On the other hand the comments from LRG seem to point that "cherry pickers" are the reasons behind a certain platform not continuing on. I just can't for the life of me understand this mentality.

LRG should be proud of what they have done and their releases, but just because someone doesn't collect a full set don't hang them out to dry either.
I don't think it's hanging people out to dry; it's just a reality that the smaller pool of people to sell to, the higher profile any given release has to be to justify itself financially.

I just don't get the energy people put towards things they don't like. Go and put it towards something you do like.

Please keep doing what you can Doug, because many of us do appreciate it. My Vita shelf would have a lot fewer games on it without your efforts. People just expect too much. If you never released another Vita game, I'd still think you did a hell of a job supporting it, better than much larger publishers. Each release still feels cool, to get a cart of a game that most likely wouldn't exist with out you guys. That's pretty damn cool.
Amen.
I've said this before, but if all the people who go and take a dump on something they don't like or care just to make sure other know they don't like that thing, or even to annoy others that do like it, put the same amount of time into doing something positive and constructive, the world would be a much better place.
Or at least, the Internet would be a more pleasant read.

I'm one of the "hardcore" Vita fans (6 systems an hundreds upon hundreds of games, both physical and digital) who have moved onto the Switch. So yeah while I still pick up a ton of releases compared to your average fan, I have become more picky as well.
A bit out of necessity since I already bought close to 100 Switch games since its release.
Still gonna pick up certain future Vita releases, but the passion certainly has cooled off considerably.
But when the Switch releases start coming, I'll be one of the people that will follow them up very closely and buy a ton, unless some really poor titles slip through.

Woof, my personal Twitter is not news. Might lock it soon if this keeps up...

I was more referring to there being a crap ton of releases from us, AAA and rivals. Definitely, acknowledge that we are mostly to blame, but even I'm broke keeping up with normal releases like DBZF, MHW, SotC, Dissidia Nt, etc...

Regarding Friday's sale, it was actually a success for us. We've already started conditioning ourselves to not sell out instantly since that probably will be the case on Switch with the amount we are printing.

I can say for sure though that Vita sales are definitely going down though. Even with bigger titles. We have some huge ones coming out and a few localizations coming but Vita is definitely a shrinking market. I keep getting messages from previous Vita fans saying they are going to buy our Switch stuff instead, going forward. I've even seen journalists who claimed to be Vita diehards switch to the Switch. We are going to keep pushing it as long as we can but we can see why others have dropped it. =(

To be fair there hasn't been what I would consider a "big Vita title" in quite a while. It's understandable that enthusiasm is low for stuff like Bit Trip, Rock Boshers, Mecho Tales etc.

Also I think people were really enthusiastic about wanting Switch games when you hadn't confirmed them yet and probably thought being willing to sacrifice Vita would make it happen. Now that they know you're doing Switch they'll probably still keep buying both.

This is what we are trying to communicate, this mentality. If people are "cherry picking" Vita releases then we are definitely going to slow down on signing new Vita games.

Just for the record, I have always cherry-picked my releases from you guys. That's no reflection on supporting you - I'd love to buy every release from you if I could, but it's just not a possibility on the wage I'm on.

BIT.TRIP did well, in the end, I guess I just expected everyone who bought Runner 2 to come back and grab the first one.

Count me in as one of the people who skipped Bit.Trip though. For starters, the forced motion controls in the games on Vita makes them a hard pass, but aside from that nothing in the package appealed to me aside from Runner 1.

Working on it! Maybe....

Just signed a Vita exclusive today actually.

This kind of positive teasing, as much as I've seen it annoy a few people in the past, is more what I was hoping for.

For the record, I'm still thrilled with what you have released - that you managed to land two (and by the looks of things, a third soon) Oddworld games physically, plus a bunch of other stuff like Oceanhorn; Ray Gigant and Risk of Rain that I've enjoyed is worth it in itself. And I'm definitely on Croixleur this week.

Ugggh. Yeah I'm unsubbing from this thread. This thread is really not very informative anymore and pretty much on the verge of being totally uninformative once anyone from LRG just totally avoids coming in here. Like damn, just vote with your wallet if you don't like something. What's the point of being super hostile to them?

Doug/Josh: I hope you guys are still able to get that 2064 vita release out at some point!

Just exhausting dealing with you, so I'm done.

Honestly, even though you're right, you're wrong for making this reply. You've said you're working on your communication for this year, and this isn't the way to go about it. Honesty and transparency is good, but I think you need to learn when not to respond sometimes too or how to respond in a way that doesn't show they've gotten under your skin about it.

I really appreciate that we have someone from LRG take the time to post here, but I suspect that will stop soon if he keeps being treated disrespectfully.

We all have opinions about how LRG should operate and what makes the most sense. Maybe some of those opinions are clouded by personal bias. Regardless, it's constructive to voice those opinions here, especially when we know that they will be read/responded to, but I feel like the tone that a lot of you are using has started becoming rude and dismissive.

Just my opinion.

I also agree with this statement. A lot of people here over the past few days have been acting really rude towards LRG over the stupidest of reasons, either because a game they didn't like was coming out and it would break their precious "100% collector streak" (which honestly, why the heck would you care about getting every single game if you're not going to play any of them and let them collect dust? Waste of money IMO.)

Whatever happened to buying games that are appealing and just leaving it at that? Even as I, someone who wants to collect as many of the PS4/Switch stuff as possible, know that I may have to skip a game, either due to budget, me already owning it, or some other factors. It's annoying when games take longer to ship due to still being in manufacturing, yes but some of you guys are being WAY too sensitive about such minor things instead of doing the proper thing and giving the company constructive feedback in a more courteous way instead of a childish one...

When I realized I'm never opening my LRG games and only continue to buy them for collection's sake, I lost most of my excitement for future releases. I'm still buying them and I get pretty happy when a japanese title is announced, but I have to say, I'm far more excited for their localization business going forward. LRG has the potential to strike deals other publishers either can't or just aren't interested, which is good for people who love japanese niche games.

I thought the same about the comments that Doug was going to turn his Twitter private because it isn't official LRG.

Meanwhile one of the problems has been that if we didn't follow LRG, Doug, and Josh on Twitter, read the LRG forums, the LRG website, be on the e-mail list, and follow the forum one the old site, and now ERA.. you didn't know what was going on. Communication was shaky enough that all of those were necessary pieces of the puzzle.

In the end it will be great if we could get to very concise and focused communication to the point that following owners would be of no benefit. It would reduce noise and frustration. But the comments about the roping off the Twitter account came across as vocal frustration towards customers.

So I think my River City and Double Dragon LEs got caught in the snow storm :x The projected delivery date was today for the west coast, but no updates since the 17th. The tracking number seems different too, since it's a series of 20+ numbers only, without a combination of numbers and letters like usual UPS tracking.

I'm hoping the snowstorm is the only thing keeping it back, but they haven't even detailed it yet:

Butner, NC, United States 01/17/2018 6:35 A.M. Package transferred to destination UPS Mail Innovations facility
01/17/2018 1:06 A.M. Package processed by UPS Mail Innovations origin facility
Butner, NC, United States 01/16/2018 6:49 P.M. Package received for processing by UPS Mail Innovations
Cary, NC, United States 01/16/2018 6:00 P.M. Shipment tendered to UPS Mail Innovations
United States 01/15/2018 10:26 A.M. Shipment information received by UPS Mail Innovations

I'm not sure what "UPS Mail Innovations" is, either. Most of my UPS tracking shows up as "Arrival Scan/Departure Scan/etc".

I just get the email spam. It lets me know a day or three before stuff is released. I'm not sure what more people want? I can't seen the benefit of following the owners and such.

The only oversight in communication I can see is they need a simple breakdown of all the releases shipping expectations. This could be done with a simple table at the bottom of the regular spam or a page on their website, where it lists each release and an expected date that sold games should start shipping out.

Thank you for this!

This was one of my favorite forums to visit but now I dread refreshing this thread.
Hey, hopefully you can stick around, I think you guys are being treated unfairly. I know a lot of work goes into what you guys do, and ultimately you cannot please everyone. Just try not to let them get to you, this forum has a lot of cool level headed people on it. Only reason I don't post in here much is that I'm still waiting on your Switch stuff. I don't collect for PS4/Vita.

Hope things will cool down a little bit... it's been a bummer keeping up with the conversation the past week.

I've never been one to shy away from having an opinion about a game's quality or how something was handled, but I still appreciate LRG for all the great content they've helped to release. Their contributions have been a major net positive in my book.

At the end of the day, this kind of business is still very new, and I think we could all stand to be a little more constructive with our criticism. There's a big difference between telling LRG what we do and don't like as consumers vs laying into them for several straight pages.

The vitriol on this board and at Reddit has been pretty outrageous. I honestly expect better from here but am more and more frequently being disappointed by how some outliers are acting on this board in general. Thankfully that one joker a few pages back was banned.

Doug, you gotta remember that even when you see more negativity than not, it doesn't represent the whole picture. Your games are slowing down sometimes sure (and recognizing those patterns is smart), but they're always selling out. You put out products that sell, and they sell in the thousands while you hear shitty remarks from maybe a couple dozen.

Remember that.

You guys have passed a threshold of popularity where before you were surrounded by dedicated and loving fans, but over time you've gotten bigger and more noticed where that isn't gonna be the case anymore. You're well known now, so that means assholes are gonna start coming out of the woodwork.

You don't need to tell those people to fuck off by voicing it either blatantly or subtly on boards or social media. No, you can tell them to fuck off in a louder and more resonating way by not giving them your time of day, and continuing to produce and distribute a successful run of products no matter how vile they get.

(Of course, continue responding to upset fans who truly have a respectful reason to be upset)

We love ya Doug/LRG!

UPS delivers to your local post office. At that point USPS will bring it during a normal mail drop to your house.

That's what I was wondering it was, since tracking looked more like a USPS number. I checked on USPS and it basically said "haven't received package yet".

Don't freak out yet, I just received mine yesterday after over a week of no updates to the tracking.

Yeah, hopefully it just shows up out of nowhere.

I'll investigate USPS mail innovations, other companies we deal with use it but for some reason, our customers seem to have it the worst when it comes to tracking.

Thanks for all the support. Just got in a custom Vita case with our logo on it. Holds 12 games, has a spot for charging cable and obviously your Vita. It's a nice hardshell clamshell case with zippers and a ring to add a strap or charm. Next up is to make a Switch case.

It is too bad that you can't offer an option for straight USPS, even if it's a few dollars more. I'd pay for the upgraded shipping. Mail innovations is the slowest shipping around. I seem to recall someone saying you had to look for alternative shipping options because you were overloading the local post office. Is that the case?

It is the worst shipping that you can possibly use. A package can make it to the local post office and disappear for days, despite being 5 minutes away in my case. A second tracking number is assigned by the post office, then they deliver it whenever they get around to it.

The tracking is broken more often than not. I had one get handed off to USPS days ago, and it has been delivered for about 24 hours. The USPS tracking piece still does not work.

There is a similar method called UPS Surepost, where the same handoff occurs. It is better becaus the customer can pay an annual fee to have all of these automatically upgraded to UPS ground. Unfortunately it doesn't work for Mail Inovations, so the customer is screwed.

I still don't understand how Vita is "slowing down" when it's selling as well as PS4 releases.
For The Bit.TRIP, both versions took about the same amount of time to sell, but the Vita had only about 3/4 as many copies available, where as early releases were 1:1.

There's nothing wrong with constructive criticism, and over the past 6-9 months some of it has been deserved with some of their decisions. Ignoring those concerns doesn't help anything. Ultimately, the better LRG does, the better it is for everyone.

You're speaking from a different position than most of us because you benefited from having LRG publish your game, even bumping the MSRP to $29.99 in part to help support you. We're on the outside looking in as fans.

Am I the only one that's buying these to actually play them? I hold off on buying digital releases if I know that there's a physical release coming soon. I've been playing Wonderboy, Skullgirls and several other of my limited run games. It feels weird to keep these sealed.

I've had a tough time with that. If it's a game I am really interested in, then I already bought it for full price on Steam. If it's something where the LRG announcement gets me interested, by then it's usually like $2-5 on Steam so I check it out.. Then I'll LRG buy what I like and wind up not opening it b/c I'm a loser and already played it. Pretty much just backlog at that point, or redundant.

Admittedly I've cooled on Vita due to Switch, and PS4 due to Xbox One X and PC.. and the HDMI handshake issues my Pro has with my TV.

I hope to be able to open and play all one day. I even sold my used copy of Night Trap because it wasn't worth keeping. Awful game but I should have expected that to be honest. I only want to collect games that I actually like so if I have time to play all LRG games then I will with the exception of the ones I can play via PS+, GWG or Game Pass. Those will remain sealed.

So far I've only opened maybe 20-30% though because there is just so damn many great games out there to play and I've been trying to work on my backlog primarily.

I buy games exclusively to play them. LRG is no exception. The few times I've come into possession of particularly valuable or rare games that were sealed, I sold them. I like the collection aspect of physical games as much as the next person, but putting that kind of money and effort into something that sits on a shelf when the opened and playable version sits up there just as nicely is just not for me.

We definitely do benefit from full set collectors! BIT.TRIP did well, in the end, I guess I just expected everyone who bought Runner 2 to come back and grab the first one.

Do you guys know how many customers do you have that go for a fullset? Do you keep track of this kind of stat?

I was trying to go for a Vita fullset but I gave up some time ago since most titles don't really interest me but I'm still going for a LRG Vita fullset.
It gets more expensive since I live in Brazil but I don't think there are a lot of brazilians collecting Vita and even less going for the LRG fullset.
I would just like if you would release more games on the same date so that I would save on the shipping but I know that then other people would complain about the number of games released on the same day.

I'm also speaking from the position of someone who released what a lot of people considered to be the worst Xbox One game of the year with the original GunWorld, and has more than experienced the difference between constructive criticism and vitriolic hate. Not all criticism LRG gets, even on this board, is constructive. Look back a few pages to the member who was banned (if his posts are still here) for reference. I even make a note in my post to say that they should continue responding to the criticism that comes from a reasonable place.

So yeah, I am speaking from a different position than most of you, I'm speaking from a position of a person who's been in their shoes before both as a dev and elsewhere. But I'm also a long time customer of theirs as well, and responding to truly constructive criticism is where they should consider stopping. Responding to vile hate-spewing nonsense and giving it the time of day isn't good for LRG, and more importantly it isn't good for the emotional health of people like Doug who have to see and read that shit every day.

It's just the two of us. Hope you're not using the hold shipment service.

I thought you had given up on the LRG fullset.

I'm not using the hold shipment service.
Every game released I pay to ship it to here.
I have 6 games on the way but I'm getting a little worried because the tracking on Correios is not updating.
The package with the Steamworld games still hasn't arrived.

I got just for PS4 title (Dragon Fantasy).
I just prefer to get Vita titles.

The same goes for me, the last title was La Mulana.
I'm also waiting for my 8Bit Xmas 2017 cart and this one I'm really worried since the USPS tracking says it arrived in Brazil December 1 or 2.
