I didn't listen to most of the other OSTs which are praised this year (I have only seen 15 minutes of Nier at a friends place), but I really love the Persona 5 OST. I imported it on CD although I usually rarely listen to OSTs and I have listened to it quite a bit. The only other OST I own is Ni No Kuni, but that one I maybe played once of twice.

From what I have heard there are some good contenders this year for best soundtrack, but I don't see why Persona 5 shouldn't be a possible winner (that said, although I didn't really heard them yet, I am sure Nier and Zelda have great soundtracks as well and I wouldn't mind if one of those win instead).

Eh, I liked Zelda's soundtrack a lot and it's easily my GOTY, but I'd be really disappointed if that won over Nier (or Persona 5)

Bosman's problems with game audio makes me wonder if his speaker volume is just set too loud and he never bothers to adjust it or something.

I was just trying to remember other nominees of the Game Awards as I didn't really hear any of the other Soundtracks people talk about. I don't own a Switch and none of my friends do. I suspect it will be either Nier or Persona from what I hear.

edit: Or maybe cuphead. I have only played it for a short amount of time at a friends place as well, but I have seen some streams of parts of cuphead and that soundtrack was good as well (and fitted the game very well).

Kyle just doesn't seem to like more tense types of music. I have watched quite a lot of Bosman v Wozniac and he almost always disliked the more uptempo/sinister tracks (or stuff with "metal drums" (his own words, I still don't know what that means)).

Someone put together an hour of BotW's music that's worth listening to. It's quite a departure overall from past Zelda OSTs, but it fits in well with the world they created.

I can see how that stuff might stress someone out, although I personally associate that kind of music with getting hyped.

I know when I play N++ and there's some intense platforming happening I much prefer the slower tempo tracks than the fast ones.

It's funny last week I had been playing persona 5 so much that when I was at work the OST would just play in my head using the similar songs that would cover the " mundane " activities like going to school, going to work, etc. it fit pretty well

Now if Mario or Zelda won best OST I would be upset.

Persona 5 has a very good OST, with some incredible tracks -- similar to those two games. Sonic Mania has a wonderful OST as well. I just think Nier: Automata and Xenoblade 2 are head and shoulders above the field.

Was wondering if they'll possibly end up regretting the 2017 pick like they do the 2016 pick, but I feel like there are just so many scenarios where pretty much everyone will be content with the outcome due to how great last year was for games.

Also, Nier will definitely win Best OST, but my personal pick is either Persona 5 or Danganronpa V3. Masafumi Takada especially deserves more love as a composer.

It's netcode and people being unsure about it's blocking and character switching may or may not hold it back.

Actually, if it is beyond aesthetics, it might be an interesting conversation. Otherwise, it'll just be a quick clash between Persona and Gravity Rush.

Here's what I want the goals to be.

Get rid of Trailer Jones. They could always bring the show back eventually.

$45,000 - Hire a full-time editor
$47,500 - New Bosman opinion show (which would be made much more possible with the addition of the editor)
$50,000 - Studio, which suddenly doesn't look so far off.

Audio is all subjective. Especially music, but also foley, sound design, dialogue editing and even how an overall audio mix was done for a game, film, television show etc. One man's trash is another man's treasure in a lot of cases.

What does "Best thing you got in a loot box" mean?

Something one of the Allies ACTUALLY got from a loot box or something that can be got from a loot box? Are these loot boxes earned in game or have they been bought? SO MANY QUESTIONS!

I hope Little Nightmares gets a little mention somewhere along the line. Nice game that most people seemed to have forgotten about.

It was actually a really good promotional video, hopefully they can do a more simple one for their group streams or special events too, just as a reminder as some others users suggested.

As I said on another post before it is obvious Zeldaa is winning, but I hope Nier or Yakuza are in the top 5, they do deserve it. Can't wait for tomorrow tho...

My previous persona game I finished was 3 years ago. Given how long they are persona 4 had a number starts but didn't get far before other games showed up.

Great game and a noticeable step up from 3 which had great moments but they hadn't refined the formula. Outside the style, music, dungeons and improved QOL features what really ties this game together and has it rise above most is the cast. It's one of my favorite JRPG parties ever. Especially all the fun banter, people always joking on others, etc. I also think being able to play this in Japanese made me enjoy it more. I think the dub they had was great but it helps me get more invested in the game with the Japanese voices given the overall hook of the game.

Wait, you've only finished Persona 3 and 5? You gave up on the best one?! You monster.

P4G is so good. Better party, better story, better banter, better town, better localisation and way less filler. It's so much better than P5, the only downside are the generic dungeons.

I live in fear of Huber constantly trying to roadblock Persona 5 into winning every category. Like, if he starts championing Ryuji for best character, I'mma close the stream. Worst character in the game.

There is always some intense platforming happening when you are playing N++ :)
I love that series (I am also not the best at it, but I don't completely suck at it either). I also really love that soundtrack (even though those are not the genres I usually listen to), although I don't like every track on there.

But yeah, I can see where you are coming from (although I always felt that those hectic tracks fitted with the game in this case). I should really revisit N++ now that it has even more levels with the free update on PS4.

I mean, I don't feel like it is the worst charcter in the game (but certainly not the best either), so I agree that Ryuji certainly shouldn't win best character. But I would be surprised if Huber doesn't have other characters higher in his favourite list (even though Ryuji is more or less Huber in some ways).

While I love Persona 5 and it is my GOTY, I am not convinced any of those characters should win Best Character to be honest. I have seen and heard enough of the other games to know that there are much more beloved characters in other games (Nier, Horizon Zero Dawn and Hellblade for example).

Also I wouldn't be surprised if Huber goes for Kiryu for Best Character.

Regarding menus, there was something about Nier: Automata which I thought was really cool. It's a major spoiler, so I'll spoiler it.

In route D, if you're not too overleveled, and you fight A2 exclusively with hacking, you navigate through and eventually go on to destroy her through her menu system. I'm sad that I missed this in my own playthrough. This game is bonkers.

It has a pretty simple menu system, but I love that since the characters are androids, it represents their own systems menu and does some pretty clever stuff with it.
