why are people salty about cody wanting a rematch? he dominated cruz. he's a ko artist (9 out of his 11 wins). the rivalry between him and tj was great. i thought the fight was really close. he caught tj in the first (if memory serves me right). i mean, if theyre not doing tj vs dj, its the next best fight imo.
TJ's fight with Cruz was close as well. Unless it's a long-term champ being dethroned, or a draw/robbery, why hold up the division with an instant rematch when we could have new matchups? It's not like Garbrandt or Dillashaw are going anywhere. OTOH, if they rematch, and Garbrandt loses, he's out of the title picture for quite a while unless Dillashaw drops the belt, and any fights he takes just risk derailing contenders. And if Garbrandt wins, TJ gets shafted because nobody would want to see the same two people fight for the belt three times in a row.

Dana White's intentions and motives are irrelevant.

when it comes to booking title shots? oh sweet summer child.

i dont really get that argument when the alternative is tj holding up the division by dropping down to fight dj.

it doesnt change reality. but its useful to understand the reason why he had to wait. especially in the context of discussing a potential cody title shot, like we are.

when you use language like "they made him crawl his way back" it makes it sound like it was some tupac-slash-andy dufrain shit. where everyone was conspiring to keep him away from his dreams. tj against the world. when the real reason is that dana like money. dana like money a lot. and cruz/faber makes more money than cruz/tj.

i just dont think the fact tj had to fight assuncao while cruz fought faber is enough reason to discount a tj/cody rematch.

TJ vs DJ holds up the division for one fight. An immediate rematch between Dillashaw and Garbrandt means that one of the top 3 is out of the title picture for a considerable time and will most likely spend that time derailing other top 10 fighters.

Glad to see Cyborg is getting real competition instead of Amanda Nunes. What's the UFC bantamweight got to offer at featherweight compared to...the Invicta Bantamweight champion on an amazing streak of 1-1-1 in her last 3 fights...

Who wants to see cyborg beat complete no names? That division is a joke.

Romero vs Rockhold depends entirely on Rockhold's takedown defense, he'll control the fight standing up, imo.

Romero just turned 40 and we have already seen him fight the champ, so go Rockhold.
If Yoel looks old, him vs Bisping would be a nice match-up to close out that story and
to give Bisping a potential great win as his last.

Rooting for Rockhold because I don't need to see Whittaker vs Romero 2.

I'm more excited about Ortega vs Edgar than max tbh because I think Max would have wiped the floor with Edgar, this might be more competitive.

Oh yeah. Ortega vs Edgar would be a fine ass matchup.

I agree with y'all about the Rockhold vs Romero matchup.

I rewatched Rockhold vs Branch..... I had forgotten just how hittable Rockhold is and how bad a striking defense he has. The dude has little head movement. No wonder why Bisping knocked him out and how Branch was able to tee off on Rockhold. Rockhold has no answer for Pressure Fighters and fighters that are close to his size.

I keep trying to convince myself this card is worth the $220 I'd have to pay for the cheapest seats available...and failing.

I feel like this fight is going to depend entirely on Rockhold maintaining distance. He clearly has problems fighting people in the pocket and is chinny, and Yoel can knock anyone out.

Really close to call, leaning slightly towards Yoel for a 2nd or 3rd round TKO.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Rockhard catches No For Gay Jesus a few times with his signature check hook. It does catch people regardless of Rockhard's striking capabilities.

Lmao Rockhold should just refuse this shit and take the guaranteed Whittaker fight.

He won't but he should just for the Dana meltdown.

This doesn't even matter because he still fights Whittaker again if he wins. I just want Rockhold to win more now.
