I only had time for the first race at Maggiore but it was very good despite binning it on the first lap trying to avoid divebombing at the end it the long straight (in my defence I'm sure they were on the brakes super early) By time I got back on track I was dead last 15 secs behind the next driver managed to catch up and pass a couple of cars over the next 3 or 4 laps and settle in behind Bradley. I was gaining on him in certain sectors but was too cautious trying not to ruin both our races and to be fair I think he put in the fastest lap of the race with me chasing down his viper. I was in the Aston. We both pitted at the end of lap 7 I think and came out and commenced. Someone ran out of fuel half a lap or so from the end..... We've all been there lol.

Honestly think if I'd Been able to get some practice in today I could have been competitive. Roll on next Sunday when I've no work. Can't wait.

Great race guys can't wait to see the front runners battles as I forgot to save the replay

Had a fun battle for 1st on the second track. I was in P2 a good part of the race, in certain sections I would lose some time but then gained in others. And I was right behind Bradley as I followed him into the pits. Did a tire change with minimal refuel right on the dot and I came out in front! P1. Then lead the way across the line. Props to my pitcrew. :D

I had no practice time and only one qualifying lap on the first race -- I was trying to cram lunch into my mouth and had some lobby issues -- so I started 5th. There was also some confusion about tires; me and one or two others thought RH were acceptable because it was selectable in the setup. I was in 4th or 5th the majority of the race, and unfortunately I didn't get the fuel balance right, or more likely I should've pitted. At the start of lap 5 RounD and I had Oghuz and GHG pit out in front of us and RounD took first; I kept my fuel at 1 to keep up with them. I think at the beginning of lap 6 I put my mapping to 3. Then I put it to 5 towards the end of lap 9 because I got the fuel warning. On the last turns of the final lap I was suddenly shocked to see BradleyLove dive in on the inside (the fog gave a false sense of security as you can't really see far back). And then panicked when Fifanutz pulled past me in short order. I had a moment of anger as my 4th place finish was slipping away and fumbled with the UI frantically to try to give the car more juice, but I ended up careening off the track for my trouble. At that point the fuel gave out and I limped down the straight for a 6th place finish.

p.s. Fifanutz yeah watching the replay, it looks like manstrokemole (who is that here?) braked a bit early on the downhill to get more speed coming out of the turn. Oh and RounD, nice racing.

Great watch seeing it from your perspective. You very nearly made the no stop strategy work and conserved the tyres really well too. I feel your pain!

Good fun races last night guys.Turnout numbers are dwindling though it has to be said.

Maybe we should start a structured championship series schedule with points & teams which will give people some extra impetus? I'm thinking a mixed class (GR3 & GR4) 12 lap endurance race once a week where each team consists of one GR3 and one GR4 driver.

Does Sunday at 9pm GMT still work for everyone on a weekly basis or do we need to change the day/time?

Since I'm pretty free today I'll get a schedule, points system (with bonus points for qualifying positions and fastest laps during the race) and a signup form sorted, give me a few hours.

Quick question, is the lobby size a maximum of 16?

Sorry I couldn't make it last night (family stuff), glad it went ahead though.

I'm very much up for a championship, but I don't know if multi-class is a little ambitious, there's no blue flag system.

Unfortunately I'm only fully available 2 sundays out of 6 and a 3rd Sunday until 10pm as I was last night. I work nights and a rolling week so no getting around it for me otherwise I'd be there every week.

I'm available next week so looking forward to it

Hey I'm manstrokemole, my apologies for any mistakes that I made, I know there were at least 3/4. First corner I definitely nudged round unintentionally, I was terrified of braking too early or late as there were so many of us I was definitely going to hit someone, thought I'd got it spot on but just slowly, inexorably closed the gap despite standing on the brake, sorry. As for the downhill, I haven't checked the replay but I wouldn't be surprised if it was me braking early, probably not for extra speed I was just out of practice for the track, I was all over the place.

Apologies again but I enjoyed the race (once I remembered how to drive), I'm fairly sure vonhammer slowed right down so he could play with me for the last lap :D

I'm very much up for a championship, but I don't know if multi-class is a little ambitious, there's no blue flag system.

If GR1 was involved then I'd agree as the speed difference (especially through corners) is too much to be safe without a flag or notification (e.g. fast car approaching) system but I think people should be aware enough to see when a car behind is much faster than them to be able to allow them to pass.

The races have been quite clean and fair so far so I think we can trust each other enough :)

The idea behind it is to make things a lot more interesting and reduce skill gaps. For example if the GR3 leader(s) hit slower GR4 traffic then it will allow those behind to catch up and get involved in a battle again. It means than even if you lose ground in the first few laps there is a huge incentive to keep on going because all sorts of things can happen later on in the race.

The multiclass stuff also means that way even if you don't win your individual category there's a chance that collectively with your team mate you can win the constructors championship.

Basically it should create mini rivalries everywhere.

Thanks man. Yeah it was an exciting race despite the agony of my defeat at your much better race strategy. ;)

GHG yeah, sorry I couldn't make the other two races; I didn't have the Viper and then had to take care of a family issue. As for the time, I think what we have now is probably the most reasonable time for everyone considering most of you are in UK/Europe/ME and I'm in California. Hopefully we'll pick up a few more people over time so that if someone has to drop out it doesn't take down our roster by 15-20%.

moley moley moley ok cool. No worries about the mistakes, we all make them.

It all sounds great, and I would definitely be up for it.... but I think weekends could well be a problem for me moving forward - As some of you may remember, the company I work for went into administration at the start of December and I get made redundant at the end of January. I've taken a bit of a leap and gone into contracting but my job is going to mean working away for 1 week in 2 - this isn't a problem as such (I have another PS4 and I'll have a net connection) but it does mean my missus isn't going to be keen on me being away all week and then spending 1 of the nights of the weekend racing against you guys instead of spending time with her!

As Eyeball say however, the current time is probably the fairest time to run it as it works pretty much wherever you are. It'll just mean I could probably only do every other week.

GHG Good points, hadn't thought about it that way. My other concern would be that BoP is trash. Maybe we could have two different cars, one Gr.3 and one Gr.4? That would add some variety whilst keeping the playing field level.

DHC-Shannow Maybe we could have Championship races every fortnight (like F1) and have the off weeks as fun short races for everyone? That would give people more chance of having time to prepare, although if we did do that I think we should go for longer races (an hour?) or maybe two 30 minute identical races.

So, how much can you do in this game without PS+? I have the game on order, but I didn't renew my PS+ membership last year.

Ok right lads, here it is, just put together some quick and dirty graphics:

completionpkjyk.png

The Multiclass ResetEra GT league is here.

The races will be multiclass with 8 teams of 2 drivers. Each team will consist of 1 GR3 driver and one GR4 driver. If we have more than 16 people sign up (hopefully) then there will be reserve drivers assigned to each team that can step in in the event of one of the primary drivers being unable to make it for a particular weekend. If you are a primary driver and you cannot make it for the next race please notify me at least 48 hour prior to the next scheduled race so that I can make efforts to get a reserve driver lined up in your place.

We will run 2 seasons, each season will be 6 weeks long with a race each Sunday. There will be a 3 week break in between Season 1 and Season 2. Season 1 run from Sunday 28th January 2018 through to Sunday March 4th 2018. Season 2 will begin on Sunday 25th March 2018.

One more thing to note, the races will be timed (e.g. 30 minutes) rather than be done on laps.

I will post tire and fuel degradation settings tomorrow to make sure everyone has plenty of time to practice.

Great work GHG, thanks so much for the effort! I'm happy to host if needed (although I do have a ticket raised with Plusnet because our connection keeps dropping so probably not the ideal first choice at the moment).

Is it worth setting up a thread to get it on the front page?

I think you could argue that BMW GR4 is more OP than the Porsche GR3 though, might be worth considering swapping them for Dodge or Subaru?

Impressive work on this, GHG.

Only thing I'd say is I much prefer the original Yamagiwa to the combined circuit. Other than that it looks great, though I'm going to have to do a lot of laps on Nurburgring 24H to get anywhere near acceptable at it.

Oh, one thing I'd lobby for again is allowing Countersteer Assist. I use weak CSA and TC 0 in most of my Gr.3 races and it just helps tame the 458 Gr.3 a bit, which is really squirrelly.

RULES & POINTS SYSTEM

gtsporterapointssystexbsvh.png

Working example of points system:
You qualify 1st (8 points) but have a terrible start and drop down to last place in your class. You manage to fight your way back to 7th place (4 points) and set a fastest lap in the process (10 points). You finish the race with 20 points.

Championship standings:

Combined ------- GR3 ------------ GR4 --------- Team (constructors)

I will update this section after every race with tables for the above.

Rules & lobby settings TBC - BOP will be on, tire and fuel settings need to be decided. All skill levels welcome.

Thanks for the kind words guys. A couple of notes:

  • If it turns out that any of the cars/manufacturers are OP over the course of season 1 then we can make the necessary changes for season 2. I think that overall it should be pretty well balanced, especially when there will be added challenges/pressures like having to share a track with a group of cars in the category above/below and then the 45 minute finale at nurburgring in the dark.
  • Brands Hatch, Bathurst, etc will be appearing in season 2 so don't worry, every track will get some coverage.
  • If some people stick around after the main race we can still do some random sprint races using whatever tracks/cars people want.
And finally, anyone interested please please please fill out the form in the bottom of the post. I can't guarantee places to anyone who doesn't fill it out since it's the fairest way of distributing who goes into what team and whether they are going to be racing GR3 or GR4.

No Alfa, either. I might've chosen Alfa as my backup if given the choice, but I'd imagine no one wants to drive it. Viper seems a popular choice though, so not sure why it was left off.

GHG was limiting each manufacturer to one team done to ensure car variety?

I'll analyse the data once there have been 16 responses. There have been 8 so far and it's already looking pretty skewed so there might be some changes yet.

Dodge and Acura (Honda) are stand in's since their cars are based on real world cars.

Alfa Romeo was omitted because it's a fantasy car. There is no 4C that runs in any real world GT3 or GT4 championships.

Psycho_Mantis thanks for alerting everyone.

Ah, right. When I read that I was thinking you meant VGTs. Makes sense. (at least Alfa is running a F1 car this year)
You wouldn't want Alfa eyeball, it's been nerfed into the ground. I just made the mistake of taking the Gr.4 Alfa to today's daily at Brands Hatch, qualified at the bottom end of the grid and struggled to hold onto my starting position. A bit pissed off I thought I'd try out the M4 that is dominating the grid line-up, after literally a couple of laps I'd knocked 2 seconds off my Alfa quali time*, in a car I've never driven before... BoP is trash :(

* After a few more I got it down nearly three seconds! Three! On a 90 second lap.

If I included the Alfa then it would mean I might have to include the Beetle and we all know nobody wants that :)

I'll pretend you didn't just compare the Alfa to a grocery car! I was actually surprised to see three Beetles in yesterday's FIA Maggiore race. I thought everyone had gotten the memo, but there they were, flailing about in their Beetles getting in everyone's way.

True, I quit using the 4C Gr.4 after the severe (and undeserved) nerf. I think the Gr.3 is still usable, I've seen people use it, but it requires a very light touch.

I bet we'll see another round of BoP changes with the update this week.

Had an awesome race tonight on the Gr.3 daily in my Viper.

Didn't quali so started 20th and it was looking like I'd need two fuel stops. So instead I dropped fuel map right down during the twisty middle section of Bathurst, right back up for the rest. Managed to conserve fuel enough to pit end of lap 6, came out in 11th. Not sure whether others were on fuel save, worn tyres, or whether I was driving really well, but managed to finish in 4th, 0.3s behind a podium.

I was a little gutted to miss out on 3rd tbh, but the guy in 3rd drove really solid and cleanly, so I don't have too many complaints.

Yeah I wonder how they decide the BoP - it's kind of always been 1 car that suddenly becomes popular after the changes as the community finds the new best performer - in the beta it was the GTR (don't see those much now) then at the release it was the Caymen, then the Alpha. The BMW just handles very well, good speed and turns in without the back becoming loose or unstable.

Yeah it's definitely required (BoP levelling) - hopefully it'll mean we can use some of the other cars and still be competitive.

Wow 4th from 20th is amazing! You'll be levelling up quickly after that I should imagine.

I didn't get Psycho_Mantis' alert, weird.

Looks like it could be a really nice championship! I filled the form, but more than a class/manufacturer preference I have a preference for single cars :P I wouldn't mind the AMG Gr.3 or the Audi Gr.4. But anything is fine, really.

Little rant about the game: the discover feature is an absolute mess. I can't comprehend how there's no way to see the most liked liveries for a specific car. It's absolutely mind-boggling, especially because the "most liked" tab shows the usual Porsches, 458s, etc.

It's also hilarious that they limit the decal "tag" search by periods of time (I'm guessing to reduce server load), because this brings people to upload the same fucking decal every two weeks or so - also because there's no way to search older uploads from the game itself.

And I'm still struggling to upload liveries with more than 30 user decals: I'm starting to believe that it depends on one own's upload speed (mine is terrible), because I can see much more complex liveries shared by others. Yet it makes no sense - how much would a livery weight? 2MB at most?
I have a very simple AMG Haribo livery (only 75 layers, of which 34 are user decals) that I can't use, and it's breaking my heart.

I'm thinking of selling my G27 because I'm sick of using my GIMX adapter. The extra setup is enough for me to barely bother using it.

What do y'all think of the T150 vs the G29 for Gran Turismo Sport? And just how bad are the plastic pedals that come with the normal T150? (the Pro version with metal pedals is almost as expensive as the G29)

EDIT: Just signed up for the ERA league. Great job setting it all up!

I have the G29 and just bought GT Sport. Compared to PC2, the FFB is really weak on GT Sport (I might have to fiddle with some settings but I did up the FFB in the options I found). Its much less communicative than in PC2 and it kind of gives a numbness to the whole experience. The wheel itself is pretty nice IMO though, Im no expert but the pedals feel high quality and the wheel is mostly metal and leather. Ive never used a belt driven unit so I dont know what Im missing in that regards but the wheel has been very good to me while playing PC2 and Dirt Rally (Dirt Rally especially feels amazing)

Are you not able to move up to the T300 RS GT? I switched from the G29 to the T300RS GT, and whilst the G29 was good, it just didn't give the same sense of realism or feedback of the road or car.

I think because it is gear driven instead of belt driven, that extra inner noise and grain can just slightly drown out or mask some of the more subtle force feedback indicators, like for example the loss of traction or slip, Important to feel just before spinning out for prevention etc.

The T300RS GT also has much stronger force feedback, is smoother overall, and the pedals are just as good for me when you fit the conical mod they come with. Food for thought.

T300RS starts going into "out of budget" territory. I'd rather not spend a fortune for something I'm not gonna have the energy to use all that often. Plus, isn't the wheel plastic and rubber? I'd feel pretty bad about spending so much money into a product that feels cheap to the touch.
