Everyone watch Stranger (Forest of Secrets in South Korea). My family randomly found the show one day and we binged it over a week. One of the best shows of 2017.

Season 2 of The Shannara Chronicles is significantly improved over the first season. To bad it was sent to die on Spike. The production company is shopping it around again though.

I almost forgot how much I enjoyed One Day At A Time. Just a good sitcom that tackles certain societal issues really well, unexpectedly so. Season 2 is off to a great start already one episode in.

Finished 13 reasons why, not my usual wheelhouse but enjoyed it. But man some parts were tough to watch. Glad I finished high school well before the social media boom.

Also Manhunt: Unabomber is excellent, it's on Netflix Canada not sure about US.

I watched A Futile and Stupid Gesture last night, really funny, had its touching moments as well. It captured that National Lampoon feel perfectly.

Domhnall Gleeson is in everything now it seems.

Babylon Berlin looks great. The Weimar Republic has been underutilized as a setting for movies and TV shows. A crime drama set in Berlin during that time period could be fascinating.

Anybody feel like Netflix are lacking in adding another great blockbuster show? It seems since House of Cards and OITNB there hasn't been much to write home about, which is annoying. I really felt like they were going to go on a home run for original content. But if I'm being honest they've released a lot of garbage.

I don't have this impression. The only thing I don't like is when they have something I like, they don't have many episodes in a single set/season.

Two episodes into Babylon Berlin, and yeah, this shit is good. More people need to watch it.

First episode of Altered Carbon was okay. Some cool moments, dazzling visuals, but overall kinda hokey.

They have a much better hit to flop ratio than regular cable networks. Smaller stuff like American Vandal, End of the F***ing World, F is for Family, Mindhunter, Atypical, Glow... they're all very solid and enjoyable shows. Not breakout hits, but great TV.

I don't really care about blockbusters but I do think most Netflix Originals aren't all that good. I would say Mindhunter, Sense8, and Lady Dynamite are truly original, quality shows that don't seem to fall into any convenient categories. But two of those have already been canned. Too much of their slate is what I would call wannabe-prestige - House of Cards, The Crown, Ozark - with the look and feel of a great show but little of the substance. And then they have some fun shows - Stranger Things, Marvel stuff, Altered Carbon - that don't really add up to much. Forget Game of Thrones, Netflix needs its own Fargo or Americans or Better Call Saul or Leftovers. Just good quality TV.

I think as far as my own barometer is concerned, Stranger Things is one of the best TV shows out there and also probably one of the most popular television shows on right now.

I've heard this wannabe-presige moniker applied and I don't really agree with it. But I generally disagree with your broader point, I think they're doing a pretty good job and most of the originals I've watched are pretty good. Many of them were much better than I expected from the trailers. Hard not to feel biased with Altered Carbon, which is basically pitched right to me and my tastes.

EDIT: Also Mystery Science Theater 3000 coming back is the best thing ever. Castlevania was pretty good, hopefully it keeps up the quality. I don't like Black Mirror but a lot of folks do, that's a good co-production for them.

Interesting update from Bob Iger on the expiring Disney/Netflix deal: their 2016, 2017, and 2018 theatrical releases will stay available, at least for the foreseeable future.

One of the bigger questions Iger addressed during the call focused on Netflix's slate of Disney movies. Disney and Netflix announced last year that its landmark streaming deal will expire by the end of 2019, but not all films will leave the platform immediately.

"The Netflix output deal expires with the '18 slate," Iger said. "They will have rights to the films that were made in '16, '17, and '18 for quite a long period of time thereafter, with a window for us to use them ourselves that falls within the period of time... where they'll have those rights. The films that our studio makes in 2019 and beyond will be self-licensed, or licensed to our own platform, and that will include Marvel, Pixar, Disney and LucasFilm films."

I just finished watching Glow and really enjoyed it. My question is how "high budget" will they allow the show to get. WWF exists in this show, so will it always resemble an indy show at best, or will they end up looking like Raw or Nitro, with fireworks and titan trons? And if the show does have legs for several seasons, what's the end game? Do you show this promotion undergoing its eventual decline and demise? Do they go for a M*A*S*H* ending where everyone says goodbye and goes their separate way?

Watched Newness. Directed and written by the same guys who did Like Crazy. Relationship drama centered around an open relationship. Not bad. Hit some of the same beats as that previous film.

Possible good news for the Netflix Marvel shows

http://deadline.com/2018/02/disney-streaming-service-launch-slate-star-wars-marvel-1202281846/

"There will be no R-rated films, and the programming will be consistent with the Disney brand. The R-rated stuff will go on Hulu. The plan now is to leave the various Marvel series where they are, which means Netflix will hang onto its superhero inventory."

of course they can still cockblock new seasons if they so choose to.

It's not likely. It was previously stated that everything that Netflix has, they will continue to have for some years to come. It's just new IP's that won't come to Netflix. It wouldn't make much sense for Marvel to stop new seasons of well liked shows that are airing on Netflix. If the shows aren't well liked, then they'd likely get cancelled regardless of the licensing deal.

I'm guessing Disney couldn't even get the superhero shows off of Netflix even if they wanted to. The only thing they could probably do is stop making new seasons.

Pretty sure all the netflix original marvel series are R rated anyway, so they likely wouldn't want to migrate them to their service even if they were contractually permitted to.

I'm a sucker for rom coms, but the whole "Very attractive woman, significantly less attractive man" thing is not something I love.

Can't a guy dream? haha In all seriousness though, he's no Robby Amell but I don't think they are THAT far apart. Thanks for the reminder though. Its up! :)

Its either watch this or go the opposite end of the spectrum and check out The Ritual

I liked when we first met. I don't watch many rom coms but it did have at least an interesting twist on the whole groundhog/eternal recurrence theme. I liked it more than naked too.
