I need to clear a few games from my backlog, but I intend to go back to it soon to finish getting the furniture and gestures from the treasure hunts. Ironically, the server getting some extra life seems to have killed the thread.

The Palico. I named it Seong Mi-na because she's never coming back to Soul Calibur and it will forever hurt me. Maybe there's a pet crow I can name in MH.

I platted the game last week without too much extra effort. Been meaning to play the DLC for a week or two too but stuff keeps getting in the way. Like Monster Hunter existing.

I've just defeated (final boss spoilers)
and to be honest while I love the controls for Kat, the flight and just messing around the city and exploring there's so much about this game I've found disappointing and outright frustrating. That boss was a fucking joke (and some
which I really didn't enjoy at all (not to mention the sharp change in tone), but I was surprised to see more content afterwards. How much more is there to go, because I'm honestly not sure I'm interested to play more?

There's still a few hours to go, but it's definitely worth it if you care at all about Kat and her story. It's more "focused" than the previous parts of the story imho.
The final part is really good. It does have a bit of a pacing slump and is a couple of hours long but it was worth it for me. So much so that I wrote about it in the Best Video Game Endings thread.
Guys what's the deal with going back to the mining sites, am I just here to collect gems and talismans or should there be a boss here somewhere?

It think it's mainly for talismans. You'll eventually get the ability to merge talismans so collecting effects you like would be worth it if you want to do that. Though I never really engaged with that at all, and just used the premium ones.
There's some boss Nevi (rather- the same boss once per site) you can fight for premium talismans/a trophy but it's actually pretty annoying/hard to fight in certain areas where there's less to throw, to the point that it was one of the last things I did in the game and even then I died a decent amount in one or two of the sites.
Similarly there's randomized increasingly hard levels with challenges you can access via a gravity storm; I only did the 3 levels required for the trophy, but it seemed like you could get a ton of talismans that way (since you can get them from "ghosts" of people who failed- it reminds me of getting tons of chips from bodies in Automata).
You'll hear about both of these via the announcements in your pause menu, along with some other event which IIRC is just increased gems/talismans but harder enemies.
Yeah, it's just for gems and talismans, you'll want to visit when it says "rich ore deposits" for the best loot. When it says "Strange Gravitational Phenomena", there'll be a boss and no other enemies. The fewer the stars, the fewer or less difficult the enemies will be.

Nevi boss only shows up on the phenomena thing.
Other than that, you can find rare nevis. They're green and pack quite a punch, but I don't know if there's some specific criteria for them to show up.
There is a boss that you can fight in each site if it is marked with "strange gravitational phenomena".
I think the best thing about the mining sites is the challenges (including a boss rush or two) you unlock by going to the sites with "gravity storm in progress".
There's no point in ever going to the "safe" mining sites. Getting gems is easier if you grind them by redoing part of one of the story chapters over and over, so mining isn't really worth it for that alone. Talismans though will help a lot if you plan on doing the challenges and the boss rush, but those are difficult and entirely optional (there is no trophy for them or anything) and you'll get enough talismans just trying to go through those chalenges anyway.
I know it unrelated to anything in the last few pages but I just wanted to say that the boxart for the game is simply gorgeous - I had friends who are not gamers in any way at my house today and the case was on the table and they just stopped for a sec and said "wow that looks really,really nice the colors and everything" and

Tried the Grav Pheno site but I couldn't find a boss, beat a couple of big armoured guys but I was getting a bit bored of kiting everything 'cause I'm so weak. Will come back to it.

If the boss is there, it should be set as your destination and you'll be shown the direction to it.
But like I said, I fought them pretty late because they can be hard. You can try if you want to but I feel like you're not very equipped to deal with them currently.
The treasure hunts are so good, it's a shame that such a great aspect of the game will eventually be lost. Photo reviews can be pretty fun too but you've got to be careful about what you share, I got reported by another user once and warned by Sony for it. Gutted.
