He just talked down the threat of crypto in terms of it's market cap vs. other possible investments and markets

That's pretty good

So do I, was just unsure if people would panic sell since most people are clueless. Myself included sometimes

I'm in it for the long term. I'd probably let my holdings dwindle to $0 before I got out of the game. To me, you either believe in the tech or you don't. I'm not saying I believe in every coin, because I certainly don't (LOOKING AT YOU, FLASH AND ADC), but I think enough of where this train is headed that any sort of regulation won't stop it. I just don't understand the panic sellers.

So finally some positive crypto news from the sec hearing in the USA and what does the market do right after? Sell the news. This is deep bear territory right now, nothing can lift the market up it seems, its getting tiring.

25% boost in 8 hours isn't enough for you? It takes time to move money and stocks just crashed hard.

Stocks are recovering already today.

And i was talking about the eth/btc price right before the hearing and what its at now. We were abkve 750 for eth (important point according to Brandson and now back to 700)

Got some sudden nice financial related news so i have really absolute no reason to cash out any coins the next 2 years, no matter how low we go.
Hope the tethergate blow up waits 2 months (if there is one at all). I'm going to add a new chunk of fiat then. Would be good when it crashes at that time ;)

Would be really suprised if i'm not at least x4 and more in two years.

just goes to show how easy it can be to do a short term pump on low volume coins

it literally only took $25k of volume to do that(it's $75k now but it was actually slightly higher earlier with a third of that)

probably actually a good sign for the market for once that someone's pumping up a coin like that at the moment though

You're straight up delusional if you think this crash isn't "that bad". This is much bigger than the worst stock market crashes. Tons of people lost money. Also, Bitcoin isn't "banking the unbanked". It's straight up useless for that purpose.

So is it safe to go back in yet?

It's never safe, "investing" in Bitcoin is pretty much the same as gambling, this should be your mindset. No one can make any assurances. Don't put in any money you aren't willing to lose, follow the market and don't trust people that are "sure" about future price developments. No one knows whether it will continue to crash or not.

In Crypto the crashes are bigger and the pumps are bigger, and both are more frequent. You've only lost money if you cash out.

While that's true, there's no way to know whether new money will continue to pour in to keep the price propped up. There's no inherent value, and mining extracts a huge amount of value all the time. If you bought in at ~19000, I'd worry.

I think there's still too much money to be made for this to permanently 'be it.' Could be a while however before things start heading in a direction that can be considered good.

I mean, if you truly believe cryptocurrency/blockchain technology has revolutionary potential then this is just the beginning.

I'd understand investing less/pulling out money during bear season though.

This could be literally one guy trading himself with two accounts and luring desperate people into chasing a pump so he can make a nice profit.
Bam, top 30 marketcap. Nobody's gonna get rich at this volume though.

ultimately the market just needs to survive the next few years as speculation slowly gets replaced with actual substance from things launching and being used

we'll see how bumpy that transition ends up being

Taffy, there is nothing new from what you said. Everybody here knows the risks involved. The market has been volatile for years and huge swings are nothing new.
The gambling comparison is also not quite fitting in my opinion. In gambling you loose everything way faster. Crypto doesn't get suddenly to 0 because you bet on the wrong coin.

well as long as you're at least smart enough to avoid obvious scams like bitconnect anyways

I realize this is the crypto thread but my 401K is losing a shit ton more for me. My investments are blended (so stocks + bonds I think). Should I change my investments to bonds only? Or is that not going to help anything?

Christ I may as well have cashed it out with a penalty and put it under my mattress.

No, not really. People in countries that have gone through hyperinflation have protected their savings with Bitcoin. Other countries have restrictive financial systems for locals that cut people off from the system, Bitcoin is a way to move money when they otherwise could not. Useless is ridiculous hyperbole. There is a long way to go before the tech is able to help everyone, but world changing innovations take time.

This is amazing. An obvious scam still has value for some reason.
When coins disintegrate like this I sometimes wonder if people pick up some at low prices just so they can say "lol I have some Bitconnect"

The Bitconnect dollar value may have plummeted through the floor but it's meme value is at an All Time High.

Yeah, but then again scams are everywhere irl. DYOR. Saw warnings about bitconnects since i got interested in crypto and people still ate it up for a long time. A bit of reading and googling would give you at least a bad taste in the mouth. If you then put $10k into it, don't cry later.

For me crypto is really a very interesting hobby. The tech, the market mechanisms / hype cycles, the shills are all intersting and entertaining. If it generates a couple dozen k €, even better. Would be interested even if i had no money in it.
