Just announced in the Gundam Game New Year Festival 2018 - 16th Jan '18 Livestream

This morning (or this evening in Japan) Bandai Namco revealed during a livestream 'New Gundam Breaker' the next entry in the Gundam Breaker series. Previously, Gundam Breaker 3 was released in March 2016 for PS4 and PSVita. This New Gundam Breaker is being built in Unreal Engine 4 and seems to be a PS4 Exclusive (going by the logo on the end screen showing 2018).

They also announced during this livestream that additional information and likely more footage of the game will be shown during a broadcast on January 28th at 5pm JST (Japan Time).

You can find more information at the games official website: http://gb.ggame.jp/
And on their twitter page: https://twitter.com/gundambreaker

Crossing fingers for a western release. Probably won't happen, but man, it'd be nice to not have to have an SEA PSN account to get DLC.

This makes me VERY happy. Loved Gundam Breaker 3 enough to buy it three times so definitely day one here.

So Bamco went for console exclusive. Well we may be able to expect a bit of graphical overhaul then.

The "New" name really leads me to believe we might see an NA release of this.
I dunno, it feels kinda placeholdery. Maybe they're not sure if they want to go with Breaker 4 or a subtitle, especially if they're doing an NA release.

That said, if they're doing an NA release and the game's running on UE4... Bandai has near zero excuse for not making a PC port, especially when they're porting over a lot of their other UE4 games.

No portable version whatsoever? wtf. Such a disappointment. :(
I dunno, the amount of stuff they throw at you and some of the destructability in these games would probably do a number on the Switch's CPU, never mind the GPU.

That said, maybe they'll make a late port, but it depends on what they're doing in the game itself.

It does seem to be PS4 only but as they're building this on Unreal Engine 4, porting it to Switch or PC should be a possibility but unlikely at initial release as they're focusing on PS4.
I really hope so.
I can understand them dropping the Vita version since the system is at the end of it's life. Well, way past it actually.
But not even a Switch version to compensate is such a baffling decision. :-/

I wouldn't be surprised if Bamco is using SD Gundam G Gen as a "test" on the Switch, so if that does well enough then perhaps this will show up there down the road as well.

Lolololol. That naming sense is Nintendo level quality.
I'd be surprised if that is its final title. I'd bet that we'll see an official title such as Gundam Breaker 4, being announced later this month at their next broadcast.

That seems about right but SD Gundam is a totally different gameplay style to Breaker so if SD Gundam doesn't do well, I can imagine Breaker still doing well due to its 3D Action focus.

They've already been doing them on Vita for years. A bit disappointing personally.

Nice :D. I really need to get a second Vita that I can just leave set on my Singapore PSN account. Account switching even with multiple memory cards is a real pain in the ass.
Tell me about it.
I've got a PAL Vita with a 64GB card for my European digital Vita games, then a Pal Vita with a 64GB card for all my European PSone/PSP games. A Japanese one with a 64GB card for all my Japanese Vita, PSP, PSone download games. (And then 3 spare 2000 Japanese models in case one breaks and I can't find any new ones in the shop any longer)
It's quite a mess like that.
Sony deciding that a Vita is a system that only need 1 account per system since it's something personal and people should just buy more Vita's if someone else wants to play in your family was such dumb reasoning.
And even more dumber that they never ended up fixing it either. :-/

So surprising that Nintendo of all people ended up having the perfect setup for import games, both physical and digital.
Really hope they stick with it from now on.

Yeah, the trailer alone being mostly in English certainly was a good tip-off. As well as not using Gundam Breaker 4.
Chances of this hitting the west are 90% if you ask me.

Bandai namco europe tweet the video. Maybe it will release in the west

Fingers crossed, the quicker we get it over here the better because I've stumbled around in the Menu's of far too many Gundam games before the English Sub versions came out. (I can't read Japanese but I'm what I'd call an Intermediate speaker of the language)

Nice! 3 was so much fun but I don't have a SEA account to get any of the dlc. Hopefully it comes to the west

Ah man, I love the concept, gotta agree with the disappointment on the lack of portable announcement... yet at least. Maybe something will happen if there's an NA announcement

There is a NA announcement, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYNQLo9zzKc is from the North american Bandai namco account. This game is coming here, and sadly looks like it wont be on any portable. (Sadly for those whom play it on portables*)

Was the stream just Breaker or did anything new from Battle Operation get shown?
They announced new DLC for Battle Operation NEXT (the 2015 PS3/PS4 game) and that DLC is a new MS - Strike Freedom. They also announced a bunch of DLC for Gundam Versus and the Nintendo Switch port of SD Gundam G Generation Genesis.
This is the moment they show Strike Freedom for Battle Operation - https://youtu.be/PxBp0ovhvck?t=3099 (51:39)

Here's my entire recap from the other thread:
Recap of Gundam Game New Year Festival 2018 - 16th Jan '18 Livestream

They begin with announcing a few things about the stream and reveal that there are 4 major talking points/reveals they are going to talk about.

GUNDAM VERSUS

New DLC, including 6 new MS coming to the game and lots of new background music too. Some of the new Mobile Suits include G Gundam/Burning Gundam and Master Gundam - both from G Gundam. As well as Build Strike Gundam from Gundam Build Fighters.

SD GUNDAM G GENERATION GENESIS

Port of the game coming to Nintendo Switch on 26th April 2018. New DLC for the game is also coming. If you pre-order the game you get a downloadable version of the Super Famicom game Super Gachapon World: SD Gundam X.

GUNDAM BATTLE OPERATION NEXT

Start by talking about Gundam Battle Operation NEXT, originally released in 2015 for PS3 and PS4. New DLC is the Strike Freedom, available from 18th Jan.

NEW GUNDAM BREAKER

2018 - Running on Unreal Engine 4.

You can rewatch/skip through the entire stream here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxBp0ovhvck

How crazy would it be if there's release parity or close to it world wide? It at the very least looks like we'll get the JP and US/EU release in the same year (2018) for once! The fact we're even getting it over here at all is a miracle, I can't wait!

I mean, it wouldn't be the only possible late switch release if we made our voices heard, Namco been saying that for nearly every game they've released XD
Whenever someone says portable i associate the vita with it, didnt even think of the switch.... maybe a release will happen once all the dlc is out or something, wouldnt be a bad game for the console.

The only way it could be crazier is if there's a PC version that comes out with day and date parity for the US/EU console version.

I never got around grabbing Gundam Breaker 3 for whatever reason, so I'm super excited that they announced a new one. Hopefully it will at least see an English release in Southeast Asia!
