I'm hoping in some form or fashion they'll add bosses like Onslaught or Apocalypse like in the old Marvel games in the future. An Oozaru or Hirudegarn in that vein would be pretty fun from a single player perspective.

Finally got a chance to lab (my weekend was super cramp with superbowl and other activities). Was able to lab the Air combos in less than an hour. This is epic for me- I never could staircase to save my life in MvC:I.

Going to practice a bit more to lock this into memory so it doesn't fly right out of the window as soon as I go online

By air combos do you mean 2M, M jump cancel into whatever?
If so, just remember that doing M,L deals more damage than L,M in the air, and even though the L,L autocombo has the same animation and damage as L,M, it leaves you in a different position in the air.

You probably already know this, but if you do, hopefully someone who doesn't know will see it lol.

I make video games for a living, and although I avoid networking like the plague, this is kinda of fucking incredible. I don't even know how to fuck up this bad.

this explains why i suck so much tho clearly it's happening to me even tho i don't play 18 and neither has anyone else i've played against:smug:

Man I knew I wasn't crazy; doing the BnB with 18 has to take different timing than some of the other characters. She can straight up whiff her second air string after the jump cancel because of height issues between her and her opponent.

Meanwhile, I switched to Goku, SSB Vegeta, and U.Gohan just to test out synergy on ranked and I swear to god the timing is super lenient with those three, especially Goku and Vegeta.

I am really curious on what the hit boxes are like on a lot of these moves.

Alright, I got this game over the weekend and I love the core of it. Been playing fighters for a long time now, so I'm familiar with the territory at least, though still getting used to the mechanics and pacing. Currently, I'm using a 360 MadCatz stick on PC, but I feel DBZ lends itself to a controller quite well. Can't decide which to use really.

Speaking of decisions, finding a team with synergy that I enjoy playing has been difficult. My favorite so far is Gotenks/Krillin/18, though I'm unsure how "optimal" they really are together (Gotenks assist works well with 18's setups for me, but I'm hardly consistent). Really enjoy Yamcha as well.

Have yet to go online and fight... Probably won't anytime soon.

Had a few hella good games with people who knew what they were doing - one that was intense as hell as well.

Then my entire mood is soured because I run into this guy who again only knows the superdash, dragon rush and where L and M is located on his whatever it is he plays on. It's ridiculous.. unless you nail the timing on 2H you're always going to be at a disadvantage vs. superdash. Jumping right above someone and then superdashing even bypasses block for w/e reason. Autocombos (especially M) shouldn't be doing up to 4k worth of damage, it's ridiculous.

Also because you're constantly being defensive versus someone who just spams super dash at every opportunity (and boy don't you love the tracking on auto combos? As if they needed more of a crutch!) they build meter like fucking crazy while you're not getting nearly as much. So one dragon rush or super dash and you're sure as fuck eating a knockdown into super.

So ive been thinking that the premium Z coins may be used for something else in the future. Its a little redundant to give us z-coins in capsules that are ONLY used to buy... more capsules.

Does anyone else think that they may use these as a currency for something else in the future? Im saving mine, so hopefully they do!

Desync thing is weird, but I'm sure it'll be fixed. SFV and Killer Instinct both had a similar issue too IIRC. I remember seeing videos showcasing it happening for them.

If you're in the air and you block a superdash, you can get all your air actions back (so you can double jump and airdash again if you already used them). Also don't ALWAYS try to 2H, you'll miss if they're close. Deflect or just block.

You get z-coins for getting duplicates. The z-coins are used to ensure you don't get a duplicate.

Anyone know if reflect is a 1f move? Can you reversal reflect like you can reversal blitz in guilty gear? Someone in twitch chat said it was a 1f move but I'm not sure.

I honestly doubt it. If I recall correctly, Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 had the same mechanic, only with fish. Instead of throwing capsules, your lobby character fished up stuff like colors, titles and whatnot, and when you got a duplicate, you'd get a fish instead. If you gathered ten of them you'd get a guaranteed new item/color/whatever.

Yes, it's 1F startup. Stays active for a bit too, so it's pretty lenient. Anything that's not a true blockstring is susceptible to it.

The timing is a bit more strict on that though.
As far as I know, your optimal air combo BnB/one that is universal to everyone who has a 2H that launches is:
2M
M
jump cancel
M
L (either a second L, or if their L is a multi hit like Gotenks just let it do all hits)
2H
Super Dash
(Depending on the character, you may need to delay this slightly)
L
L
2H
jump cancel
(Finishing it off depends on the character. Just try it out. If you have a level 1 that can pick up people off the ground, like Trunks Burning Attack, just do something like L,H, land, Burning Attack. If you have an air super, you can go for that: Gotenks can do L,M, 236M,214S, level 3.)

Obviously you can get fancier than that, but that'll work for the majority of the roster, and is more effective than 2M, M, jump cancel, L, M, jump cancel, L, M, 2H, super dash, L,L,M, whatever. That combo is good for ending with Vanish into dragon rush for the snapback though.

What determines the square color next to your name? I've played people around my rank or lower but they have a different color. I'm at 250000bp and still have the light green one

I'm still confused lol
That tweet is very awkwardly written...

But basically you start at White, then once you play enough, you go to Yellow-Green. From there you go higher with successive wins, or lower with successive losses. So if you're at light-green it kinda sounds like you've been winning and losing equally?

What rank are you? Mine didn't switch to orange (I think I got it around SSJ2?), and then pink (got it at Demon rank) until I got to a certain rank as well. But I also heard of people getting to pink threat square by playing only ring/arena matches so I dunno.

57/67 (83%)

Not sure why it's not changing then

Well I have literally no idea then lol

I think I was still white square, despite playing about 20 matches total. (And being around 50%.) I'm either Earthling or Namekian, I forget if I got bumped up at the end last night.

It depends on the color squares you're winning against and how consistently you are against them.

Square colors can be promoted/demoted through any online match, not just Ranked.

Rank is not associated with square color; someone who is of a low rank can still be a pink square, and someone of a high rank can still be green.

Yup. I fought someone with 0 ranked matches who was pink last night. It takes all online battles into question.

That seems.... strange to say the least. All I get from that is that it's an indicator of the skill based matchmaking not working and the colors showing you by just how much lmao.

I kind of hate the quick change . Since the command is f.tag, it screws with me every time I want to push forward and call an assist. I often times get tags when I don't want them.

Yeah, it's annoying. What you need to do is hold down-forward while calling the assist to call them while moving forward.

What's the deal with Fat Buu? I never see anyone play him. What sort of character is he?

I like his 5.m overhead and his level 1 super is nice, but I feel like he's a lot less obviously strong than most of the cast. I have no idea what kind of team he wants or where he wants to be.

I'm namekian with 33 wins out of 44, I think, but I'm still yellow because I've played a bunch of casuals and arena matches too (I wanted those stupid arena trophies lol, thank god there aren't ring ones).

Fat Buu is a setplay monster. People are sleeping on him. He's definitely not on the weaker side of things.

His big thing people are focusing on is his 214S. With an offensive assist he can end a combo into it and then force a mixup that your opponent has to guess on. He seems solid, but it sounds like he really needs assists to be effective, moreso than a lot of other popular characters like Cell or 18.

You can't punish Super Dash after blocking. You are supposed to punish it on reaction. If you end up blocking, then the neutral is effectively reset at point-blank range, so it's a scramble.

It's best to deal with it by reacting and anti-airing it, like with any character's 2H (d.H) rather than ever blocking it in the first place. If they're very close range, it's difficult to do this, however.
Interesting, I'll try this out. Is this true for all characters or are there any that can punish a blocked SD somehow? With 21 I'll 2M and then dash or SD at them depending on how good the player has shown their reaction time to be.

Any tips for when they super dash from really high up in the air and you're on the ground? I find it very hard to time the 2H in that situation and I usually try to super dash at them too.

.

Problem is when you're facing characters with long reach who will instantly mash after a blocked super dash. Doubly so if you're playing Vegeta who has relatively short reach. If you do manage to get a hit in, they will still be in the air - so the only viable hit after a blocked superdash would be a 5M in order to then JC and go into an air combo. On the other hand, if they mash and they get you.. you're on the ground so it leads to an easy combo.

Ooh I've found that if your being pressured into the corner a block switch counters that pretty well unless they 2H you as soon as you switch out. A good way to get out of the corner and regain your bearing. I forgot I could do that until recently.
