It shows it in the third section for me.

Started chapter 6 b-side, shit's getting real.

Bit curious, which version are you playing it on? It was appearing in the second section for me too (switch version), and still does after getting it.

Yeah, I'm playing the Switch version and the cassette icon is on the second section.

I just managed to complete the Bsides for the first world, 406 deaths. This game will take me all of 2018.

Also, looking at the chapter select, it looks like there is an empty spot to the left of the hearts. Without spoiling me, am I missing some secret thing?

The only thing that's kinda frustrating me (and really this is my own incompetence rather than fault with the game), is how unbelievably precise you have to be with the direction you move the analogue stick whilst dashing.

I've lost count the number of times I've died during intense moments because she's dashed straight to the right instead of diagonally up right etc

Finished chapter 2s B-side and it only took 223 deaths. I was enjoying the game up too now but that level affirmed just how well designed these levels are.

Chapter 1's B-side is harder than the final chapter, I'd definitely recommend finishing the game first then basically treating the B-sides like NG+.

Overall it's an excellent, excellent game, easily the best in its subgenre of "tough as nails, room-based platformers" if you ask me.

I was not expecting an endearing and thoughtful story attached to the pure platforming gameplay - and not only that, but the story actually frames the gameplay in a way where the gameplay is interesting thematically as opposed to just mechanically. Great game and unless we get some surprise hits later this year, it'll probably be on my GOTY list.

Playing on Switch and already had two game crashes near the end of Chapters 2 and 4. Thankfully no progress lost. It might have something to do with fiddling with assist mode options (guilty as charged).

First Switch game to ever crash for me. Maybe needed a bit longer in the QA oven.

I think it's a Switch issue cos I had crashes in those two same places, and I haven't used assist mode (yet)

I should have read more about the game (beyond the scores) before buying it. That genre is just not for me and I wasn't particularly moved by the story :/

For anyone who has collected all the crystal hearts...
Am I thinking about it too much or is there something maybe hidden behind being able to move the order of the hearts in the ZL menu from the main map?
Edit: disregard that... Didn't realize there are hearts on the b-side levels... Got a hard crash at the end of b-side chapter 5 so I think I'm going to just give up for a while

What am I missing in the long, floorless room in the second B-side? I can't reach the green cristal that reset the dash.

edit:
you can jump out of the "dark" zone.

Did you play any of the B-side levels?

Also, while each stage has a gimmick, there's still plenty of pure platforming mixed in.

That being said, I respect your thoughts and an 8/10 is still a good score for the game.

I have not tried the b sides yet. I'll be trying them today. Like I said it's a great game those were just my minor complaints. I basically couldn't put it down.

Oh my god, that chapter 6 boss was no doubt one of the most challenging, yet satisfying and fucking awesome boss fights I've ever played in a game.

I hope chapter 7 doesn't have an equally challenging boss, I'm not sure I can handle it.

Sounds like a similar thing as in the initial release of Stardew Valley on Switch, which I believe also was made with XNA/Monogame. (There was a bug in the code on all platforms, but it triggered a crash only on Switch.)

Game was already great and then I got the chapter 4 crystal heart... :D
And when I read about how the other chapters have FEZ-style secrets. And with the great soundtrack, which also reminds me of FEZ and the Super Meat Boy precision platforming...

This game is basically a sequel of two of my favorite indie games of all time (with lovely characters and dialogue on top).

Fired on assist mode to see if I could find any other easter eggs and found this:

This game is ridiculously good. Only flaw is the doorbell sound effect keeps setting my dog off barking lol.

My thumb hurts. And I'm only on the 3rd area. although that might be because I spent an hour in the little computer mini game last night...

love this game.. only complaint is I had to turn the rumble off

Love this game but I must be terrible at it reading posts here! I just finished Chapter 3 (regular) and died over 1000 times :O

I hope I'm good enough to finish this. Love it so much!

Thanks Zroid! After learning this technique I over thought how to get to the path that leads to the first crystal and used the same technique needed to get crystal 2 to get to the path for crystal 1.

And then after getting the first crystal and coming back, I saw how much easy a path there is...sigh...
haha, well, finding bizarre ways to accomplish simpler tasks is part of the fun of these types of games! :D

Hmm....

guess I should start playing with the analog stick then.
Maybe I should too, lol. When i tried it earlier it just made me kind of panic a bit.

it's probably just a matter of getting used to

Halfway through the final chapter, I'm so close..

I've never played a game before that causes me to get so angry at myself.

What's the framerate on PC? Capped at 60 or does it support 144Hz?

Trying to decide between PC and Switch.

Is this game difficult with the Switch Dpad? I love the Switch, but, man, the Dpad is terrible for games like this. You can't use the pro controller either, cause its dpad doesn't always go where you want it to.

Regardless of how the game was "designed", I can't imagine playing this with an analog stick, lol. There are some 2D platformers where a stick works better, like Rayman Origins, but not here. The movements are too precise.

No issues for me... And I go after every strawberry I can. If I die it's my own execution, the analog stick has never failed me.

I'm really tempted to pick this up on Switch. How is the length? I'm looking for something on the shorter side right now.

It's as short as you want it to be. You could mainline the levels and finish it fairly quickly, depending on how much you die. Or there's stuff to find in the levels and optional versions of the levels to unlock.

That sounds perfect. Thanks for the response. I think I'll purchase it later on today.

Joycon dpad is perfect for this game imo. the discrete buttons give you absolute precise control.

pro dpad is fine as well but like you said sometimes i'll shift my thumb a little too much to the side and i'll end up moving diagonally without intending to. this doesnt happen with the joycon.

This game is harder than Meat Boy. I'm talking about the regular stages too. That's not a bad thing tho!

I only complete ch 1 & 2 B-side.... each one takes me 400+ death.......

Every time I want to throw my controller through the window I remind myself that Kirby will be here soon and Kirby will be much nicer to me than this mountain.

Well, I'm officially stuck. I'm in Chapter 5 and I can't get past a passageway of red spikes. I'll keep at it though. Game is just too damn good.
