I rented this from Red Box and I'm just rushing through it to check it out. So far im half way done in 1 hr and 40 min, but my god it's gorgeous. I'll need to buy it eventually and actually take it all in.

The HDR on this game is so good, the game game looks incredible. Also the cinematic mode on pro makes a noticeable difference in image quality.

I tried, I swear, I tried to give Cinematic Mode a shot, but I just can't. 60fps is too good.

It feels so good to play Shadow of the Colossus at 60fps, hgggnnnnnnn

Never thought I'd see the day.

I'm playing this on my 65" LG OLED in HDR with the lights off and my surround sound system, and I'm just in awe.

PS: any filter settings to try to add some of the "haze" of the original art style?

Did you guys know that you can actually jump from this bridge into the lake below? :) Not from every point, some spots result in a death, like in the original.
Saw this first in the Easy Allies stream and then tried it out for myself.

I swear, any "purist" who claims that this doesn't capture the essence, atmosphere, and magic of the original was never going to be happy with a remake no matter what.

This absolutely IS the game I remember, only ten times better. It's a masterpiece all over again.

Finally booted up the game and played a bit. The game looks great in every aspect other than Wander. His face is straight up PS1 CGI during gameplay and looks emotionless and static in the midst of a Colossus battle. It's super distracting, but I'll keep hoping that it will be addressed via patch at some point.

Quick question: does playing through Hard Mode right off the bat unlock all of the art gallery items for Easy and Normal modes?

I 100% agree. I feel like I'm playing it for the first time again. It's simply outstanding.

I started on Normal and I'm not getting the Easy stuff, which is a shame.

They changed the intro didn't they.... I️ don't remember wanderer talking
And Bucca said, he's always talked. The intro and cinematics in general are almost identical. Some scenes have specific cinematography or editing changes though. For example some shots last longer, have slightly different lenses/distances and some are even 'upped' to increase focus to specific things. Some of my favourite changes are things like the maps clarity and the clean ui throughout. While I'll miss the pink ever expanding bubble - the new yellow circle and bar that grows out of it is a really clean piece of UI and will likely cause less issues when stamina is very high after multiple playthroughs.

One thing I've noticed is white-tailed lizards seem to give such a negligible increase to stamina when I'm looking at the stamina as a bar. I see my health go up every time I shoot down and eat fruit but the lizard tails see to not even be budging my stamina bar. Obviously, the significant increases to stamina had always been by defeating a Colossus and that's the same here but I swear I remember the lizard tails doing more than this.

I didn't know the game would have DLC. Seems like it makes the game a bit easier:

Wander's Pack contains six items, including three in-game add-ons:
• Ancient Bow – reveals the colossi's weaknesses from further away.
• Cloak of Fate – increases Wander's health regeneration rate.
• Spotted Steed skin – changes the look of Agro, your trusty steed.

Plus, customise your PS4™ with two dynamic themes – the Colossus Theme and the Agro Theme, and a pack of 16 PlayStation® avatars – one for each iconic colossus.

$9 AUD is a bit steep for three items, two themes, and avatars though.

The most important controversy hasn't even been mentioned yet.

Man. This just reaffirms how much I love this game. On track to beat it today for the umpteenth time. My number two favorite game of all time behind ocarina of time. Nothing compares to the thrill of riding on aggro as the colossi chase after you

Booted up and killed the 1st colossi. It's so god damn beautiful !

I literally had goose bumps and chills in the intro when Wander arrives on the big bridge, the music sways and the camera pans to show the game-world.

I am torn between performance and cinematic. Cinematic looks so good but the really good 60 FPS also looks incredible in how smooth everything becomes.

Not really? They're just unlocks, basically. Meant to make subsequent playthroughs more fun. There's no point in using them first time through.
Your last point is why I find it so weird, DLC like this is meant to be used the first time through. I've never seen a game offer day one DLC but not have it available for the first playthrough.

Oh my god. Guys. This is one of the most gorgeous games ever made. Wow. Bluepoint, you fucking wizards. The game itself has lost none of its magic, either.

Blown the fuck away.

Holy shit haha^

Anyway, also for newcomers, you can just shoot off the lizard's white tail if you don't feel like killing them for it.

Why does Argo keep slowing down.....it's driving me insane, I have to hold triangle to keep the sprint going. I don't remember doing this in the original

Playing a bit, a few nitpicks:

--When entering and exiting the map screen, the motion blur in the PS2 version was far more intense. I miss it.
--No more light shafts when under water. I miss that too.
--Wander in modern control mode handles like Ryu Hayabusa.
