Like the title says what video game opening do you think is the best of the best or just your favourite of the bunch? Obviously got this idea from the ending credits thread.
Here are my top 3 no particular order

Its a shame that the announcer doesn't yell out the title in the newer games :(

Dragonball Z Budokai 3 Opening


English or japaness version of this intro rocks, man i wish they had this quality when they were doing the show. Music so catchy, and seeing everyone go up against their villians is great, Gohan getting owned per usual is also great lol

Atelier Iris 3 Grand Phantasm

Don't know why but i loved the grand feeling of an epic adventure about to unfold every time i hear this intro. Just a great song to get me pump for playing the game which was alright for what it was. Kinda wanna jump back into the series if it still exists

The North American opening of Tales of Symphonia stuck with for a long while. Felt incredibly grand for the time.

Just off the top of my head though the opening, NA version, of NieR would probably be my favorite. I always appreciate good cursing.

I'm not even a huge fan of KH anymore but that intro still gives me chills.

I definitely wouldn't call it the best opening but I'm quite fond of Danganronpa 2's OP.



V3's was excellent too.

You can't forget the masterpiece that is the Final Fantasy VIII opening. The music alone is amazing, but combined with the animation at the time just blew my mind.

It's gotta be Burn My Dread from Persona 3. Interesting visuals with a really unique soundtrack. Saw it mentioned above as well!

When PV1 came out, the song was on repeat constantly. The style and suave of it all is just hype.
Danganronpa V3

The devs describe the style of the game as Psycho-pop and the intro captures that (whatever it is). The remix on the original theme is superb.
KH2 as well. That intro is memorable and I still go watch it from time to time.

The openings for each episode of Tales from the Borderlands are incredible! Really good song choices. (Warning, possible spoilers)

I know some people get frustrated with the Super Metroid opening, but i really adore it. From the spoken first words to the fantastic music and atmosphere, for a SNES game there wasn't really anything quite like it.

Incredible memorable for me and one of my favourite openings (even if i do wish it was skipable).

I'm not entirely sure if the thread is asking for the attract video or the opening cinematic to games.

Anyways favourite attract video, mainly due to memories of playing the game one summer with friends and hearing the song on loop.
Silent Hill 3 (game spoilers)

Favorite game opening used to be Deadly Premonition's drive into town. Now it's probably Snatcher's opening.
Please play Snatcher, It's incredible

One that I fondly remember:

FInal Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (GC)


Sets the mood for the game perfectly.
Though it was not a very great game, I liked it for what it was.

"Mario I've baked a cake for you" It was a game changer. :) The music is great and it's funny seeing Lakitu with the camera flying outside the castle.

Final Fantasy 8, budokai 3, and melee are all pretty great.

Gonna throw Dragon ball Tenkaichi in there too. Seeing all of these guys fight in this opening blew my mind as a kid

I'm torn between picking a few of the posts on here. Kingdom Hearts 2, Chrono Cross, and Final Fantasy VIII are all so memorable, especially with the music combined in the openings.

I think aside from those, I like Arkham Knight's opening a lot.

Wild Arms series has really cool openings and in this case I think that the instrumental versions are superior to the japanese ones.

Intro/opening videos are one of my favorite video game elements so it's sad to see it become less common for games to have them over time. I'll put two of my faves below.

Tenchu series (Stealth Assassins, Birth of Stealth Assassins, and Wrath of Heaven all have great intros)


Silent Hill series (again most of these are great)

Great choices. Even now, the FFVI intro really sets a mysterious tone for the rest of the game. Great music and atmosphere.

Nothing like that at the time for Nintendo, and still not even really now. Dark, creepy music and boom-dead bodies laying around. It opens like a horror movie.

Ah man so many game openings I like equally. I'll go with Ys II Eternal this time. I really love these minimal animation openings from Falcom + they make some of the best music.
