Still not as good as the opaque 2D radar screens IMO, but most certainly an improvement in visibility over the damn globes. The only time I want a radar globe projection effect is in the big bridges of larger multicrew ships - ships where you're not trying to fly and look at it simultaneously.
- The small twirling trails: Good if exhaust. Bad if supposed to be contrails, whacky flailing inflatable tube man funny.
Yeah, the effects were overdone to say the least. I won't ask for real life accuracy on visual things like that, but it needs to be toned down and less opaque. Looked cartoonishly exaggerated the way it was.

I think the big thick trail is the contrail.

The thin thingies at the wingtips are engine trails.

[E503] Is now tentatively known as "Starbound Universal". Assuming we don't receive and major push-back on the name, we'll move into the logo/emblem theme discussion within the next day or two. While I'll post status updates here, the debate will take place in the org Discord as a forum just isn't ideal for holding the rapid-fire conversation needed for brainstorming.

Yay, account finally approved!

I hope with this new start people will be less prone to derail and shitpost every SC threads, especially with that CitizenCon we've been served yesterday.

I'm not on Discord so I'll just say that this has a nice ring to it. Plus, then we'll all be 'Bounders:

bound·er
ˈboundər/

noun
BRITISH; informal; dated
  1. a dishonorable man.
"he is nothing but a fortune-seeking bounder"
I daresay it fits!

The Dread Pirate Roberts said:
I'd also love for them to have a stream that starts on time and doesn't involve the phrase "That's never happened in any of our playthroughs before..." Not expecting miracles, though. Seriously, why is that so hard for them? Maybe Chris should stop trying to direct things on the fly. That can't be a good way to do things.

Looking back on my pre-stream thoughts... they may have been an hour late by the end but they fixed just about everything else! Glad to see they (finally) learned some lessons. I think this is going to help their image a lot going forward, especially if they can have a smooth S42 stream in December.

Arc Corp looked awesome! I'm wondering how much of those buildings we'll be able to explore.
Ones at landing zones only, it'd be a bit pointless to have a city PLANET SIZED that you can go into every building, it'd get boring and very taxing. Hopefully they make the landing zones large enough that they do feel like a "city" within the planet without making the landing zones too redundant.

I like all 3 names. Just glad the core group stayed intact. You guys are the best.

I'm hoping for more than landing zones only, but much less than every building. It would be nice to have explorable rooms/buildings scattered throughout cities to use for shady deals or as hasty hideouts. Maybe populated with bandits? Something to incentivize exploring the cities at least.

I'm absolutely sure that the only buildings that have interiors will be those in landing zones, but that the landing zones will be expansive enough that they feel like the cities they're supposed to represent, to a certain degree.

Edit: Oh, and outposts and space-stations will have interiors of course, but I'm talking about ArcCorp city here.

Well crap, I was trying out the multiple choice option and it can't be undone. Please just stick with one.

The polls are actually pretty locked down once created - possible responses can be added but not changed or removed. Makes sense for protecting the integrity of the results.

The poll itself can't be removed either. Good to know! I'll see if a mod can do that later. Polls should have their own thread I guess.

Raticus79 Says that the poll will automatically close at 7:11 PM tonight? Do you still want me to delete it, or do you want to wait?

I'm glad to see that the org survived the recent storm. I wasn't very active member of this community before, but then again I was somewhat disappointed in rate of progress on SC development. But the CitizenCon was great and with 3.0 coming out maybe things will pick up.

I almost loved what we saw of Hurston more than Arcorp too. The tech was jaw dropping for the latter but just landing on the outskirts of a city, seeing the flora and then fauna and the building scale from the ground. Incredible! I cannot wait to experience that for myself.

Agreed Freezer, in a way, this Citizencon has made me look forward more to what's beyond 3.0 than for 3.0 itself! 3.0 is the base or foundation for what's coming. Starting next year CIG's plan is to move to fixed, quarterly patch releases and shift focus to content generation like what we saw at Citizencon--building on 3.0. It will undoubtedly be awhile before we see Hurston or Arcorp like in the Citizencon demo, but I think there's a good chance we'll see at least one of those landing areas next year.

A games like Star citizen will benefit great with an AI system like what Storybricks tried to do. I know the NPCs are suppose to have their own schedules, but I didn't here much about that.

"Subsumption" is the system for that here. We hear bits and pieces about it. It'll be important for Squadron 42 too (e.g. ship duties).
