Octoballoons are secretly the best tool the game gives you.

Would you happen to know good spots to get a bunch? I'm playing Master Mode and realized I didn't collect as many as I'd hoped. I'm pretty much fresh out and can't think of anywhere I can build a stash from. I remember one store sells a number of them but that won't be enough, and I don't even remember which store it is.

But yes, those seem pretty great. Combine them with stasis and you can float really high up. I have a video of doing just that in a shrine that I wanna share.

Need some advice. For some reason my Hylian Shield has vanished from my inventory and it didn't break before hand. I was just using another shield at the time, but today I went to equip it and it's gone!

I found the shield at
Hyrule Castle and never bought it

Is this a glitch?

Switch version 1.4.0.

You definitely didn't leave it hanging up on display at the house you can get in Hateno? Or did you get hit with electricity whilst equipped with it? Unlike the Master Sword it can be knocked off you.

I haven't bought that house yet. :/
Have you completed Tarrey Town yet?

Edit: Sorry, of course you couldn't have. Regardless, I have to imagine that either it was knocked off from an electric attack, or perhaps this could be a pretty damning glitch if you're certain it wasn't.

Nope,

I don't recall dropping it or breaking it. I chose another shield to use so that I won't damage it.

From the above, yeah that may have happened, but there's no chance of finding it then.

Nothing coming up on Google that is anywhere near today's date, ergo nothing for 1.4.0, shit dude if you're certain you never had the thing equipped to break or lose I dunno. Checking mine now it's still there, have you tried loading in a previous auto-save or save? And do you recall the last time you did see it in the inventory compared to right now?

Yeah I checked google too, so thanks. I'm playing now and have all my saved files of today's date so I can't load any older ones.

I can't remember the last time I used it, unfortunately.

Yeah, mine is still there and I play with a similar mentality as you - go through other shields so as to not break it.

Not even so much as used it, but just saw it was there, simply for the sake of perhaps finding a bit more evidence of what might have happened if it is a glitch - though if it's an item you were preserving, I can get why you'd never really keep track of it mentally. By the same token, knowing what you'd done in recent play sessions prior to noticing it had vanished might help in looking for an answer. Though yeah if it was knocked off, it's gone by now sorry dude.

All that aside, the fact you brought up finding it over buying it, there is still that. Tedious though.

I was just thinking I may have accidentally dropped it when I went to pick up another shield and had no space....

Found some images and video of it from my captures, so I definitely had it at one stage ;),

Maybe it's a super-rare glitch and it might appear in my inventory in the next patch.

Do you hate me Shugga ?
Continuing on...

These show the location of the DLC WW shirt (though not on the map). Nothing too special here. Just continuing that play session I've referenced about 1000 times already. It's just crazy how much variety there was in about 2 hours of play.

Hey, the 2nd DLC is pretty good guys! Do they have any plans for releasing more DLC in the future or is this it?
They should totally release a "Zelda Shrine Maker" for the Switch btw!

So instead of playing the new DLC on my main file (~70 shrines), I decided to start a new game on Master Mode. About 60 shrines in and 3/4 beasts down now and so glad I did. I am about to enter Naboris and then I'll start the DLC 2 stuff.

I forgot how good this game was.

Master Mode seems fairly similar for the most part. The main difference for me was that I sunk all of my orbs into hearts until I could get the Master Sword, rather than going all stamina at first, just to have a consistent source of high damage for the tougher enemies. Also, since I have a better grasp of the layout of the world, my efficiency going from place to place has gone up considerably. (It helped that I did Medoh first instead of last this time).

Will we ever get a patch to improve performance at Korok Forest? It's the only location where it goes literally to a crawl.

Sure looks nice though. Wonderful artistic and dreamy, and dat music!.

I've always gone back and forth with my opinion on BOTW. I've spent so much time playing around in this incredible world because just turning the game on to explore is like slipping into a warm bath. It's just so incredibly easy to get into and enjoy when you need even the quickest of gaming fixes. However, I kept wrestling with the notion of it being a "masterpiece" in my eyes and I haven't been able to arrive at that point. Something keeps holding me back from declaring this one of the greatest games I've ever played, even though it probably is? It's so weird.

Then it hits me. 200+ hours in and I begin to see something in the game I didn't see before. Something truly special emerges every time I put something specific into it. Figure out what it is I want to do, even 200 hours into the game, and just do it. Hunt for some Swift Violet or explore that patch of terrain that isn't colored in with green on the Hero's Path map...stumble on a crazy number of Korok seeds when I least expect to...and it just keeps giving.

I dunno guys. The game just doesn't want to let me go, even though I've wrestled with my opinion on it for a long time. I can find fault with it...but I'm so past those now and so immersed in whatever I happen to be doing at the time I turn it on that it just doesn't even matter what I think the game doesn't do as well as some others.

It's certainly a work of art, to be sure.

At this point I'm doubtful we'll see much or any more improvement when it comes to the framerate. Not sure what it is about this specific area that causes issues. A difference I've noticed, though, is that I no longer get the one second frame hitch after attacking a Moblin with a two handed weapon.

It's okay if you don't think it's a masterpiece, honestly. That's incredibly subjective, so you don't have to agree. I was trying to assess my own views about the game after completing it, too. I do think a game can be a masterpiece despite its flaws. For me it depends on whether or not the game was truly able to achieve what it strove to do, even if it stumbles in some other aspects. With BotW, that would be the open-air formula and the sense of freedom and exploration, which it absolutely knocks out of the park imo. It's also the type of game where I can completely understand if it doesn't click with someone. It depends on how much the things it does well matter to you, or if you prefer an entirely different approach when it comes to those things. I agree so much about it being like a warm bath, and easy to dive into. It can be almost therapeutic in a way.

I am slowly crawling towards 100% (Not counting seeds. Those I'll have to decide on later) including both DLC packs.

I've beaten three of the four Ballad Ganon fights. The last one I have is of course Thunderblight. Not looking forward to it. But I had a lot of trouble with Waterblight until I read IGN's description of how to beat him and discovered two things. First that you can take an elixir or eat food with effects before entering the illusory realm and they'll carry over, and that I could freeze the ice blocks in place and knock them back at Ganon to knock him down. I always forget this. I don't know why. Either way I just eat the 5x banana fruit bowl that gives you triple strength boost and utilize Urbosa's Fury and killed him really fast. Though I still had trouble with the ice because you literally get stuck in a stun lock when he starts throwing those at you and you miss one.

The whole Champion's Ballad was really fun from the start. And really forgiving. From the start you have that one-hit obliterator and it's awesome. Thankfully you're allowed to save during this and shrines remained unlocked. Then once you finish those four shrines, you set out on a hunt for four locations that reveal three more shrines each. Then after you do those you then fight the Ganons again. I guess that's it? I don't even know but I can't imagine anything else happening once you've powered up all your special powers.

Also, I did Eventide Island today. It was really fun. And I didn't even cheese it to make myself have less problems* so I did it all legit. The Hinox ended up being super easy with how powered up I was. Especially once I cleared out that mountain top camp to cook my bananas again. That was fun. I also got a Blood Moon the night I arrived. Thankfully it was AFTER I put the ball on the podium. But I still ended up having to kill them all again as I mentioned. The best part though was the first time I killed them all I got an assist from the lightning that killed the Moblin for me. Thank goodness he sleeps with his METAL SWORD close by. The second time I just flew down and stole it while he slept.

*Anyway, apparently you can drop any supplies you need onto the island before you touch the ground as you're floating down. I totally wish I'd thought of that. I'd have dropped a whole bunch of powerful weapons and food. In the end I didn't need to but goddamn that would have been fine. I wish I could replay Eventide (Can you?) just to try it out. Actually the first time I flew in I was going to eat the banana bowl for the attack boost from the start but realized it would be useless since the only part I'd need the strength is the Hinox and that's the last thing I'd be doing anyway. By then the power would have run out. So I started over.

I have about 8 shrines left. 3 of them I've discovered but haven't beaten, one is the tri-Hinox one I just haven't been bothered to try again and the other four I need to find. Gonna have to consult a map for them.

I really really hope whatever Zelda game comes after this has as much content. I mean my god. This and Mario with so much content. It's ridiculous how much they give you. And Mario hasn't even gotten any DLC yet. (I hope it does. The current update doesn't count. I mean paid DLC.)

I was thinking about this the other day. Will the next Zelda game topple BOTW in terms of content available and the amount of little details found in BOTW's world? I'm considering it the benchmark in open world games. They have a huge task ahead.

Seriously. It's going to be hard to top the amount of content. I mean the 900 Korok seeds alone. The number of shrines. The vast world. I don't know who designed the world but it is brilliant and realistic. So much detail. I can't imagine the next game being anything but a step down. So here's hoping they surprise us again.

I feel the same with Odyssey.

Had a weird thing happen to me tonight -- the game hung up on me twice in a row, real bad like.

So, I'm nearing the end of the Champions' Ballad and made a pit stop in Kakariko. I've been doing the Champions' Ballad with no fast travel just to take in Hyrule one last time, so I was gliding into the Great Fairy Fountain above Kakariko and the game just straight froze for about five seconds before resuming. Did my business at the fountain, glided into the village below, and the exact same thing happened before I landed.

I've been playing for over 200 hours and nothing like this has ever happened before. For context, I hadn't even been playing for an hour, so I'm certain my Switch wasn't overheating or anything. Playing the digital version.

Anyone ever had this sort of thing happen before?

Last night I learned that fire resistance & heat resistance are two different things -- it only took 20/30 minutes!

Is there an "easy" way for me to get rupees? I'm roughly 3000 shy of what I need for the fire resistant set & I'd like to get it so I can explore the area. Should I come back to this area later, or is there a workaround/solution? I already have the 3 elixirs you can get from the nearby stable, but haven't found any lizards so I could make my own.

Do you leave the game running and just put the console to sleep, or do you occasionally shut it off or quit the app from time to time?

I've had a couple shorter freezes. And I've found that when I leave the game running for a long time even with sleep, my saved videos get corrupted and unusable. So I quit it from time to time and I haven't had problems since.

Not that that's definitely the solution but worth a shot unless you already do that.

I only had the game open at all (freshly booting the app, not from sleep mode) for about an hour at most -- hadn't played it in quite a while. I haven't rebooted my Switch in a while, so I gave that a shot. Gonna try to wrap up the Champions' Ballad today, so fingers crossed it was just an isolated thing.

Holy crap those Lynels are tough as hell

You sure? I hate selling thing never know when I am going to need them.

You do have other uses for them, I wouldn't sell them all. I always try to maintain around 20ish of each on me, just in case.

They can be used to color clothing or for one other shop IIRC. If you got all the items in the shop you wouldn't have to worry about it any more, unless you're desperate and wanna use it for coloring. Not a good idea though cuz obviously that's throwing money away. As far as I know those are the only two uses in the game.

-----
Okay the videos probably get a little more interesting after these two :p

I was just trying to show all this stuff that happened in one play session, just go give an idea of the variety on hand. I really wish Nintendo allowed more than 30 seconds so it wouldn't take weeks just to show some videos of a few hours of play.

If you want, keep the diamonds, rubies and sapphires for now. Sell the other ones as they spawn very frequently, and although they don't sell for as much as the ones I mentioned earlier, it adds up quickly. There are also NPCs that will buy certain precious stones for more than your average shop owner/vendor. But in general, as you get in deeper in the game, you'll find sites that are rich in mining ores, so there's no problem with selling your precious stones if you need the money.

After you complete the Zora beast there will be a guy in the city that will trade 10 Luminous Stones for a diamond. A good way to get diamonds if you need them. (But don't bother if you are in it for money as you lose $200 extra you'd get from a shop keeper.)

Also, at the level I'm at now (Full 28 hearts, highly upgraded armor, bananas for strength, super heavy weapons, every single special power) Lynels are pretty much no match for me. Neither are Hinoxes, Taluses or Muldugas.

I just found the Ancient Horse Armor. So awesome teleporting my horse (Zelda's white horse descendant) whenever I need it. Will probably make me use horses more often...

Though I am at the final part of the Champion's Ballad in the fifth Divine Beast which when I beat it will give me the Master Cycle Zero so who knows how long I'll bother with the horse.

I did attempt the Trial of the Sword and got killed by a cheap shot on level 9 or so where you start on a wooden bridge with some Lizalfos. I'm so pissed at that. Didn't even make it through the first section.

Also at this point I pretty much only have a handful of things left to do. Oh and beat Ganon I guess. Let's see, aside from the Trial of the Sword I guess all I have is the final beast, about 200 more Korok seeds to fill my slots, some random armor for both me and my horse, upgrade all the rest of my stuff and defeat Ganon. I think that's about it. And I'm not even 150 hours in yet.

Man...theter are so many koroks

Not using a guide is really making this a never ending ordeal.

The korok hat has become a staple of my Zelda playthroughs.

I'm like halfway completed. 450 found.
