Thanks! Will grab!

Any chance of windjammers coming out as part of The ACA line on switch?

Neogeo rights seem to be always up for grabs, even when superior versions exist.

For Garou, Windjammers and Metalslug3 for example it would be better to port the more robust versions available on other platforms that even support online multiplayer.

Never really played any AoF bar the first.

I've got KoF '98 on everything else I own, same with Garou and Fatal Fury (though I would bite for some portable Real Bout), recently got Waku Waku 7, just need something to scratch that itch.

Only reason I even suggested 2 was because of it's hidden boss.....

AOF 2 and 3 are cool fighting games once you realize that it plays differently from most fighters. And the single player is very fun, though AOF 2 has an incredible cheap AI?

I have heard this, should I take a gamble on 3 then?

Familiar with the characters due to KoF but never actually played any other than AoF 1 when I had the anthology on the PS2.

Art of Fighting 2 is the Neo game that I've got the most nostalgia for due to it being in the arcade at a holiday park that I used to go to as a kid. I'd spend whole summers playing that... So happy that it's finally launched on Switch. I can't stop buying these ACA games!

I have mixed feelings with 3. In one hand, the game is gorgeous, and I "Kinda" like the virtua fighter like combo system, but AOF 3 must be the most soulless game that SNK has ever released. Bland character designs, bland music, bland stages, bland UI, the game lacks this AOF charm that makes you smile for how ridiculous the series is. I personally would pick 2, or now that you mention it, why no go for the AOF Anthology on PS4? I bought it on this sale way cheaper than a single ACA game and I feel like the game runs better then.

Unless you only have a switch, then, pick AOF 2

I've got both I just had left over credit I wanted to spend, plus Switch is my main console, if I got it on Ps4 it'd be sat behind SFV, Guilty Gear, Blazblue and KoF.

Kinda temped by 2 then, I'm a sucker for SNK vibe and if AoF 3 is lacking it then I see little point in dealing with it.

Didn't know AoF Anthology was on Ps4 though, I'll end up double dipping on that anyways when there is a sale, I still need to get Battle Archive vol 2 too!, Have you tried that one yet? just wondering if it ran well

I feel that there is something off with battle archive volumen 2, but I need to do some more testing

Just checked, it's on sale £4.99.

How off are we talking here?

I don't know if I'm talking shit, but I feel that the game looks a Little blurry, and kinda slow, but I have never played those games on original hardware, also I feel like there is a Little input lag.

I'm going to play it at night an upload a video so you could see yourself.

AOF runs great though

Strange how that has issues where as AoF doesn't, still very tempted with it only being £4.99. Might be some filter options to tinker with maybe?

Do you have The Last Blade 2? Prob the best Neo fighter aside from Garou and KOF '98.

So... if I was to purchase one shmup from this series, which would you recommend? I'd like i) something that has serviceable-to-great graphics, ii) something that is fun in 2P and iii) something that isn't too ''busy'' because I want to try the 2P with my wife who isn't very good at this sort of games.

I was thinking Aero Fighters 2 for a 2P ''no too busy'' game but some of these horizontal shooters look great! (some are 1P though)

I have all NeoGeo/PS2 games on PS4.

Fatal Fury Battle Archives 2 is great. All games on there are arcade perfect. It has the NeoGeo CD music remixes as an option, which the Hamster versions don't have.
Beware that in AoF Anthology, they removed the Japanese language option from the PS2 original, for some reason. So if you want AoF with all the languages get the Hamster versions. Anthology also has the CD music.

About the AoF games themselves: the best one is 3. My personal favorite is 2, but only play it if you have a friend. The AI is ridiculous in that game. AoF 1's difficulty is fair.

I'm gonna take a dive on Battle Archives 2, as a huge Fatal Fury fan I should have already had it to be fair, just been waiting till the need to play arises.

I'll hold off on AoF Anthology until it drops to around the £4.99 mark, not like I won't have anything to play when this downloads!.

Thanks for the advice.

Finally, Shock Troopers, should I just stick to 1 or is 2 better than I am hearing?

It talk a lot about the AI of AOF 2 that is the only game in the anthology that don't ask you to 1cc the game to get a trophy

Yeah, AoF 2's is one of the most difficult FG's I've ever seen. I love the graphics and atmosphere, though.

Be sure to also check out ADK Damashii, a compilation with 5 Neo Geo games. Very good.

Can't help you with Shock Troopers. I only played a little back in the day.

Shock Troopers 1 is way better than 2.
2 has some prerendered graphics which don't hold up well (looks very grainish) plus a SHITTON of slowdown (almost unplayable in 2 player mode sometimes).
That said, it is still a great run' gunner but ST1 is just the better overall package (WAY better artstyle etc).
If you are a fan of that genre you can't go wrong with ST2; just play and finish ST1 first.

Get Zed blade, it's a lot more fair, has a reasonable length and is a lot of fun. Aero Fighters is a bit boring and it takes two playthroughs to get the true ending

So I went with Shock Troopers, Art of Fighting 2 and then 3.

Shock Troopers is amazing, heard so many positive things and was still amazed by it's quality.
Art of Fighting 2 oozes SNK Charm, music, giant sprites, the marmite graphics zoom. Looks fantastic, plays like the devil though. I would be fine with the jank controls if the A.I wasn't so brutal. I was warned but I didn't think it'd take nearly 30 min just to be the first character, think I can forget seeing Geese!.
Art of Fighting 3 Beautifully animated sprites, seems to control well. Didn't play much of it as I was heading off to the gym and still sore from the beating AoF 2 gave me.

Also picked up Fatal Fury: Battle Archives Vol 2. Fantastic selection of games and even the "Duffer" being Real Bout 1 shows the quality, bar the Ring Out element the game is still quality and holds up well. Did have an issue with P-Moves with Terry though.

Great you enjoyed them!

Don't forget to listen to the alternative remixed soundtrack in Battle Archives. You can toggle it in the options menu.

Wondering if there will ever be a SNK sale on Xbox. I want many games but they are too expensive for what they are (just a rom packaged with an emulator).

I know these are *Arcade* Archives, but not having console options in some of the SNK fighters really hurts. You need a practice mode for some of these games.

Were there ever any Neo-Geo/SNK street brawlers a la Streets of Rage/AvP that I need to wish for?

Also, fucking need Neo Drift Out. Over Top is okay, but it doesn't feel like Gaelco's World Rally (which NDO kinda does).

Having lots of fun with Karnov's Revenge on PS4.

I may get a Switch this Christmas, but the lack of an Arcade Stick may hold me off of the Arcade Archives there.
Too bad because Waku Waku 7 and World Heroes Perfect are exclusive for now.
You know, I didn't think about using sticks for these neo geo games, but this just made me seriously think of investing in one(for the switch)

Crossing my fingers the next batch (to be confirmed after Super Baseball 2020) will include good games like Sengoku 2/3, Baseball Stars 2, Magical Drop III, Real Bout 2 or SNK VS Capcom. This batch was pretty terrible since most of them were the early era Street Fighter Knockoffs, which is a shame as I thought the last batches of games like Top Hunter and Robo Army meant we were done with those games...

Sengoku 3 is really good, but a bit run of the mill compared to the original games. Though it has great animations and an expansive moveset. I have both 1 and 2 on AES and while I like them, they're stiff. Like lots of early NG games.

Burning Fight is a decent Final Fight rip off. Robo Army I used to like as well. I think Mutation Nation is another one but I somehow never played it.

ACA Neo Geo series has topped 1 million downloads worldwide across PS4, XBO and NSW.

Also Switch got Super Baseball 2020, PS4/XBO got Blazing Star this week.

Yeah, but Samurai Shodown II is regarded as one of the best games in the series. So it wasn't all bad.
