down to script and direction. There's enough good, well acted scenes between him and Ewan and their conflict at the end is mostly well done.

I'm happy that those boneheaded moves from the council in general (and Windu specifically) at least fed into the TLJ thread of the Jedi becoming overconfident at the height of their power. It made for good motivation for Luke even if it came from loose ends.

Padme's Ruminations is one of my favorite scenes in all of Star Wars. If the Binary Suns scene in ANH defines the OT, then this scene definitely defines the PT. You can just feel Anakin's whole life crumbling around him, and everything he believed in being challenged.

Absolutely not.

Anakin makes the transition into psycho murderer hilariously quickly.

Every bit of staging keeps the film at this boring fucking pace. Rarely can anyone be asked to slightly increase the pace of their walk. "Hey Palpatine is the Sith Lord. Let's continue this relatively relaxed stride as we talk about this reality-shattering revelation."

Anakin and Padme's relationship feels like it is written by a fucking space alien.

Padme, your only female character of any note in this movie, is relegated to mostly just sitting on a couch, combing her hair. She is only in this movie to pop out some babies at the end.

The tragedy of Obi-Wan and Anakin's final battle rings completely hollow as at no point in any of these movies am I convinced that they were buddies or had any kind of actual bond.

Grevious sucks. He's nowhere near as cool as he was in the 2D cartoon. He completely fucking sucks.

Revenge of the Sith is a fucking dogshit movie in every capacity.

To be honest RotS was screwed the moment they cast Hayden for AotC. Even if they hadn't of messed up everything else there's no way he was going to be convincing as the guy who becomes Vader which was the most important thing the movie needed to achieve.

Sith is a damn entertaining movie to me, always up for a rewatch well aware of its flaws in nearly every facet. I can never get enough Sheev and Obi-Wan.

I just got done watching this with my brother. It is my favorite Star Wars movie. While not exactly acted out the best, I understand the tragedy and it is moving. The action is awesome and so many threads in the background get resolved in a fulfilling way.

And when I saw these movies in the theater, I disliked them. But getting over the acting and special effects, with an understanding of the world-building, I love these movies.

I'd say it's better than TFA. TFA is a well-made film, but I like things that have the touch of a wild imagination, especially in this vast world that has been created.

He didn't believe him or had any reason to.
Even if he just thought he was totally lying it's not something you just don't tell Windu or Yoda.

You think they'd say hey, it's at least worth looking into instead of just not doing anything about Palpatine for three years even after hearing from Dooku that the Chancellor is Darth Sidious while they notice the dark side surrounds the Chancellor.
