Damn, I was connecting then and the host ended the session.

Ha.

EDIT: Or not. Seems this network isn't quite networking correctly.

Keeps loading the room, but just returns me to lobby select. Usually with a "disconnected from network" message.

The game kept me in auto drive when the race started. Eventually it just stopped next to two other cars towards the end of the lap. Couldn't do anything but quit. What a waste of time and effort that was. So disappointed, I was really looking forward to that race.

Such a shame that didn't go to plan because of network issues or the game bugging out.

I can tally up the results or we can try again next week? Up to you guys.

I really struggled to drive the Ferrari and I don't really know why. The thing kept drifting even with little to no throttle. I thought it was the tyre wear but dailies had more before. I need to test it.

I think it's not really fair on Bradley or eyeball if we include it but see what they think - personally I'd rather not race that bloody track again ;-)

Considering we are going to be racing that track plus the green hell in one (and at night!) for the season finale I agree!

We could do Monza next week? Any track to be honest.

Ah, was that you - tofuhero?

Not sure what happened at the start. 'tofuhero' in position 11, the Ferrari, just stopped. In fact the replay shows 12th place overtook him even before the race officially started and the majority of the pack had done one while we were still stuck behind tofuhero. It wasn't his fault, the game just let it happen during auto-drive.

Ah well, team Aston Martin did OK methinks. I climbed from 14th to 10th so I'm happy with that but ruttyboy won! Amazing work fella.

Go Team Aston!

Oh, and I'm totally fine if that was a warm-up, considering the auto-drive issues at the start.

If y'all want to count it, that's fine I guess, though Ferrari and whatever team Bradley is on will be down on points. I hope that auto drive issue is not going to be a problem going forwards with the mixed classes.

The Gr.3 is very squirrelly, especially without CSA. I'm fine with switching cars with you if you want.

Yuppp, that was me. I noticed my car stopped and then a car went by me and I was thinking, "damn this is a long rolling start" and then when I saw cars behind me trying to get around me I realized I was screwed. Never had that happen to me before. I'm wondering if it's the mix of classes in the lineup that confused the game.

Ruttyboy wasn't on my screen at any point.

I didn't realise I had to push any harder than I did, so definitely want a rerun :P

Wait till you see my replay lol

Yeah my Lambo was as twitchy as hell, coupled with hating that track I was horrendous, sorry about that Sejanoz I think you got bored of passing me facing the wrong way.

Not a mixed class issue, I've had it in a Daily Sorry race previously.

I think issues like that may have to be dealt with by awarding the unfortunate driver half the max points or something? Otherwise this championship will never actually work I don't think.

Well, my feeling is, if someone has a problem within the first lap, we do one race restart. Any more than that and we just continue on and they get half the max, or get put in last place. I'm not sure what's fairer to everyone.

Game didn't register my quali time (was in top 3 GR4 for sure) and started dead last, then I was stuck with other guys at start behind bugged car for few seconds. Just great.
But I'm happy for my place, best I could do given this mess of a start.

Great race! Managed to improve my total time by 7 seconds!
I'd be okay with it being a practice run (we should have probably made one anyway)... but these issues may occur again.

P.s. what do you say we open another thread for the championship? So we can have all rules, nicknames, schedule, in the OP.

That would be fair, but I'm not sure if restarting the race will keep the quali time :(

Could you see your quali time on the leaderboard on the left of the screen when you finished that lap?

Only reason I know it may not have registered it is if you were in the pits when the race was about to start. It may take up to 30 seconds after leaving the pits to see your time pop back up in the leaderboard.

Sucks that PSN was having problems before hand, I wonder if that was part of the issues we were having.

What was your quali time? I forgot if exiting after a lap clears the time but I wanted to switch to mediums so I did it anyways. And I started near the middle with a 2.06 time

Same. I was sure I got the top 3 GR4 time as well. As far as I could tell we didn't have a qualifying session. It was Practice > Race. Well, at least it always said 'Practice' on my screen.

Yeah, I just watched a bit of OGG's stream to see what happened to him on the first lap and I was quite surprised to see you on pole and me in third, on my screen OGG was pole and I was second!

I streamed the race for my friend so you can see it from my POV in shit quality here (go to 1:12:50 for the start of the race): https://www.twitch.tv/videos/223388141

Can't say I'm not disappointed considering I actually bloody won for once, but yeah, in light of the technical difficulties I think we'll have to call it practice run.

Yeah it was a shitshow all around. Hopefully we got all the bad mojo out this week.

AFAIK lobbies can't do formal qualifying sessions, that's why we do practice first to let people set lap times. It's not great, but that's all we have to work with.

I tested it offline. Felt it was a lot more controllable but the back end still slips more than I am used to. Got times of 1:56, not sure how good that was. Perhaps it was the tyre wear. I'll practice a bit more this week and let you know. Needed to pit every 3 laps lol

Strange... looking at the starting grid list on your stream, I'm not even on there. There must have been some network issues that caused a desync or something.

The Gr.3 really requires a soft touch. Dropping off the throttle while turning tends to produce a lot of oversteer and it's very sensitive to throttle application while turning. Trail braking can help with that a bit. But that's why I keep weak CSA on in daily races, it's just too easy to blip a bit too hard and send it into the grass and the CSA counteracts some of that squirrellyness. But in our no-CSA races I've had to just be very very cautious about my inputs. But yeah, let me know what you want to do, I'm fine either way.

I had it on GT5 where there was a guy I could never see who used to be in our lobby quite a lot - people used to say we'd pass through each other a lot, we'd never see each other even on the scoreboard, I guess just due to network incompatibility.

I started in 5th but OGG last the back end on turn 2 which promoted me to 4th then GHG fired off to the left in a similar area on lap 2 putting me in 3rd behind Jambo whilst Rutty disappeared off into the distance. OGG and I had a battle for a while but he got through and was tussling with Jambo at the head of our 3 car train. I lost the back end coming out of turn 4 tho on lap 5 on worn tyres which gave OGG around a 10 second lead ahead of me. Rutty, OGG and I all pitted but Jambo stayed out till lap 8? Rutty was running on softs though and was just so much quicker.Jambo pitted and came out just ahead of me but then I had to pit again while he was on a 1 stop. I came out the pits the 2nd time having taken a chance of running softs for the final stint, with OGG about 7 seconds ahead. I got the gap down to about 4 seconds over the next couple of laps but lost the back end on the exit of bloody 4 again. The gap was up to 12 seconds now, my soft tyres were knackered and there was a big gap back to GHG in 5th so I just took it easy and made sure I didn't spin again, finished about 20 seconds behind OGG.

I just never felt completely confident in what the McLaren was going to do so didn't really push it that hard. Hopefully the confidence will come the more I use it and I'll get quicker. Rutty was outstanding today, just so bloody quick and Jambo did very well too on a 1 stop. I'm looking forward to watching the replay and seeing what else went on!

As for the start, yeah as soon as the time is up do not go in the pits. I saw 2 cars in there and waited till they both came out and reappeared on the leaderboard before starting so don't know what happened there.

I just ran at my own pace on mediums with fuel mixture at 5, one stop on lap 8. Didn't realise there was a race on lol

Here is my view, including qualifying and a look at my settings right after the race.

Lol, you can see the gap where my car should be in that thumbnail :D

Also, not that it matters now, but you set your car up with the GT4 BoP settings, not the GT3...

Mercedes:
  • 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Gr.4 - Power Ratio : 97%, Weight Reduction Ratio: 105% - prarts
  • 2015 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Gr.3 - Power Ratio : 93%, Weight Reduction Ratio: 100% - JamboGT

Just had my first FIA race as a DR C, on Monza. C ranks are dirtier than D drivers! It was mayhem even beside the mayhem of that track. Had three different Lambos trying to take me out, one tried to ram me off the track as I was passing them on the finish line. I think both my rankings took a big hit on that one. The SR system is simply not working if SR S drivers are allowed to ram people off.

Oh and they still haven't fixed that yellow flag situation where ghosted cars on the track give you a 5 second penalty. I got that twice during the race. :/

It gets worse. I think the actual system incentivise this kind of behavior.

In my way to DR B I've seen so much bullshit that I going to stop playing Sport mode for a time.

One thing that might help is have your SR during the the race also dictates how much DR you will gain based in your position.

So now I see that I got a little help on my way off the track when my supersoft tires ran out of rubber on lap 2 :P

Haha that explains why he came blasting past in qualifying like a rocket. Also with a lower weight reduction ratio, won't he gain weight or does it work in reverse of the wording?

Anything over 100% for weight reduction means weight is being taken away from the car.

Take a look at JamboGT video, we are the last two guys in pits right before race start. Coincidence?
I went on track only few seconds before start, that was probably it.
Had a good run, was eating time difference lap after lap, 5 more and miky would be within my reach (or I would spin out).

I think someone on GT Planet worked out a while back that in order to make sure qualifying time registers you need to be out of the pits and be at least past sector 1 on your out lap.

Well that explains it, I just parked right outside of pit exit and waited there for race to start - definitely didn't cross 1st sector mark.
It's stupid, another bug.
