I'm not sure why I was so fascinated by my horse's eating habits but here we are lol.

I uploaded the next few videos to some other threads already which were discussing combat but they never made it to this thread yet! Some yummy combat stuff to follow! Then finally I'll have uploaded all my vids from that one play session from weeks ago! Phew!

Just saw this pop up in my Subscription feed, nothing big, just a little snippet of insight into design process of the DLC, straight from Fujibayashi's and Aonuma's mouths.

I watched that and it immediately made me play BOTW after seeing it lol. I still haven't touched the meat of either DLC yet. Working my way towards them both. Still tons of chests to get too. I had to block my view a bit when watching to avoid however minor "spoilers" they showed.

I remember when Vah Ruta was my first Divine Beast. I still didn't know what BOTW was yet!

Back in here again is awesome. I did Medoh first this time. Slowly inching my way towards DLC2 and I can start DLC1 any time.

And still so many chests and shit I didn't do the first time. Damn BOTW.

I remember seeing those two clips of hijinks of yours in one of the other BotW Combat tips threads lol Goldie got fucked!

I loved the Champion's Ballad DLC moreso than the Master Sword Trials one personally, and I say that as someone who loved Eventide. There are just some floors of that trial (some earlier on too, before you reach a point where you can save) that are just designed to fuck with you unless you're either a) confident as fuck in your timing in combat, or b) always looking to think outside the box in fights, which, in your case, is gonna be exactly what you're gonna love.

Naboris was my first beast, since I spent the first big chunk of the game on the Southern side of the map. I spotted a shrine from the last of the Great Plataeu shrines, and marked it on my map. After getting the paraglider I was like "Ah, it'll be five minutes, Kakarikio can wait a moment." Weeks later, over 100 korok seeds, several stamina increases, a Great Fairy and some sick stalfos-luchador clothes I'm wandering back to the road beneath the Plataeu when I spot Farosh over the bridge...

Glad you liked! It's always fun beating up some goldies!

I go kinda crazy with the video clips. I actually filled up the video limit and found out it's 775 total, with 100 saveable on system memory if I'm not mistaken.

I beat Ruta again and felt compelled to a save a bunch of stuff from today. So close to uploading all those replays, it'll feel good to get that batch out of the way. Unfortunately there's still a ton more lol. This game is just too photogenic.

I actually only went for Eventide Island at my 400th hour of play. I had an idea what it was when I read people talking about it but only recently discovered what it was actually about. Still didn't do it yet. I'm also ready for DLC 1's trial, I'm just stalling until I go do that. I'm now 2 Divine Beasts down as well.

Still sooooo much to do and see.

I finished the Champion's Ballad last night and boy was it glorious. The final battle was fun too as was the music. The last memory was charming. The motorcycle is awesome as fuck. Who needs a teleporting horse anymore?

Then I finished off the night by killing two Lynel's. The one in the colosseum (fire) and the other on top of that hill above the Zora. (electricity) Went for a third one (Near Mount Daphnes I think) but got knocked out immediately so I decided to just go to bed. I'm just trying to upgrade all my armor.

I need to figure out a good plan for getting a bunch of dragon parts though. I can rarely seem to hit them and when I do it's usually just the scales. It's so hard to hit the other parts which I'll need to upgrade my classic Link outfit. (Each level requires a different dragon part from each) Guess I just have to fly closer. Do some bows fire straighter than others? It's easier to hit properly when I don't have to account for gravity.

The Dragon materials are certainly a chore by the end, but I remember getting it down to a good formula.

For Farosh, teleport to the Lake Tower, look towards the lake itself, and glide down to the bridge tower on your left. It helps immensely if you have the Gerudo helm, or other electric resistance gear. Park up there, throw together a campfire (unless it's raining), and rest until night. Then wait looking out over the Ya Naga shrine inside the Hylia Island, Farsoh will show up between 9 and 12, flying slowly along the edge of the lake. Your first trigger is when the wind gusts start to pick up, but don't strike yet; wait until Farosh is literally flying in front of your tower, then jump to take flight. If you've timed it well, you'll have a good angle and distance on the horns, teeth and scales, for the claws wait until the first set of arms are in view. Once you collected the material, warp back to the Lake Tower, and rinse and repeat until you have enough.

For Naydra, teleport to Jitan Sa'mi Shrine, the Spring of Wisdom atop Mount Lanayru (after completing the quest to unlock Naydra that is, but at your stage I think that's done lol), run out and face west past the Hylia statue, so that you can see the Lanayru Promenade. Frost resistance gear and buffs are a must here. Glide down as best you can to the left-hand cliff overlooking the entrance to said Promenade (also overlooking that clearing where the Lynel patrols, if you know the one). Throw down a camp fire, and wait until night. Keep looking at the mountain you glided from, and Naydra will spawn, flying down directly to you, it's route being straight through the promenade. Again, once it's actual head is within jumping distance, leap up, glide and immediately go in for a shot, regardless of what material you're after this is the best bet of getting one quickly. Once you've grabbed the material, warp back to the Spring of Wisdom, and again, rinse and repeat.

For Dinraal, teleport to Tena Ko'sah Shrine in the Ancient Columns (the one south of Rito Village and the Fairy Fountain, also is a spot for a Memory), get some fireproof/resistance gear or buffs, throw down a camp fire behind the shrine (so as to not immediately attract enemies or wildlife if you're into saving time) and wait until morning this time. Once morning has come, run south along the edge, so that you're looking over Tanagar Canyon, where Dinraal will visit during the day. I cannot remember the specific spot I found to guarentee a good hit on the dragon here, as this was the only one of the three I was jumping down towards rather than up which makes steering while gliding harder. Regardless, the method is still the same, get as close to that head before trying to pop a shot, and as long as you keep teleporting back to Tena Ko'sah and camping again, it'll keep respawning.

As for bows, for scales (which I know is not really top of your priority) get a multiple hit bow (I think the Korok one does this), since it trebles the chance of a hit. Once it's been hit once in an encounter, that's all you're gonna get until it respawns next time, so best not to be trigger happy with it. As for long range bows, the Rito based bow sets are the best for distance; Swallow and Falcon come to mind looking at my save right now. The Shiekah style bow - the Phrenic bow, I think has good range too, and I believe (may be wrong) it is also a sniper one to help with aim for occasions just like this.

Hope any of this helps anyway!

I *always* see Farosh. It just always seems to be circling around nonstop when I'm anywhere near that area. Like, I find it odd when it's NOT there.

Don't worry. I have all kinds of protective armor. I haven't been hurt by a dragon in forever. I do know where the electric one seems to show up a lot though. In the jungle by that bridge and the waterfalls where the bananas grow. The red one is usually in the canyon. And the white one was on that mountain where I saved it. I loved that part.

You know for something as evilly named Malice, it sure doesn't really do much but sit around. Some of them spit out skulls but for the most part it just sits on the ground and walls and looks at you. That's pretty much all it did during the dragon rescue.

Looking over my map with the green Heroes Path overlaying it there are a bunch of places I haven't even touched yet. Gonna have to do some exploring. Has anyone tried walking all the way across the map yet? I was gonna start at the desert leviathan shrine and try walking diagonally all the way to the maze in the northeast corner. Just to see how long it takes as straight as I can. If I had the tools I'd even record myself.

After the Lizalfos came a Guardian.

Hmm I don't get how you're supposed to hit the bottom on time. Unless you just need to be super damn quick.

I had no intentions of buying this game. It didn't speak to me whatsoever. The world (at least) looked empty, didn't like the weapons durability issue, hardly any music(?), repetitive shrines and almost no story(?). These are/were my impressions from listening to others. I sort of still have these fears about it, but nonetheless I really want to play it. Many weird feelings for sure. Gonna get it on eShop and give it a try, as a "casual experience" whenever I have time. Hope it works.

Do it! The world is pretty well spread out and populated for a sandbox, bunch of good towns and stables, spread across one of the more visually interesting maps I've ever played. Weapon durability becomes a non-issue if you start to play with the mechanics of combat more (you'll start the game proper with several tools that elevate fighting beyond what a sword could ever do), Shrines are pretty digestible though yeah, I can't argue some will get repetitive, fortunately, they're pretty spread out enough that, as long as you aren't treating it like a checkbox game (i.e. I have to get these shrines), they become another great little discovery once you find one. Music is subdued, but it's all there, and it knows when to a) ramp up for action, and b) exactly the kind of songs you want to hear from the past games. As for story, yeah it's not Zelda's strongest, but the way it tires to execute said story is interesting, something I'd love them to take a serious stab at next time. Biased as hell since it's my GOTY, one of my GOAT, but I think you'll love it!

I'd say all those fears are wrong. The game is nearly perfect. Sure there are some duplicate shrines, but they're pretty much just the battle ones and they usually have some slight difference. Puzzles may reuse the same ideas but they're usually different enough in their outcome. Weapons break but there's so many all over the place and most respawn frequently. By most I mean all except for the special story weapons which don't respawn but can be rebuilt by other means. The music works super well. It's ambient and not in your face. It works great. And it's as dynamic as it has been in Zelda since OoT. And there's plenty of story. And even more if you get the DLC. (Get the DLC) The game makes you think differently than you've had to in Zelda games before. There's usually more than one way to do something. More than one way to get somewhere. At first you'll feel like a weak failure, but after not too long you'll feel like you can conquer the world.

Tip: Alternate between stamina and hearts when doing your upgrades until you fill out your stamina. And if you decide later that you made a mistake and want to move them around to get more hearts or stamina instead there's a certain statue in a certain town that can help you out. A young NPC will show you where it is when you meet them if you want. In the vanilla game you have enough shrines to get 27 of 30 hearts and a full three tier stamina wheel. (The two wheels are divided into 5 pieces each for a total of 10 upgrades) If you decide to get the extra three hearts you will only have 2.4 stamina wheels. If you get the DLC you will be able to get one more heart or 1/5 of a wheel if you choose. Of course that's if you decide to get all 120 shrines (124 + 12 if you have the DLC. The other 12 don't give orbs for upgrading and are for something else.)

Believe me. When I started the game I was frustrated and didn't know what to do to get off the "Tutorial Island" so I put it away for about 2 months. When I finally came back after figuring out how to make the right food I haven't put it down since. Now I just have to get all the Korok seeds, or at least enough to upgrade the rest of my bow and shield slots. Oh and all the outfits. And all the upgrades for the outfits. And fill out my compendium. And, what? Ganon? What about him? Oh, you want me to defeat him too? The Hero of Time can't catch a break. Seriously, once you finish the four shrines on the plateau and get the paraglider, the game opens the hell up so much.

If I could make a suggestion, I'd definitely make my way to the Rito village in the Hebra territory (Northwest) and finish that dungeon first. The item you get for that will help so much for the rest of the game.

I guess if there's some drawbacks it's that the shrines all have the same theme and the dungeons all have the same theme and the bosses of each, while different in fighting style, are pretty much the same guy just dressed differently. But they're different to fight and the fun is trying to figure out what to do. But there's a lot of overworld mini-boss fights to do too. Plenty of Lynels, Hinoxes, Taluses and Muldugas to fight and get plenty of goodies. Basically the entire world is your dungeon. It's full of puzzles and dangers. Many of the towers (What you need to climb in order to fill in your map for that area) are a challenge itself as most of them are being protected by some really determined bad guys so by the time you finally make it to the top you feel like you've accomplished something.

Big thanks for the info! Highly appreciated! Now I just have to wait 11-12 hours before the kids are asleep. Gonna have to deal with this game in somewhat shorter bursts late at night.

I just hopped back in a week or two ago to finally check out the DLC. Ended up:

Getting a bike
Finding the last handful of shrines
Powering up the Master Sword

I think I enjoyed it even more than I did when I played it the first time. Except now I have a shiny new sword and nothing left to kill with it. Hopefully there's more DLC on the way. It would be a shame have a Hyrule this good and not do anything else with it.

I need to keep attempting the Trial of the Sword. That powered up master sword is tempting but it's so hard. Still pissed I was taken out by a cheap shot on the Lizalfos floor.

How did you guys go about in finding the locations of Memories?

Some that looked familiar, I managed without a guide, but I'm not sure if I can do that for all of them. I've got two down so far...

Does he appear at random stables, because I did come across him with my first memory, but can't remember the stable name.

He appears at a few stables as well as Kakariko Village. There's more stables than memories. Each one is a different memory though. So if you already found that memory he's not going to tell you another one.

Iirc he's in a few of the stables around central Hyrule. The one south of the plateau has a memory nearby, I think.

I saw this video a couple of weeks ago, but couldn't find it again. Someone posted it in the GOTY Picks blog thread today, thankfully. I didn't know about a lot of the stuff in this video.

Still playing through my first time... JUST started the 2nd divine beast (desert one) and learning the puzzle. Trying to never Google anything when I get stuck. So far, some things I got quick... others, not so much lol.

Having an absolute blast. Amazed I stayed blind to so many cool things all this time.

Hardest part is remembering where shit is. I had so many notes on paper before I started really using map markers heh.

If I didn't have work early, I would be playing right now ;P

Just bought this and have a few questions. The game's only "hard mode" is through the first DLC right? If I buy the DLC, can I jump right into hard mode or do you need to beat the game first?

Finally "finished" it over the weekend and man what a game, this game absorbs you, it's the only thing I've been thinking this past two months since I started it, (even made me put on hold my Yakuza 0 playthorugh).

At only 39% completion, this is one of those games you don't wanna run out of content or things to do, It's just so much fun exploring/traversing the world, last night I spend like two hours just swimming down the river looking for this guy's wife, and along the way I found like 15 koroks, and met a couple of NPCs I haven't seen before.

Still, I might search for a few shrines more and then take a break to play something else, before I dive into the DLC.

Right after you beat the story, I loaded the last autosave to keep playing and it was there in the map screen.

I like everyone else played the hell outta this at launch...I eventually moved on but it never fully left my mind.

Here lately I'd been getting the itch to do another play through....reading this OT def. got me hyped lol.

Man it has sucked me back in all over again. It's cool because I still remember enough to where it isn't foreign but it feels fresh and new again.

No hyperbole this might be my favorite game ever...it's just pure goddamn magic.

I'm down the rabbit hole once more and am more than happy to be so....

Do korok seeds respawn? Was fighting some Lizalfos in Gerudo Desert outside of town and accidentally destroyed a cactus needed for a korok seed. I've tried sitting at a campfire and waiting and cutting down the trees, but the voltfruit won't respawn. Do I have to wait for a blood moon, or is the seed gone forever?

That's not how it works so don't worry. The cactuses will come back later. The "puzzle" will never disappear until the seed is collected and marked with both a pin on the map and a Korok on the overworld. But you may need to unload and reload the map or wait for a respawn, yes.

Halfway through the Champions' Ballad quests. This is my second game run so I'm doing a lot more loot farming and upgrading... got the Barbarian Helm and Leg Wraps maxed, can't quite part ways with the Champion Tunic though.

Love this fn game

I got the Ancient Armor and upgraded them a bit and I am a goddamn Guardian killing machine now combined with my upgraded sage powers. I just need two more Ancient Cores and two more Star Fragments to get them all to the max level. Cores are so rare and I'm finding it difficult to get shooting stars to appear consistently.

i have a hard time to navigate, to fight and to know where to go the next. i never had problems with zelda(link to the past-twilight princess, havent played any newer zelda)
this game feels very hard and not handholding at all. somehow i feel always lost.
is there some sort of trick?

now i have to search for the 12 photos, the titans and ganon. i dont know what to tackle first because... i only remember 1 place so far from the photos.
the titan-places seem to be super far away and ganon, well that must be the final quest.
any hints?

P.S:i dont want to look at a FAQ/YT-video

Which is exactly how Zelda fans want it. The most recent games got way too hand-holdy. Starting with the Minish Cap literally telling you how to do a puzzle before you even step foot in the room, Fi with her constant hints. Even Midna was pushy, and we love Midna.

The trick is to talk to everyone and explore everywhere. If you need hints the quest log will point the way in most cases.

The painters at the stables and in Kakariko will give you hints to the painting locations. Some you might find on your own just by exploring everywhere. If you have the DLC you can toggle the Hero's Path in the map to show you where you haven't been yet. I don't think you even require the photo memories. They're a separate quest from the titans and defeating Ganon. Theoretically you could just waltz in on Ganon right now if you have the guts.

I assume you've made it off the Plateau, I suggest heading northwest first to Hebra and the Rito village, then east to the Zora domain and do those two beasts first. And always make sure to buy the outfits for those locations. They help immensely for the rest of the game.

You can go directly to Ganon now if you want to - it'll only be very challenging. :-) You're correct that there is no handholding, and there is no "correct" order to do things in.

You'll probably find a few of the photo places (or at least the likely region of the photo) when you discover more of the world. Otherwise, make sure to talk to the
painters
you meet around the world. They will give you hint locations.

The world is huge in this game, specially compared to all other Zelda games. Make sure to find shrines to teleport to, and activate the map towers. Taming a good horse can also be useful. Talk to the people you meet.

Discover things by yourself is my best advice. The personal discoveries on my journey I made is one of the main reasons why it made it so very special to me.

Just finished up the main quest in Champion's Ballad. I still got a few costumes to collect and I still haven't completed Trial of the Sword. But things are nearing the end. Feels odd knowing that I will have to wait a few more years until a new Zelda. I think this game has elevated above Ocarina of Time to be my favorite game of all time.

I guess I can use the Zelda down time to finish up Majora's Mask 3D.

Almost 70hrs in ( my Switch must be stuck at over 60hrs because it's been saying that forever) and I haven't taken down a Lynel yet.

Whenever I see one I'm out of there!.

I've seen videos of them and they appear super strong and take very little damage. And not mention they have different types of attacks and they all look challenging to dodge.

So, is there a easy/weak one, or are they all the same :ie very powerful? :)

They're mainly just tanks but easily exploitable after fighting one or two. My best bet is to scope out the entrance to Mount Lanayru, if you follow the path from Kakariko's fairy fountain along the promenade, you'll come across him. My best advice is to cook up a bunch of defence potions/food to "practice" on him, Clothing upgraded to two stars plus a Low/Medium sentence boost will leave his attacks as dangerous as a Moblin. From there, just learn to keep circling him and dodging when he telegraphs (I know it looks frantic now, but they are designed to be easy to read, they just have more attacks than other enemies in the game). I love stumbling on Lynels by now.

So I found the Master Sword yesterday. Do I need to do anything else other than have 13 heart containers? The Deku Tree gave me a quest but do I need to complete that before I pull out the sword?
