So, I've been worrying less about combos and focusing on fundamentals. Lots of blocking, and it's helping a ton.

Every game feels awful online right now. Outside of a few lagfests yesterday, everything was relatively fine. Now I can't find a match that doesn't have anything below 8 fr of delay. And on top of that, I'm still stuck in the lobby. This sucks.

Yep, this is the right way to go about it right now, learn to block, to attack, when to press buttons and more. You can't land combos if you don't know to open people up and you can't win battles if you're blocking all the time or don't know how to defend, fundamentals alone can win you a lot of matches.

How do you even make money in this game? After beating story mode, and doing all the tutorials and challenges, I'm broke. Arcade doesn't give much either. I wish I could just buy color packs like in Guilty Gear. I keep getting unlucky with the capsules.
playing online and i could be mistaken but even training mode gives money i backed out after awhile and i believe i earned 1000.. the daily quests too.

Usually anchors are heavy meter dependant, and work well without assists. Point characters the opposite, build meter and rely more heavily on assists.

But on that subject, who really are the anchor characters in the game?

I would imagine the likes of Tien, Ultimate Gohan, and maybe 16 would be very good examples (hell, U.Gohan's entire gameplan is setting him up with full meter and watch him go to town).

Anyone still need a code for the early access stuff? Amazon finally sent me mine but I already have the characters/avatars from someone else's code. First quote gets it. PS4.

Man I really hope they do something about these servers. I've done fourteen arena matches now and the trophy for doing ten it still hasn't popped yet. Hoping I didn't miss out on it because of server issues.

Anchors are generally the good assist characters like Kid Buu and Vegeta but Frieza is also a good anchor with his gold form.

I don't know enough about the game or characters to make that call yet. I have Tien on my team, why would he make a good anchor char? I don't really burn meter more with him than any other. Only reason I'd have him anchor at this point is he's my only assist with a beam.

Hmm, can't pick a good 3rd character for my Piccolo and Beerus team. I guess I need someone on the team with a good assist since both are kinda lacking in that area, Piccolo more so than Beerus.

His lvl3 can burn extra meter to do more damage up to 7 bars. He can nuke a character with high meter.

So uh, kind of a basic question but how much damage should we be aiming for with 1-bar BnBs? The stuff I'm coming up with usually comes to about 5K, without any assists.
Anyone else getting a lot of disconnects at the moment, i'm playing on xbox and i'vd been kicked out of the lobby in my last 4 fights.
A bunch of people are, it's a huge problem that we have to wait on to be fixed.

Any good beginner guides that y'all can recommend? I'm familiar with fighters in general, but have little experience with Arc Systems games and 3v3s

Anchors don't seem too defined yet but I'd say Frieza, Vegeta, Goku Black all seem like good anchor characters to me. Even then, I think Frieza could be a point character with proper assists, but it's nice to have Frieza with a ton of meter and sparking lol.

I think Adult Gohan is better suited as a point character with a good assist to back him up. He's a lot like Raven in Guilty Gear in that you can largely ignored his main gimmick. I feel like one level is enough to get him going since his moveset is so strong already.

Was getting a lot of disconnects yesterday but it's actually been smooth sailing today, weird.

I'm stuck in Saiyen rank. I need to lab more but I don't really know where to start.

I didn't really plan on using Vegeta, I'm still toying around with 18 on point, trying to decide on Cell, Hit, or Goku Black on 2nd, and still trying to decide if I'm going to keep U.Gohan as 3rd or get something else.

But that Ammy Cold Shot assist he has, boy...

Dahbomb beat me to it, but Neo Tri-Beam can demolish a character under some circumstances, and Tien is still all around solid on his own with or without resources.

I need to experiment more with his unlock levels, too many times I'll just cash it all in.

Vegeta Blue is awesome. My two locked down main characters are Tien and him right now. They work pretty well together because of Vegeta's dunks, just like you mentioned.

Struggling on my third character though. I reallllllly like 16 but I don't know how well he's working alongside the other two. I'm playing him a lot more individually.

Having Hit up front has been great. His fighting style is useful for setting the pace of a match and he has a lot of useful tech that doesn't require bar. So I've used him as a bar builder.

I personally don't see Tien as a good anchor character off his kit alone. He burns alot of meter but doing so comes at the cost of his HP. Alot of fights come down to Sparking lv3, where blue health is regenerated extremely fast.

Lv3 supers are terrible at actually finishing someone off with max Sparking because 1) they heal through the cinematics, and 2) they do 100% recoverable damage.

Tien's weakness in this regard is that his absolute best super (Chaotsu kamikazi) literally does zero damage to a Sparking opponent if it does not kill them. They will heal 100% of the damage back by the time the cinematic is finished. Meanwhile, Neo-Tribeam does a ridiculous amount of (100% recoverable) damage to the enemy...but an equal amount of unrecoverable damage to Tien himself. Again meaning that if you use that technique and don't finish off your opponent with the attack, you're kinda pixel-health fucked.

I feel like Tien's great, but kind of a gambit character...if I played him i'd think of maybe putting him in the middle, where I can force the opponent to tag/burn resources early, and nuke an opponent or two during the fight before leaving the cleanup to the anchor.

That, and Tien's actual kit is pretty excellent, he's pretty well rounded I think. But I think one of the main strongpoints of Sparking (the healing factor) kind of works against Tien

Gotta stop making combos and work on actually fighting
I am guilty of this.

Also I fought a 16 (with SS Vegeta and someone else, can't remember) and he absolutely mopped the fucking floor with me. Like, it was embarrassing. Doesn't help that his heavy attack(?) has armour too. Was at a complete loss.

In other news, looks like this has trading cards on Steam now. A bunch of them just came through for me.

Played a few rounds with my friend online last night, neither of us know how to do ANYTHING and we had an ABSOLUTE blast. It was basically button mash city with a few landed autocombos (we were nothing trying NOT to abuse them, didn't last long lol)

Feel like I wanna get off this XB1 controller, is there a specific fight pad I should be looking at? On PC btw

Supers only deal 100% recoverable damage if it's done raw.

5k damage for a 1 bar bnb with no assist is good, if you manage to extend combos you should aim for 6.5k with one assist and one bar.

Also, holy shit I haven't been able to complete 1 match, and I think I have some kind of indicator that I'm rage quitting or something because people with amaizing connections are refusing to play me.

I take it this is the point where mechanics that were put in for new players make the skill ceiling unintentionally higher for everyone else. I find it funny this seems to happen almost everytime too

I mean the damage that the actual attack does will be 100% recoverable. The attacks in the combo before it will apply the regular 50%.

I think that it might have been a sort of balancing decision, likely to add more value to having more than one character alive for Lv1 DHCs since those are better at whittling Sparking characters down because they deal more effective damage.

It's there to add depth to the game. It needs a high skill ceiling to be competitive.

I don't see how anyone could complain about such a thing in a game like this, which is already bending over and touching its damn toes to be as beginner friendly as possible
