I know this was posted a few weeks ago now, but do you have the model number for the remote you are using? I think the image is BN59-011 something - but I can't tell for sure.

It's not that I mind the remote that came with the TV, but I think I'd prefer a more traditional one - especially as the amazon app looks like it would work better with it.
Samsung BN59 – 01175N
I'm from Germany though, so no idea if there are any differences.
Just type in Samsung remote into Amazon and a bunch of remotes should come up. I can't guarantee any sucess, but even the remote from my older Samsung TV from 3 years ago looked identical and worked on both the old and new TV. That's why I ordered that model again.

Thanks for the info (I did type that into amazon, but there's a whole load of them!). Anyway, I think I'll take a punt and see how it works out.

I currently do have max backlight setting (goes to 20) and color spacing set to custom. I have not tried playing around with gamma much so I'll give that a go next time.

My cousin says he experienced the same thing while playing HZD (he has a different tv). His solution was to just increase brightness whenever night would come. I just feel like there's gotta be a better solution than having to constantly fiddle with brightness whenever day turns into night, haha.

Can't say I've had this problem, that game looks amazing at night.

Don't get me wrong, it actually still looks amazing at night. The colors are deeper and overall picture is better with HDR. But, for example, if its a night/indoor section and there is fire or candles in proximity then the light emitting from the fire will kinda overwhelm the screen and the foreground will look darker as a result. I assume it's supposed to be that way cause it's more realistic (like taking a picture with the sun behind the object makes it a dark silhouette) with HDR on. If i turn HDR off via the in game menu the whole screen will become much brighter and easier to see everything, but colors will be more washed out and not as deep. Does that make sense? Best way i can describe it.

So sometimes i feel like that effect can he overwhelming and makes it hard to see everything properly. On the flip side, when im walking around at night and the moon is shining on the grass and Aloy it looks absolutely GORGEOUS.

Same. I came here to see if anyone else had that happen. Wtf? Lol.
If I look at the app it says it last updated in November 2016.
So I guess it's just pulling info from the web and for some reason reverted to the old layout? The new version was a lot better.

I have a ks8000.

It looks like Amazon Video downgraded to a version from the same date. Maybe it's a bug?

So after reading tons of posts online that all say sharpness should really be at 0, I feel like my PS4 pro looks totally fine, but the Switch looks soft/blurry. Is this just due to my eyes being used to the higher resolution of the pro? In a way, I feel it makes the Switch look worse

So Im having some strange issues with my KS8000. Recently apps have been getting weird when attempting to open them, theyve been going to a blank screen and they never actually load.

This happens all the time for me with hulu, hbo now, Spotify, and YouTube. Sucks that I'm considering getting a 4k HDR roku stick because this TV is failing on delivering on its 'smart' features

So my Amazon Video app won't even open...bit annoying. Is there any way to restart apps on the TV? Or even restart the TV? Putting in standby doesn't solve it and I'm not keen to rip the power cable out.

Hold power button for 5-10 seconds until SUHD pops up on the screen, it quick resets the TV. This usually fixes most problems with the TV

So the Netflix app runs in hdr on PS4 Pro as soon as you open it even when content won't be in hdr on it. Some are obviously but the app itself runs in hdr so wouldn't that affect the picture for non hdr stuff if the app has a hdr filter on it? It does the same on my Apple TV too.

doesnt it work like games where it only turns on hdr if the content you run is in hdr? It's like putting a hdr filter over apps before you run content on them regardless if the movie/tv show is hdr or not.

I'm surprised no one had mentioned this. It's not the TVs fault as I imagine it happens on any hdr tv. Not just my KS8000 seems more of a app issue or device issue.

The Apple TV has a setting to Match Range, if you turn that off (which I believe is the default) it is always in HDR mode. So make sure you turn that On in the settings.

This does mean you will get a second or so of black screen when it switches modes.

competitive games with HDR on is difficult at night because of this, if something is camping in a dark spot, you'll definitely not see that player. realistic? yes, but its definitely a disadvantage for the person with HDR on. i have the samsung 75" MU800 and i tend to avoid night maps

Is that why amazon picture changed from Just amazon video to prime video and blue?. I've noticed it buffers a lot now too YouTube with live streams it never did before.

Yeah, if you go the web store you'll see it's a version from 11/10/2016. Blah.

Update: It seems that 11/10/2016 may just be a default date on the app store and the apps are updating independently of that date. The Amazon Video in particular is said to be a brand new update and not something from 2016, according to an AVS user. In any case, it now runs worse...haha. Not sure about YouTube.

I love the set, but man is WiFi chipset a piece of crap. No matter which router brand, security, dns settings I try (or features on the set I enable/alter), it still randomly loses connection to the router (even though the TV states "connected") after turning the TV off for a while. It cleared up at one point and the soft reboot with the power button on the remote used to fix it, but the issue has returned. I just bought a WiFi Ethernet adapter and hopefully it'll be more stable.

For what it's worth, I use wired ethernet on my KS8000 and it's flawless, so hopefully that adapter works well for you.

Where my TV is doesn't have ethernet to the router, so rather than re-wire the house I've had good results using a power-line adapter and a cheap switch.

Ive never had any disconnects issues with it and i use netflix all the time on it on the latest FW 1207. It may be your router.

I've tried 3 routers, 2.4 and 5ghz frequencies, various security types, firmwares, etc. PLus the router is in the same room as the TV with full strength.

I've been on 1207 for a while and it actually happens more frequently now. It never drops while the set is on... only when it's off for more than a few hours. The TV thinks it's connected but then complains about network problems and asks to troubleshoot/reconnect to the router (like it forgot the password). There's a sizeable thread here regarding it, so I'm not alone: https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/TVs/KS8000-Internet-Wifi-Issues/td-p/56664

Oh and trying to connecting to the Samsung account usually fails now too (saying I need a FW update, even though I'm on the latest) unless I recreate the profile.

I have this tv for over a year or so but never really played pc games on it. Well I recently got a gtx 1080 and wanted to try some 4K games as well as the few games with HDR on the this tv. However when I connect to the PC I get black screen flashes every minute or so. I though it was the cable I was using but I still have the same issue after buying a Amazon basic high speed cable. I have the HDMI UHD color enabled although I did notice when I disabled it it seemed to stop but I didn't really test that out too long as that only gives me 30hz and no HDR option.

KS8000 owners, what is your preferred tv stand/home entertainment stand for this tv? I need to upgrade from my 20 year old stand. I've gone back and forth with one with a mount, and not.

Anyone have an issue with the KS8000 dimming when in Standard picture mode after about 30s or so? Seems to only happen with my PS4 Pro input. I've got all the Eco stuff off. As soon as I switch to Dynamic it gets bright again, even if I toggle back to Standard -- for 30s, until it dims again. Any advice is greatly appreciated -- this didn't happen until fairly recently, I think.

Is this on HDR, SDR, or both?

What is your backlight setting?

Is this TV still getting updates these days? When was the last update and what did it add? Did they fix the HDR settings not getting saved when swicthing between Game Mode and normal mode?

It has been some time since the last firmware update for the US. "Rudy1" from AVSForum says that Samsung were focused on prepping the new models for this year but that they do have one big update for the KS8000 that is supposed to have a bunch of fixes including the Game Mode fix that should roll out in March/April. Most people do not believe him but he has some followers who say he has been right on things in the past so I will keep an open mind. If the fabled game mode fix update does appear as promised and it doesn't break anything I wouldn't expect any more updates for this model, personally.

Does Game mode really improve the game play-
I play street fighter V all the time and I feel like the lag input or FPS
is just as good as when I play with or without game mode.

could anyone elaborate on why game mode is so preferred among many of you?

I feel like this is a troll post. You definitely can feel the difference in input lag when playing a game in say the standard picture setting as opposed to game mode. Especially games like fighters.

Is this a really big deal for people? Me personally, the only thing that I change between HDR and non-HDR games is the backlight. Takes me about 10 seconds, but I understand if some people change more than that depending on whether their content supports HDR or not.
It's a big deal for me. I happen to switch between SDR and HDR game quite regularly and I got to change backlight 12 → 20, Smart LED low → high, Dynamic Contrast off → low.

Yeah, there's definitely noticeable input lag when not in game mode. I tried it with Everybody's Golf and it will totally mess up your timing if you don't have game mode on.

To give you an idea 1080 60Hz outside game mode is around 113.5ms while it is around 20ms in game mode according to rtings.com so yes game mode makes a very big difference.

I dunno man, I've completed all the challenges in Street fighter V , you know the combo ones?
But I wont argue , I'm pretty sure it's a fact that game mode is superior - but I have one last question does game mode still matter
when it comes to games that are 60 FPS like kof or street fighter v?

I've had this router for a couple years now and have never had it give me a single problem. Not even a little one, like needing to reboot it, etc. I watch 4K YouTube via the built in app all the time and it's flawless over WiFi.

Why are you watching anything in standard mode? Just use movie or game mode. That's it.

Input lag affects every single aspect of every single videogame you play on the tv. Every time you interact with a game and you're not in game mode those inputs you're making are taking 4 times as long to get to the tv.

Absolutely. Late last year I replayed the first 2 Gears games on my Scorpio, because I have my set top box passing through my Scorpio I usually have that particular input set to standard and change to game mode when I play games.

I had forgotten to switch over when I booted up Gears and the lag was bad enough to screw up my active reloads before realizing I needed to change to game mode.

So I don't really follow TV's that closely. Bought a KS8000 and am loving it based on recommendations from you guys and the old site. How is TV tech looking nowadays? I got an Apple TV 4K and I feel like I'm missing out since I don't have Dolby Vision but I don't think I'd want to get another TV so soon anyway.
