Getting 5 million in OutRun is harder than beating Mr. Shakedown. Do you have to beat him in order to continue?

OutRun isn't too bad. Take the left route and don't be afraid to brake, you have plenty of time.

You don't have to beat him but he is the best way of farming money. He's a pushover later once you can buy Zap Guns if you don't mind cheesing but he is doable before then by just baiting him into attacking and running in to get a few hits.

I wonder if the mashing actually mattered at all. Personally I never saw a difference despite how hard I mashed. Wouldn't be surprised if the devs played us a like shamisen, haha.
The mashing was necessary.

Problem was that the game tended to auto-decide for you whether you'd won or lost but if it HAD decided that you'd won, you still would've lost had you not been mashing.

So you HAD to mash in the chance that the RNG was in your favour.

There have been some rumblings coming from French retailers that Yakuza 6 has been delayed until mid-April. I'm trying to get to the bottom of this but so far I haven't been able to get an official denial from either SEGA or Koch Media.

Interesting considering SEGA have just kick started the advertising campaign for it, or at least from what I saw recently with the twitter exposure and webcomics.

I hope that's not the case!

Wow okay, I had no idea. Thanks for clarifying. I remember people in the OT giving up on the mashing. Good thing I never stopped doing that, because I always had the hope that it matters in a way. Seems like tha was the right call, haha.

I found the right route easier myself compared to the left route. Just because the second stage seemed easier to clear faster, as long as you were careful on the last bit (where the walls closed in on either side.

Also, general Outrun tip if you find yourself getting too close to a car or drifting off the course into an obstacle - shifting down is basically a very quick way to "stick" to the course to avoid collisions and generally it means you lose less speed than breaking. Only other thing I can recommend is being overly cautious compared to being reckless. You get more than enough time to get the high score in Outrun, slowing down here and there won't affect your run as much as flying off the course and crashing. And even if you crash, you can usually afford yourself 1-2 crashes before your run is ruined and you won't be able to hit the target score.

Apparently, Amazon France has been sending e-mails saying that Yakuza 6's release has been postponed until the April 19th to people who preordered the game. Still no official announcement though.

Sega do realise that GOW is out on the 20th of April right? Can they actually be stupider? I mean, unless they delay it until the end of October just to get it crushed further... It should either be released a week earlier if they can, or delay it another month to May just to get out of GOW's way. Silly Sega!

Would the delay affect its release in the US? I know at least one US outlet's played either a preview or has the game and will be talking about their impressions next week.

There have been a lot of preview sessions in Europe and in the US over the last couple of weeks. People could play the game in Paris yesterday for example.

Hoo boy progress in 0's real estate grinds to a halt on the 5th area. I wonder if there is a more efficient way to do this. Basically my loop is: cash out>invest in everything I can while retaining enough cash to buy another property>initiate collection>run and buy that property>cash out (sometimes takes twice to be able to afford the next property)>repeat. I don't have any 5 star advisors but I have two 4 stars. Should I go hunting for 5's so that the investment upgrades happen faster?

I'm at the finale chapter now and have been pouring nearly everything into real estate so I'm not upgraded much past any style's 100M yen tiers and obviously don't have Dragon of Dojima. How bad would the end be for me if I don't have it? I'm at like 38% in Media King's area and have 4 or 5 of the 9 properties and each of those left are around 1B yen to buy. Feels like it will take forever to take over this area.

And man...those last couple of chapters before the finale were a real kick in the teeth.

i guess my breaks inbetween chapters in Y5 will increase. one of the upsides of switching characters in Y5 is it's usually a fresh start, so safe to take a break. (starting haruka).

Well that sucks, and I don't understand why they would release it right next to GoW. That just seems like such a SEGA bad move.

Yep. While I want Y6 asap they need to get the fuck away from GoW. The new date is Alan Wake releasing on the same day as Red Dead Redemption levels of stupid.
agreed. we've been waiting...technically over a year since the game has existed to be able to play it, and it's my #1 most anticipated game of the year, call it "niche" all you want however I know the game has potential to push sales, but Kiryu cannot take on Kratos

I find GoW the most bizarrely unappealing big release this year so it'd piss me off quite a bit if Y6 got delayed again because of it, even if it'd be understandable.

I don't think the God of War release is that huge of deal for 6--0 released the same day as Resident Evil VII after all. Word of mouth was always going to carry the game

Godammit, first Ni No Kuni 2 and now this.

I fear for Kiwami 2 :(
I think K2 is safe. They're probably deep into production on it already as 6 is already done at this point minus whatever caused the delay here.

Hokuto though? I'm just going to go ahead and import it. 6 is going to be mauled here, and Sega is going to go back into clamshell mode for a while on the series is my guess. I think we'll get 7 too eventually, but maybe digital only and very late. After that, who knows.

I think we'll get Kiwami 2, but I am starting to doubt that it'll be released this year now.

Fist of the North Star, I've always been skeptical over it getting localized, as it's probably a safer bet to toss it into the same pile as Ishin.

Happy about the demo announcement (sounds like we're getting the same trial edition Japan got, because we can take the save into the main game?), but I'm sad about the delay of course. I wonder what happened. Maybe they found some nasty bugs or something. From a business perspective I can see how tough that decision must've been (they pretty much had the March for themselves), after all God of War, which I personally don't care about, is one of the most anticipated games of the year. Now I don't think that every God of War fan would automatically be interested in Yakuza. But stilI I sure hope that it won't hurt Yakuza 6's sales too much. It worked out fine releasing on the same day as Resident Evil 7, so hopefully it will here too.

That's what I'm assuming as well. Not much to do in the demo in terms of story content, but you can explore the city with the new engine which is really awesome so I can see people enjoying that aspect of it. Plus you can make tons of money via Mahjong. I'll pass on the demo though, no need to play it again until I get the full game. I'll probably be playing the FOTNS demo by that point anyway!

Nooo :( That delay hurts. I'm gonna have to replay one of them to get my fix before then I think. Been a fair few years since I played 3...

Delay is great for me, I'm still playing Kiwami and want to play 3-5 before 6, but releasing that close to God of War is a head scratcher.

I am fairly optimistic we'll get Kiwami 2, and I'd put Fist of the North Star at more than 50% unless the effort to translate it is huge, that's a popular cult hit over here. From Y0 onwards, I'm in day one for any Yakuza related titles from here out.

I would have put the Fist game at that before they moved 6 into h2h competition with God of fucking War.

Remember this is the same Sega that was comfortable killing the series over here because Dead Souls of all things bombed. If a mainline Y game gets mauled....yeah who knows what happens.

Really is such a weird date to voluntarily move to. I know where my priorities lay, but most PlayStation fans are gonna go the other way.

Yeah, I agree that they should really get away from GoW. It doesn't matter much to me when 6 releases honestly because I'm not playing it until after I play Kiwami 2, but I want to it do well at retail. And I feel for the rest of you.

You don't need Dragon of Dojima style to finish the game, and you really don't need to be grinding real estate before you finish either. You can do all that in the Premium Adventure mode that opens up after you finish the story.

I used money from Mr. Shakedown for real estate. If you got the CP skill for Kiryu that gives you more money for beating him then you lose intentionally to raise how much he is carrying and then beat him for profit.

Yep =\

I really just don't have a lot of interest in the big budget AAA scene at all so I'm definitely they got Yakuza, but most won't be. Really just have no idea wtf Sega is thinking here. Just delay it to may! I know people are harkening back to the re7 thing with 0, but this is a lot worse as re7 interest was displaced across three platforms. Gow is a top class sony first party ip, and one that's reinventing the wheel on the series so it's going to be bringing in not only the gow faithful but also new people. I don't see this as ending any way but terribly for the series, maybe even an unrecoverable disaster. 6 already had a bigger mountain to climb vs 0 anyway with 5 games Worth of baggage (not to mention starting from a cliffhanger from 5), but also the already mixed reception from Japan...

I hate to be a cynical bastard here, but man... Just can't see this ending well at all :(

In other news, started Ishin! The gameplay is awesome, but man I feel like I'm missing a ton playing it like i am...I mostly love these games because of the characters and how they play off each other, less so the plot itself. The guide, while I am in awe of them even being able to do what they did, is mostly just a rundown of the bare plotting. Seeing Kiryu and Nishikiyama have a 5 min intro followed by a fight and more dialog and getting "mc says if anyone has problems come fight me" is just a kick to the gut =\

Again not at ALL slamming the dude's effort in the guide because it's mind-blowing he did what he did. Truely in awe of the effort he did for fans for free. It's just man...I really hate that Sega never brought this over. I love history and I love Yakuza, and missing all of the intricacies and historical minutiae is just killing me every single scene ;.;

The translation guide for Ishin was fine for my tastes. And if there's one thing I learned from the series is that, for as good as the dialogue can be at times its far too drawn out for its own good - where a single sentence could really be used to some up some of the long winded monologues the characters get! A certain big bad in Yakuza 1 was awful for doing this toward the end of the game.

Oh yeah like I said the guide is awesome for what it is! Absolutely not shaming it in any way at all. The post is more me expressing how frustrating it is that the didn't bother localizing it at all. I mean come on man, when the game came out the PS4 was a wasteland software wise. If they marketed it right it could have done well I think, especially in light of games like Dynasty Warriors and Nioh pulling solid numbers. I really think the game would have been Zero before Zero due to it's great gameplay and no series baggage holding it back, but alas =\

As much as I've always wanted to play the stuff that didn't come out over here I just can't bring myself to play a game with a guide like that. Feel like I'd be missing too much.

Maybe one day I'll try, might be worth it for the gameplay.
