Did the EZA crew get accounts here?
Some have.

Blood & Brad did. People speculate Damiani has an account but hasn't posted in this thread. And really after getting burned a number of times engaging on the old board Damiani stopped posting in the thread. So him not posting here wouldn't surprise me. That Mario guy had a weird hatred fixation with Damiani

Just to add a little bit more to this:

Brad: "See ya. Bye."
Kyle: "Yeah, that's our opinion basically. 'See ya.' Yeah, that is it. If you're curious what the Easy Allies opinion is, it's 'See ya!'"
Wow, brutal, lol. Kyle telling it like it is..Seriously, that is such a Bosmanesque response, I'm kinda surprised, but glad they commented. I still haven't gotten to listen to it yet.

Regarding your spoiler, Ian said they would be doing one on twitter a week or so ago. Not sure when, though.

Thank you Ian, I must have missed that tweet!

It was supposed to be a Metacritic tweet with a quote from the review, but it seems they deleted it because they put an incorrect Metacritic score (87 instead of 97).
Cool, thanks. Looks like they've put up a corrected tweet now.

I just finished the EZA Podcast and I think this is one of those rare times I preferred it to Frame Trap. It's mostly because I'm just not that interested in any of the games discussed on Frame Trap but I really enjoyed the Ghost of Tsushima talk, rank the significance and the review criticism discussion on the EZA Podcast.

I do hope next year Kyle will finally get the betting teams right next year though. We've had two years of Bosman/Jones vs everyone else with the exact same results. Just frame the entire thing around Bosman vs Jones, even if it turned out one sided again, at least the banter would be fun.

Includes a hot-take on NeoGAF:

"NeoGAF is bad now. Don't go there... that is just a forum that's no fun anymore." - Bosman, 2017.

Just to add a little bit more to this:

Brad: "See ya. Bye."
Kyle: "Yeah, that's our opinion basically. 'See ya.' Yeah, that is it. If you're curious what the Easy Allies opinion is, it's 'See ya!'"

People who for some reason really wanted them to talk about it, there you go. Pretty much sums up all that needs to be said.

Sucks if that was a main reason for him to fade out. I appreciated it so much when he talked to us about the game sleuth status etc. Which by the way I hope the new boost in view numbers for game sleuth were a nice moral boost. Cause I think Damiani talked about being somewhat disappointed when he launched. Hope that gives more cred to the people that said back then that it was mostly cause it was a new brand name and had to rebuild it's viewerbase not cause of the content itself.

No it doesn't. The important/relevant part is the cause and effect, not the aftermath.

I understand how much Kyle avoids serious subjects, but as someone who frequented and talked about GAF as much as he did he should've talked about the whole thing. It's the coward's way out.

I guess I just don't see the point. Everybody knows why the site isn't a good place to be anymore. There's nothing to analyze or interpret or any other way to look at the situation other than it is what it is. The site is dead to us, goodbye website, the end.

It was a news source. He references it as a source of the news he finds relevant to the podcast topic any time he's mentions it. And now he's said on camera this week it's no longer a place to be at and don't go to it. That's all that needs to be said at this point. If he uses ResetEra in place of that for whatever reason, it'll be treated as a source of news as well.

Kyle did direct people to the kotaku and waypoint articles on last week's podcast. And you can be sure the site won't be relevant to any of his news pieces going forward. I don't think the podcast has ever really focused on social issues. Kyle's pretty consistent about keeping focused on games, trends, and public relations in regards to developer/publisher actions. By the nature of the event, the old era is no longer relevant, not worth talking about. Old news, not worth our time. Move on and use our time to discuss better things, like PGW.

I'm not actually sure that GAF imploding is news worthy for the purposes of a gaming focused podcast. It's news worthy for us for obvious reasons, but to the rest of the world? Not clear to me if anyone really cares. It's interesting in the same way the digg exodus was interesting, e.g. from an online community behavior perspective.

So... I don't really mind it not being discussed much.

My one personal hot take on the podcast and news items is that I like the rapid fire "do we actually want to talk about this" style news segments, where if the allies don't really have much to say on the topic they can just move on to the next one. Can cover more topics that way too, uncomfortable or otherwise.

Brad's "See ya." cracked me up.

That's really disappointing. I understand not everyone will like the entire crew, but at the very least, be respectful. :/ I hope Damiani will find this thread welcoming enough to post again one day. I would certainly appreciate his input on things.

But did he really? All I've heard Kyle do is cite NeoGAF as a source for news or industry tidbits, which it was. It's still 100% fine to say that you loved and respected GAF for that, it's also the whole reason why so many of us are into Era and why it felt so good to have it work so fast and so successfully, because it can be its replacement. When Kyle says "read what happened from these reliable sources" and "don't go there anymore", you know he values the news source less than he does the relevant parts of the cause and effect, as you've put it.

Have they talked about when they're going to do the GotY discussion for this year? I remember them takling about how games that come out later in the year get a somewhat unfair advantage for being fresher in your mind and perhaps even still being in the honeymoon phase with those games. I'd actually prefer it if they did it in early January instead, after the Holidays, when everyone's back, recharged and ready to go. I think they mentioned that they wanted to do something like for this year's GotY discussion.

Fucking YouTube sticking an advert right in the middle of Jones speaking during the Mario review.

I finished the game last night and I have to agree with every word that Damiani wrote. Excellent review.

I really hope we get some GOTY discussion podcasts similar to the Giant Bombcast GOTY extravaganza, always helps me get through my long travel schedule over Christmas.

Sidenote: What are everyone's favourite podcast segments that aren't present every week? The rarer treats. I'm personally a big fan of:

- Rank The Significance
- Is This News?
- Yes or No and Why
- Kyle Feels Himself

'Kyle Feels Himself' and 'Is This News?' win out for me.

You've also made the grievous error of forgetting 'Poptart or Toaster Strudel'.

Rank the Significance cause I like to hear Kyle say that phrase. Lol. But I also like the whole pop tart / toaster strudel discussion every quarter. Even though I'll never understand how toaster strudel is the bad option. Heh

Yeah, the Hidden Agenda stream would have been better if they had just gone with Story Mode and an uneven player count.

Kyle Feels Himself is great but my fave would probably be Pop Tarts or Toaster Strudel. Toaster Strudel being the worst option is just so crazy it is hilarious.

if kyle wouldn't directly ask him questions from time to time i'm pretty sure he would manage to say nothing in an entire podcast lol.

Damiani seems like one of the more reserved ones out of the allies, but he always has something interesting and insightful to offer when prompted. I have noticed that he doesn't usually put himself forward in podcasts or the monthly Q&As (more so for the Q&As, I'd say), but I think that's just his personality. Thankfully the other allies prod him for his take on things often.

What happened to Damiaini? :(

Loving bosman's gaf bit, it was succinct and pretty much covered everything.

I personally loved it.

He knows that it's a topic that is going to rub someone the wrong way no matter how you talk about It, and I think Kyle is on the nose when he says that the topic itself has little do with actual video games, rather than the periphery culture surrounding games.

Kyle Feels Himself is the best segment if only for Brad's aghast reaction.

I just love how Kyle announces the section lol.

I just got to that part in the podcast, but "Damiani, get up on that mic!" should definitely be a segment on its own.

And while we'e a itit, "What's in your mug" needs to come back, too. Especially after it was teased because Brad wanted it back and Kyle simply forgot to include it in the next episode.

Watching older GT streams I'm really liking the freeform nature of one person streaming and others just randomly dropping in and out at any time. The studio needs to be a thing. When can it finally be a thing? =(

I remember a lot of weird and unwarranted criticism aimed at Damiani for his forthcoming Zelda review at the time, but if he is shunning 99% of the community that actually has his back as a result of a couple of weirdos, that's something I don't understand.

The thing is that when you're a pundit and working with criticism and analysis for a living, you have to accept that same level of criticism when its directed back at you. Sure you can fold up your tent because some dweeb says "you review Zelda games badly!", but by the same measure, Damiani's called Nintendo "idiots" for not making enough NES Classics but begged for more breathing room when he couldn't get Game Sleuths produced quickly enough. It's a two-way street.

What makes more sense to me is that working in a media company like EZA entirely crowdfunded through Patreon, Damiani's input has definite monetary value, the same as someone like Michael Pachter (although obviously on a much smaller scale), so his discussing his thoughts and views on a Friend Code, EZA podcast, EZA Q&A, or Twitch Stream (where Damiani can be especially candid), makes far more sense because it helps build EZA up rather than posting on a forum and giving away his livelihood for free.
