Man, Ian putting his foot down during the GOTY deliberation was amazing. Seriously saved a bunch of time.

That reaction video was gold.

I was watching Ben's reactions to it on his stream and was super disappointed in how chat responded to it with the typical "lol dumb nintendo" nonsense. I mean, I can only imagine the number of creative-minded heads that exploded when they saw this thing and realized the kind of potential it has. As someone who's done some work in the STEM/STEAM realm of education, this is very cool. I doubt they'll buy in right now, since it does look like it's mostly just fun mini-games, but I suspect Nintendo and others will begin to release kits that are more focused on things like programming and design. I'm very excited to see what people come up with now.

I'm just getting around to watch the GOTY deliberations now, and as much as I love Ben and I truly do, he's fantastic in most ways, sometimes I just hate how much he plugs Japanese games constantly. I don't even know if he is doing it on purpose, but if there is a Japanese game on the list, it always feels like he will pick that one game over anything else.

I don't know, maybe I'm way off. But it seriously comes off that way at times in these choices he makes for awards.

They were the better games this year especially and the games they're making speak to Ben. He was also the one repping Divinity Original Sin, the most Western of Western RPGs ever so I honestly have no earthly idea how you came to this.

One out of how many categories? He's gone for so many Japanese games in nearly every award, come on son lol

Just looked at my list and 8 out of 10 games are from Japan. Seems like a weird thing to hate as well, it's like hating Jones for preferring open world games.

Generally Japanese games have different design sensibilities that people enjoy. I don't see how it's any different than anyone else's preferences.

any chance we could get the goty discussion in a audio format for podcast listening? didn't catch it, and I'm assuming they don't rely on visuals all that much? would love to be able to listen over the course of a few commutes.

You make it seem like he's looking at the nominees and picking out the games that are japanese. In reality he's picking out the games that he likes and those games happen to be japanese. He was also the biggest fan of wolfenstein 2 and divinity 2. Pubg was a game that got more respect from the allies than I expected and Ben was a big part of that to.

Easy allies as a whole I would say prefers japanese games to American ones but that's a good thing in my opinion. Having a variety of opinions in the gaming space of a good thing. If every outlet only liked western games I would get bored of video game coverage so quickly.

Pointing at no one in particular, but making this a western/japanese distinction in this discussion in the first place comes off as weird. weeeeird you might say. What is the contentious/interesting point that could be made here that is implied to be negative? But yeah people just wanna point out, lol right.

Sorry your fav game got snubbed, find a better way to frame your disappointment.

That's a very good point, and mostly everyone else's too about him repping PUBG and Wolf 2. I'm further in now (it's 7 hours long lol) and taking my previous comment back more and more as time goes on.

Where did I ever say that? I said he was picking a lot more Japanese games over any other type, that's it.

I am not sure, but what is a "Japanese gametype"? There are Japanese games in almost all the same genres that there are "Western Games". It's the same as saying that an "Indie game" is a genre.
That they come from Japan or not shouldn't make any difference. I understand that Japanese RPGs are usually different than Western RPGs, but they are RPGs just the same as Baldurs Gate or Skyrim or whatever else imo.

edit:
Btw, nothing wrong with not liking most Japanese games, but that doesn't mean other people can't enjoy them.

Goty stuff coming out as a podcast?
I don't know what you mean by that, but if you mean an audio only version, I don't think so.
You can try to rip it to mp3 or something and listen it that way.

Edit:
I can try to rip it to mp3 for you if you want, but I want to make sure if EZA is ok with me uploading this on the internet (Bloodworth ?). I would probably share it somewhere with a password on it for 2 weeks or something, but still.

Damiani suggesting they move Labo a year back because they don't have Netflix or cloud saves is funny.

What's your personal interest level for FighterZ? Have you tried out the beta?

The game is surprisingly easy to pick up and you can do cool looking stuff no matter the level you play at. I'm a scrub and I'm having a blast.

Thank you, I'll make time for the video if they're not planning audio.

Quick post since I've been without internet during the last weeks, helping my parents move to other state:

TSC Don't Skip happened and it's great. Love ya, Ben :)
Last QA and Frame Trap were too fun and saved me from another ~15ish hour car trip.
Huber, please stop saying Injustice 2 revolutionized single player content for fighting games or whatever :V

Now to actually catch up with gaming news and EZA content!

I just want to fight against a scrub like myself. Instead, I'm instantly put into matches where I'm inside a combo the entire freaking time and I just close the application. It's not fun when I don't even have time to learn shit.

Well final game will have training and a Ranked mode that makes sense to put time into so that problem will most likely be alleviated.

Though a simple tip: if someone is on the ground, block low ALWAYS. Block high if they jump. Just do that and you'll get your opportunity to strike back. That's a general fighting game thing, not just DBFZ. Otherwise if you went through the tutorial and you do that, you should be in a better place and have more fun with the game.

Watched enough deliberations to say:
holy crap, the Danganronpa franchise probably has the most overlooked (overheard?) OSTs of the industry or something
best shotgun and huber's eyesight lmao
BEST MENU HAHAHAH, 10/10

THIS IS THE BEST THING

I was disappointed to see it get no love from even Ben during the deliberations! The DRV3 soundtrack is something I listened to in its entirety over 5 times last year, and I still listen to it on most days; Masafumi Takada is fucking excellent and absolutely one of my favorite composers. I've never even played the No More Heroes games, but years and years ago, before I even made the connection that it was the same composer, I listened to select tracks from the NMH2 soundtrack for a bit.

I've gushed about DRV3's soundtrack in so many threads, lol. I'm more passionate about it than I am P5's, and that's something I never, ever expected to happen.

DBZ Japanese music>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>DBZ English music

The only part where it is better is with Gohan vs Cell final Kamehameha.

So the Japanese version has that over the English version.
