Do a quick and dirty 15 min sketch. It's not procrastinating. It's like a shot of coffee straight to the brain, which'll help with school work. :D

This thread makes me angry, jealous, impressed, and honestly strives me to work just as hard to keep at it. It's wonderful and agonizing all at once. xD

I'm on Twitter/Tumblr/FB as @DiceSMS if you ever wanted to see more, or rather, if you ever wanted to commission me (I confess, I work 2 jobs so I only had so much time to work on portraits here --- besides an excellent spot to get quick practice in --- otherwise I would have kept working it and working it).
Anyways, I honestly just use Photoshop 95% of the time. You find yourself some fancy set of brushes (if you're using PS as well I can definitely send my "brush set"), practice a lot*, and usually your own personal style starts to evolve. :)
* Probably the best and most concise lesson I've ever been taught on how to practice was in three words: "DRAW DRAW DRAW"

Phenomenal work, Dice. Besides the usual "keep practicing" tip, what other tip would you give to someone aspiring to draw?
You might be drawing in 2D, but you should always be thinking in 3D.

I don't think we give our eyes enough credit: If something looks wrong, you should be able to tell that it doesn't look right or even "resemble life".

Wow! Amazing work, everyone!
I just updated the 3rd post to include a gallery for the first 200 posts. I'll try to keep it updated for every 200 posts. Hopefully the forums won't break anytime soon.

I do not keep copies of the original reference photos and unless artists named their files, they will be whatever gibberish the image hosting service uploaded it as haha.

I agree it's a great thread to get some practice in! I used to be an actual artist (drawing+painting) but I haven't really been 'serious' about art since I was in school, maybe 12 years or so ago? I occasionally do some light sketching here and there, but am never motivated enough to really seriously get back into it for the same reasons (time). I do have and use photoshop (i have the whole Creative Cloud from my job - funny enough, I'm a creative traffic manager, so I work with graphic designers/copywriters all day) I may just commission you for some work and/or guidance/tips!
