Yeah, that's pretty weird timing. Same with Sarah. She went through all of this Japanese renting system bs, her boyfriend came to Japan and now she's in LA.
Life's weird like that at times.
doubt it, he's been there 10 years already and is fluent (not that that stops the microracisms, but japan's not really that shit about it if you can bear with it for 10 years already). i mean i presume he said it then and there - the commute is murder on him.
Love these guys and JJ's photography is awesome! Gonna miss him on the podcast but excited to see where things are headed and hope he will come back for a bit when the E3 hype train gets going.
JJ will be very sorely missed. (Who's going to sing the news intro now?!)
As an aside, pretty great to hear that 8-4 helped with the localization of Monster Hunter World!
I'm a big fan of the series purely from hearing these guys talk about it all these years, so it's very, very exciting to see this one have the potential to hit a huge audience!

I was listening to some EGM Live before I realized I probably have better things to do than listen to 10-15 year old game news. lol

Mark had a pretty good upgrade. Not sure of Sarah's situation. JJ had some clear reasons.

Coincidence. They're getting work, they seem to be doing well, they're still looking for interns, etc.
Mark just got a good opportunity and took it. Sarah likely left because she wanted to be back home in the States. Like JJ said, this has been building for a while with him. He's complained numerous times on the podcast about it, and now that the holidays are over and life is returning to normal, it's a good time to step back.
Glad I waited until the weekend was over to listen. Sad to see JJ (and Sarah) go. He's been an important part of my podcast listening experience for years now. Maybe he'll land somewhere that lets him guest on another podcast? Hope he continues with the Instagram photography. Really impressed with his talent.
Yeah, as someone who has a monster commute (1.5hrs+ each way), I can say it does take a toll on you. No amount of money can make up for the time away from my wife and daughter. I'm hoping to pave a way out for myself sometime soon.

Was this episode the first time Mark has mentioned that he has a kid...? I don't remember him ever talking about that either on the podcast or on his Twitter feed.
Wow, I never realized how claustrophobic the recording studio was.
Before this youtube video, I listened to the most recent podcast in audio form.

How, just how, have you never upgraded a weapon a certain way just to check it's (sic) stats, and then restarted the game to check another upgrade path?
If only the game told you what you were upgrading to ahead of time (and for increased specificity, the Internet existed so you didn't have to fuck with save systems to figure things out). Surely nobody had to rely on the Internet for MonHun information before. Surely the idea of autosaving hasn't been an incredible convenience to video games for the last twenty years or so.

Obviously Question Block would be the perfect name, but the NVC Podcast from IGN already uses it. You could always go with the japanese name ハテナブロック
