I just got past the episode where Gene forgets the black garlic, and his character just seems carciature-like compared to the early seasons. Its almost a totally different character! Alot of these episodes feel that way, totally different from the early episodes. The plots are getting more and more absurd too.

The first 3 seasons are so amazing. Lightning in a bottle with all of the elements coming together. Is there a decline after that? I don't think the later episodes are bad, just different.

My only real disappointment is that they start doing the Simpsons / Futurama Tree House of Horror style episodes and those never really work for me.

But I generally love the whole shebang.

The characters never felt like they shifted that much to me. I've found all the seasons enjoyable with the first being the least enjoyable. And season 6 finale was such a good episode it could serve for a series finale

Some of the later season Christmas episodes are some of the best animated Christmas episodes of anything of all time, but yes I agree there is some Flanderization beginning to seep in.

Come on, Gene is still great.

I just rewatched the whole series and the show is pretty consistent. Gene's always been a huge jerk that makes double entendres.

The humor in the earlier episodes is a lot better. Darker. Louise in particular.

I've watched through about half of season 7 and don't feel like there was a drop in quality at all. The show kept delivering for me. There's some truly great musical numbers in season 5, 6, and 7 too.

There's a duet at the end of season 6 that kind of just left me in awe. Like, even with how absolutely silly the scenario was, the show just seemed 1000% confident in what it was doing and while I had really liked the series up to that point, that moment just kind of clicked with me and I thought "ok, this show is really something special."

I mean it is animated, the beauty of these shows is that the characters can shift into an extreme archtype of themselves to carry an episode and it's funny.

Mu favorite part of Bob's is that the characters never go too far and end up being ridiculously violent or mean spirited towards one another and if they are in the wrong they actually realize it and feel guilt or end up apologizing.

I was a huge fan of the show but just kind of stopped watching like halfway through season 5. I'm not really sure why, I'm sure it's still pretty funny but I just checked out.

I thought the latest episode was amazing. I hope Nat makes occasional future appearances. Also, nightmare makeover Louise had my wife and I rolling.

Nailed it. As soon as those episodes started airing I walked away from the series. I'm sure there are some gems still but those kind of episodes are like nails on chalkboard to me.

One of my favorite shows currently on tv. Genes great, but Louise is fantastic. Love her character. The great thing about the show is how the jokes fly so fast it takes me a second viewing to catch all the jokes.

Yea the shows a bit different since the first season, but it's been consistently funny for me.

The last episode was fantastic. Nat and Louise should hang out more lol.

After Family Guy, Simpsons, and South Park all going to shit, Bob's Burgers is the only animated sitcom I still find funny. Tina probably being my favorite character.

Gene is probably my most disliked character, even from season 1. Some of his one liners are amazing, but most are less than good.

What episodes are those? I haven't watched it in a year or so, and don't remember any really non-canonical Halloween episodes or anything.
I think the poster is talking about the episodes where the kids each tell a story about what happened.( The Frond Files, The Gayle Tales,Sliding Bobs ,Mom, Lies and Videotapes.) All their holiday episodes are very grounded this is more comparable to Simpsons Bible Stories or Tall Tales than Tree House of Horror.

I been trying to get into it since it went on netflix.. I couldnt. I think it might be cause of the voices. I like bob and louise but the others are like marge but 10x worse.

I've been catching up on the few episodes I've missed over the years, as well as plowing through the rest because my kids love the show (and I don't blame them).

I haven't experienced any huge drops in quality through what they've put out, which is pretty impressive. I mean, there are some duds here and there but it's a nicely grounded show and rarely meanspirited, which is a nice change of pace from a lot of television.

If anything, the only aspect of the show that bothers me is how many other characters are voiced by the regular voice actors. Jocelyn in particular, but Jimmy Jr. is basically just Bob with marbles in his mouth.

I adore the show, did when it started and still do now. The only show that has been as good as The Simpsons was at its peak.

When I first saw it the art and some of the voices were grating for me, but eventually I got used to it and it's definitely one of my favorite shows now.

I find the quality extremely solid throughout. IMO they do a few too many movie parody episodes that don't really land for me (like Die Hard, there's just been way too many Die Hard parodies). But those aren't that common and overall the show is just pitch perfect.

I used to watch Archer so Bob's voice was a bit weird to get used to coming out of Bob instead of Archer, but I appreciate Bob's Burger's humor a lot more as time has gone on, while Archer's I've soured on.

I can only tolerate so much of Gene. His random, spastic outbursts and esoteric, referential humor gets a bit grating at times. He can just be too annoying.

Tina is great. She steals the show. Just the perfect amount of awkward without being insufferable.

The show would be better if the got rid of the son.

See. Someone else agrees. And it happens to be NinjaScooter. Enough said.
