Anyone tried this on a Surface Pro 4, how's it hold up? The ability to take this game anywhere would be...hnnngg!
I'm trying to play with my DS4 without using DS4windows so I can see the DS4 prompts but it seems like the game is recognizing two controllers. For example if I press up, the cursor goes up 2 times :/

I think you may have to disable one of the controller options via Big Picture mode. I have this problem with Witcher 3, I usually uncheck the 360 pad option and that normally fixes it. Sometimes it could be the PS4 option that you need to uncheck.

I'll let you know what my settings are when I go home because the DS4 is working properly for me without using DS4windows.
Running at 1080p/60fps in Rabanastre for me. Using a 144Hz monitor but it limited to 60 automatically, which is nice. Any graphically-intensive areas where I can potentially see framedrops?
Only issue I have is that the audio seems slightly (like, a quarter of a second) desynced in FMV's and in-engine cutscenes. Not a dealbreaker, but mildly annoying.
Try disabling your Steam controller from Big Picture settings, I had that issue with the Witcher 3.
lol, ninja'd
Tested this out - Yes, it does manage to hit 60FPS (In Rabanastre, at least) but the framepacing feels "wrong" to say the least.
Going to stick with max settings at 1080p personally, but for anyone who really insists on 4K, turning all the Anti-Aliasing settings to minimum and turning off AO (Actually, it seems AO was the big one - Turning off AA got me to a stable 30, but turning off AO got me to 60) will get you 60FPS on a similar rig to mine.
Well, to be fair, any card is a "Budget Card" when compared to GeForce 10 prices ;)
I didn't need to do it when I set the game to borderless windowed and triple buffering. Is there any need to cap the game to 60 with rivatuner when the game caps itself at 60 anyway?
The borderless windowed mode doesn't seem to work right for me.I didn't need to do it when I set the game to borderless windowed and triple buffering.
Yeah, their SSAO is reportedly a huge drain, so it's recommended to only have it set at half-resolution at most.4K running at 30fps here as well. Will try without AO later. Is there any way to turn off the post-process AA?
Final Fantasy X/X-2 PC had quite a few as well:Whoa it actually has visuals options???? Although I can run it max no problem it's nice to have an FF with some actually options.
I hadn't known about the X collection options. I gotta get those on Steam.Final Fantasy X/X-2 PC had quite a few as well:
The FF PC ports are getting much better than before. They're actually putting some serious effort in and it shows.
X collection has good options and will run on a potato, but is sadly limited to 30fpsI hadn't known about the X collection options. I gotta get those on Steam.
The performance profile for this game is certainly weird.I will be disappointed if my GTX 1060 doesn't run this in 4K/60 and it seems to be the case. :(
i5 3570K + GTX 970 here, i'm running the game with the following settings and getting a locked 60fps
There are still a few things you can do to make it run well. Turning MSAA off is highly recommended, as it's a big FPS drain (and there's really competent mandatory postprocessing AA anyway). Really, anything more than 2x MSAA is absolutely not worth the performance hit it brings, especially at >1440p. Half-res ambient occlusion is also apparently much better-performing for a very similar look.I will be disappointed if my GTX 1060 doesn't run this in 4K/60 and it seems to be the case. :(
It's funny: I just downloaded this one expecting it to be awful, but it runs really well. FFIV, on the other hand, has battles capped at 15 FPS (?!?!?!?!?).Final Fantasy X/X-2 PC had quite a few as well:

Yeah max on 1080p is no problem not even a small dip in fps anywhere.
A bit coincidentally, I've been playing through the PC port of FF4 recently and it's just weird how little they improved upon the base Nintendo DS version. In addition to the low-FPS battles, there's still no texture filtering [!], which is super weird for a port that came out in 2014. It would have made a world of difference for both this and FF3 (here's FF3's tutorial boss without and with filtered textures, from the PSP version). They really have come a long way with FF ports in just a few years! It's funny: I just downloaded this one expecting it to be awful, but it runs really well. Yeah, those Matrix developed titles have not been given TLC needed. It's funny: I just downloaded this one expecting it to be awful, but it runs really well. FFIV, on the other hand, has battles capped at 15 FPS (?!?!?!?!?).
I actually just tried, disable both MSAA and AO and you're good to go.

Those are the FFX/X-2 settings.Does unsharp mask refer to the hideous texture filter? Can it be disabled to have environment textures closer to the PS2 version?

Good port
I did have to edit the .ini to turn off vsync though
This won't fully remove blurry stuff but I think disabling DOF helps. Stuff in the distance looks a lot sharper. DOF is not necessarily a bad thing, I just think they've overdone it here.

Anyone having any issues with the game making them feel slightly... nauseous? It's really weird, it's a feeling a get whenever the POV is off in a game but I'm not sure if this is the case here. I've been playing fullscreen 1080p 60fp and I've tried adjusting some of the options with no luck. I have to sit far away to ease to feeling I get. I literally had to just stop because I felt like I was getting sick. I can flip over to Path of Exile and play for hours on end but something with FFXII is really affecting me.
Yeah it sounds like this is the culprit. I was just reading a thread on Steam about this as well. I might finally hook up my Steam Link and see if I can play on my TV from a further distance. Thanks. The FOV at 16:9 is really narrow so it could be that. Hopefully they'll add an FOV slider in a patch; the engine clearly supports it as it expands the FOV on ultrawide screens.

Haven't moved past the opening video yet, as it immediately drops to 8-13 fps and audio and video is out of synch. I made sure it's actually using the NVIDIA and not the internal graphics card, turned msaa, vsynch and af all the way down/off in the settings, tried borderless, windowed and fullscreen, tried unplugging everything that is connected to my laptop - no changes. Oh well. Hope it will be patched soon.
This is a good excuse for me to stick with my PS4 version. I had the same problem with it, but it affects me less at 30fps.Yeah it sounds like this is the culprit. Mouse and keyboard feel okay? Controller isn't an option for me, so good m/kb control is essential.
