Wow, that's terrible. You should at least be able to restore your data from PS+ if you have it auto upload, right?

My game also crashed after I saved and trimmed a video, so I guess suspending it for video editing is a bad idea. Save data was fine though.
After checking the storage, it seems like the old data was completely erased when I chose that option. It sucks ass, but I'm not crying over it. I'll just speed-run the first arc in the story mode and re-do the combo challenges to get most of the Zeni I had earned back the next time I play.

Yeah, the big weakness of Vegeta is how short his range is. It's really hard to punish dragon rushes with him because he's so short that his down+H launcher misses on block a lot. I get counter-smacked out of my own counters a LOT when I'm using him, which is not something that happens nearly as often with Hit or Yamcha.

Someone feel free to correct me on this if I'm wrong, but Dragon dash is safe on block so you can't really punish it, unless the oponent hits buttons after they use it with a move with invinciblility. Try his knee uppercut after you block their dragon dash. It wont land you a combo if it hits like a 2H, but it still hurts.

Okay so I guess my only question so far is: Why is Adult Gohan not in super saiyan form? And I'm assuming there are more characters/costumes that I can unlock. This roster feels kinda small, no?

I was having a hard time doing the double super Dash combo with Krillin that was posted earlier in the thread. The second d+S was too finicky for me. I messed around and settled on a combo that ends with qcf+H , super. It uses three bars, but only needs two, one is gained in the combo.

Notation: 2M, M, jc M (2 hits), M (2 hits), 2S, super dash, M, S, qcf+S, transmission, land, M, jc M (2hits), M (2 hits), S, qcf+H, land, super.

Because Ultimate Gohan is his ultimate form. He basically never used Super Saiyan as an adult because Ultimate is decidedly better.

There are three unlockable characters: Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta, and the final boss. Past that, no, there aren't any secret costumes, just alternate color palettes.

The Mystic/Ultimate form is the most iconic. He turns Super Saiyan during his Lv3 (unless Gotenks is on the team)

It's not small for a traditional fighting game, this isn't Xenoverse where every character is copy-pasted, every character is balanced and has a lot of individual depth.

In all fairness, this is an extremely simple combo.

What makes this kind of take wrong, in my opinion, is that depth doesn't come entirely in the form of combos. Maybe in Marvel 3, where the netcode was such garbage that most people only played training mode, but in games where you're actually fighting an opponent, combos are not the only thing that matters.

It's part of the reason why I disagreed when they upped the damage after complaints. The last thing this game needs is long ass combos everywhere. If they're annoying in a game with combos as varied as Marvel 3, imagine here with all the simple ones. It would be better off without this kind of thing and a much bigger focus on getting a knockdown and going for constant mixups.

Also worth noting that I believe you can cancel block to super dash if you're blocking regular ki blasts. So if you fight someone who ends blockstrings with something like Vegeta's 5SSS, you can just blast through it and start your own combo.

This is one of the reasons I ended up dropping Beerus, trying to come up with any strategy using the purple balls was useless since people just super dash past everything, and even when you have them cornered, it takes too damn long to call them.

I used to like Chris G (pro player) before I found out bout his racist remarks. Be careful giving him money, etc unless you're down with that then it's on you I'm not judging you

I do like how he doesn't curse. So that's something...

Another plus he brings what he finds fun he doesn;t just stick to top tier (at least in mvc:i)

Fucking annoying getting trapped in a corner like that. What's the best way out when the enemy is chipping and attacking low? Just jump? Keep blocking?

I really need to get the Slayer muscle memory out of my brain when playing Hit. I keep getting tripped up by the fact that his teleport punches are QCFs and his back-dodge is QCB+S. QCB+punches just leaves you super open. Stupid brain.

lol, so he's a shitlord too? All I know is his name's familiar as a competitive/tourney player. Sure would be cool if there weren't so many dumpster fires in gaming.

Final Showdown from SRK posted them in his video just before official release:

After a j.S in the corner, you can link a flip into j.L, plus a lot of other stuff. His channel has some good combo videos showing routes and options for some characters (like Ginyu, Goku Black, etc.). Entirely solo too!

Does anyone now know what all the Gohan colors are? Is there a saiyaman scheme? Training/Broly 2 color scheme?

I too learned this the hard way. Had a way easier time in ranked (even though it still matched me up with people a few levels higher D: )

Yeah Ranked is where you wanna go. I don't actually care much about what my rank says but I just want close matches and if I end up ranking up that means that I'm ready for more or need to learn to be on par with whoever I match with. But casual you can end up with someone who just started or someone who's Divine Ki Omni Lord of GoDs or whatever the hell the last rank is.

Don't play casual if you're a beginner and wanna fight others your level...

That's what I have been doing in the past 3 days,
I'm having a rough time, 0 wins so far, so what would you suggest other than casual for a uber beginner?

edit: ok got the answer above, but it seems like bad to have on my record the losses.
When I finally get good I would want to have a decent rank and not like 1 win 300 losses.

Man screw the devs for not putting any consequences for rage quitting. I just want to rank up, have about one more match to go.

But ran into FOUR different rage quitters in a row.

I mean, I got 17 wins and 30 losses. Just play and don't worry about it.

Yamcha's moveset isn't as complicated as it looks, actually. The little |_> icon means "follow-up". So basically, when you're using either of the two wolf fang fist variants (Square or Triangle), you can hit the buttons mentioned there as a follow-up attack. For example, if you do the triangle version of the attack, you'll teleport behind the person and hit them a bunch of times, and then if you hit O, you'll burn a super gauge to do the wolf fang Flash finish.

Basically, he kind of plays like Marth's Dancing Blade moveset from Smash Bros - you can follow up the basic input for Wolf Fang Fist with a number of different attacks to change up your attack style based on the buttons you hit during the animation.

Past that, he just has the Kamehameha and his wolf fang dragon punch. The sheer number of follow-up options he has makes him seem way more complicated than he actually is.

Thank you, this is a really helpful post! Makes a lot of sense when you put it that way.

Some of the tutorials in this game are extremely helpful, other areas are sadly rather lacking.

One thing that surpised me as a noob (but makes a lot of sense) is needing to reverse some of the button sets when you fight on the right. Just have to train myself to get used to some of the genre mindsets others are used to, think it will be a while before I dip my toe in online play.

Is it frowned on to use the stick more than the d-pad? Should I be trying to get used to using the d-pad? The stick feels much more natural

Slowly improving with Hit. Two lessons I'm learning are A) I need to clean the D-Pad on my DS4s because they keep dropping simple QCF/QCB inputs, and B) I need to stop playing him exactly like I played Slayer in GGXX/Xrd. Some of those tricks work, but not all of them, and I am (rightfully) getting smacked every time I try to do the wrong input out of sheer muscle memory and Hit stands there like an idiot.

Anyone have any good solutions re: fiddly D-pads? Is there a (preferably cheap) thing I can buy to de-gum them if they're being difficult?

So what the fuck is up with SSB Goku's autocombo? I am fucking blocking but the second hit of it somehow kept hitting me like what the hell? I know the third hit is an overhead (well it looks like one), but for some reason the second part of it kept hitting me, I'm furious right now because I lost against someone who had no life left while I had 2 full characters and Sparking left. He kept pressing buttons randomly, I wake up level 3, he blocking (of course he doesn't press shit right when I wake up with a level 3), then I keep blocking and this Goku autocombo keeps hitting me and I'm not even chickenblocking, just blocking on the ground, it was always the second part of the autocombo that kept hitting me, not the overhead. Wow I'm really angry right now, I've been blocking shit and trying to deal with legit mixups, then comes this guy with whatever and I keep getting hit but I don't even know why... would be great if at least I could say yeah he was going for the high low mixup, but no, I can't really tell why it hit. I hope I find the guy again so I can kick his ass properly this time.

Edit: Oh and please stop spamming 2H, yeah it punishes jump ins and super dashes, but it doesn't punish me when I'm doing nothing...

So is 2B a universal juggle starter? Seems allow a juggle on every character I've tried.

Okay I know what the fuck is 2B? I know I'm new to this way of writing moves but I swear this is the first time I see 2B! We talking about Nier now?!

Unless you mean 2H since H is right above B. In which case, yes I think it launches the opponent up for everyone.

(I swear can we just write Down Heavy?)

I'm so surprised at how well I'm doing online. I'm facing these kids on casual that are doing 30+ hit combos that I don't even feel I'm physically capable of doing yet I'm still getting Ws and being super competitive just by blocking and countering.

It feels so damn good blocking spammers.

2B is 2M. Some anime games use ABC instead of LMH.

Just lingo to make it easy for sharing info. It's quicker and not something that needs to be translated to other languages.

Maybe B was wrong, but I mean down medium not heavy. I know heavy is a launcher, but I'm talking about the trip. I'm curious if everyone gets a juggle off it, I assume so but wasn't sure.

Yeah it's a universal low with decent range + lets you juggle.

Really? This is what I've been doing and I've been doing ok for myself.

I'm scared of ranked...

Ranked is a crapshoot. I've had equal parts "perfectly matched" and "lol why did you think a Saibamen player should ever fight this person, game?" fights.

Case in point from earlier: someone with 80 wins out of 95 total fights should not be sent up against against someone with 3 total matches. Neither player's gonna benefit from that kind of a matchup!

It's so dispiriting trying to do "proper" combos and you just keep getting beat by people spamming auto combos.
