Well looks like my NES Classic is borked. Thought I'd check out some NES games so I broke my NES Classic out of storage and fire it up. I found it convenient to just remove the cable from the back of my SNES and plug them into my NES. Big Mistake, since I was using USB Host Mod on my SNES I ended up hooking the USB Drive to my NES. No big deal I just removed the thumb drive. Except now my NES constantly freezes and loses power. I've tried everything to fix it. Uninstalling Hakchi and flashing the original kernel does nothing to stop it from freezing and losing power. In fact it doesn't look like there's anyway Hakchi can fix this. Guess my only recourse now is to see if Nintendo can repair it or find a new one. :___:

Do you have it connected to a socket in the wall? If not, then do so and try again.

well I fixed it. Seems there was an issue with the HDMI passthrough on Xbox One. Plugged the HDMI directly into the TV and no more issues. Strange because running the HDMI through Xbox wasn't a problem previously but oh well

I'm not sure if anyone else is really using the "Switch-style" icons with their SNES Classics anymore, but I still really like them!

A co-worker asked me to modify his system to add a bunch of games for other systems. I decided to go the extra mile and make "Switch-style" icons for each and every game I added. I'm not too familiar with some of the systems like the Atari 2600, so a bunch of these games were taken from "best of" lists I found scattered around the internet.

All of these have been added to my Google Drive folder full of similar icons from various sources (under the "Other Systems" sub-folder).

Imgur Albums:
And I added a few more SNES games too:

I'm trying to run some old MSX games like "Spirits", "Colt 36" or "Taipai" but they won't load with fMSX... and other like Metal Gear or MrChin yes... and I have instaled all the msx bios... the games are from an old spanish developer called Topo Soft.

If anyone running an MSX emulator got them to work please tell me how to do it.
Need more information.

Are you running DSK or ROM format games?

Information about FMSX as I added some capability to the emulator.
http://forums.libretro.com/t/lakka-2-0-msx-msx2-bios-file-put-in-which-directory/10503

You might have better luck with the MSX MANIA collection which was curated by a Spanish guy https://www.msx.org/es/forum/debate...-software/msx-mania-listado-individual?page=1

I have instaled fmsx.hmod and placed the MSX.ROM MSX2.ROM MSX2EXT.ROM MSX2P.ROM and MSX2PEXT.ROM BIOS files in /etc/libretro/system/

just noticed all the MSX games that got working are in .rom and the ones that doesn't work are in .dsk

Is there any other MSX emulator for the snes mini that run games in .dsk?? thks

So in the continuing Pilotwings saga:

Played through the entire game successfully with and without save states - no area 8 arch glitches. Seems like there is some kind trigger when using passwords if you haven't successfully reached the stage yourself (ie using a password off the internet for a stage you haven't reached in game)??

If you fail a stage, go back to the home screen, and continue, everything works fine.

I'd put a little addendum in the spreadsheet that as long as you use savestates that the game plays flawlessly.

Thanks much for peeps help!

Its been however long since the game was released since i played pilot wings, but does the game naturally give you passwords as you go? And if so, using those passwords as you would naturally without skipping stages works fine? If so then I say we call it punishment for cheaters......

Game doesn't save to sram so how it would it know whether you earned a password or not through normal play? Hell, why even use passwords if the game had save memory of any kind?

Use these hmods: https://github.com/KMFDManic/NESC-SNESC-Modifications/releases

FMSX does run dsk images. You've likely got bad dsk images if yours don't work.

Unlike ROMs (read only by definition) disk images are a minefield due to their writable, changable nature. The MSX MANIA disks are a verified good set, so I recommend seeking them out.

If you'd rather not use verified good disks, for whatever reason, then you might try dsk2rom http://home.kabelfoon.nl/~vincentd/

There's a new custom fork of Hakchi2 available (from Reddit user princess_daphie) that adds a lot of nice UI features:
https://github.com/daPhie79/hakchi2/releases/tag/v20180115.14

Some of the features:
  • Original games can be added to the list like a normal game, so you can add custom boxart or change titles. It still uses links to the original files, so it does not take up significantly more space.
  • The export games feature (Shift + click Synchronize) from DanTheMan827's build is included.
  • Box art can be compressed when adding images.
  • Thumbnail images can be changed from Hakchi2.

i may or may not have added mario land 2 DX (gameboy) to this, and it works, problem is the very bottom of the screen is cut off, ruining the HUD. possible to fix?

also possible to make Y and B be the main gameboy buttons instead of B and A? or no?

edit: thanks ginger, didn't know about that menu!

Press start and select to open the RetroArch menu and then: video options, and hotkeys.

RetroArch options are a minefield so watch out in there. You can press start on a single option to return it to its default value.

So as far as restoring a SNES Mini, if we cut the first/original back-up we made to a different location, wouldn't any subsequent back-up made be of the hacked state, right?

are there any other cool gb/gba hacks I should be aware of? super Mario land 2 DX was quite the surprise to me and is really nice. perhaps something similar for Metroid 2, or anything in general that would play well on the big screen?

If by 'without kernel' you mean the ORIGINAL one, then no you can't.

Hey Robin, Mario fun with numbers is listed as not working, but it works for me with an sfrom made with the latest sfrom tool. Booted it and played through a couple of the games on it, seemed ok to me.

Robin, Mario's Time Machine has issues. The mushrooms you need to collect to time travel become invisible during the surfing segments.

Also, Power Rangers fighting edition is listed as working but actually has severe graphics issues once you get into a fight

Mine wouldn't get past the title screen (no-intro, hakchi made), so I'll try .sfrom tool and see if that makes a difference.

Cheers.

The other sheet says Separation Anxiety crashes at the first boss battle (horribly glitched graphics), and Animated Series has graphic issues in the menu. Can you confirm?

Yep I read that and wanted to double check, played up to the first boss several times with both characters. Beat him even and went to the next level, no problems.

With the MARIO fun with numbers thing, I wonder how many of the games with issues might be due to the different roms floating around (goodtools, no-intro, etc). Even within goodtools, you can have an older set where the [!] rom isn't necessarily the [!] in the newest set.

I always thought this was normal and one of the reasons Mario's Time Machine is laughed at? I've seen it mentioned so many times in the past.

http://www.somethingawful.com/rom-pit/mariotimemachine/

https://youtu.be/26SbSMwKNBk?t=8m59s

Not normal. I played the physical game back then and it doesn't happen (it would be a pretty stupid thing to program in too). It does happen on emulation though, but not on Higan.

Try it yourself on a PC. Boot the game, press L/R to open the time machine, select a date and press A. You'll be taken to the surf minigame. On higan (or BSNES) you'll see the mushrooms don't disappear.
