I don't like the cutesy term for analysis as "The old analysis machine" or the skits they sometimes do in front of videos, and really dislike their cartoon avatars because they look so smug.

Otherwise they seem like good people and I generally enjoy their content.

Also they have a really bad habit of yelling into microphones, which is terrible if anyone wears headphones. I swear my right ear is still ringing from a Mega Man video they did last week where one of them got overexcited

So in other words, you don't like fun :P

I actually appreciate the generally playful attitude from GameXplain's crew as it balances out the depth of their content.

When you have a lot of information parse through, it's a lot easier to do so if it's presented in a way that engages both the left and right sides of the brain :)

The brawlout review confirmed my fears about the game, will skip unless it's $5 or less. Should have gone all the way and made the whole roster indie characters kinda like that pogo indie smash clone.

I'm not against skits in general, just think theirs are poorly done and (and I'm using this term knowing it is a bit over used to the point of meaninglessness) cringey. But really that's a short enough part of all their videos it doesn't bother me too much. But what really does bother me is their tendency to yell into microphones at unexpected times. If you gotta yell please normalize the audio so there isn't an unexpected burst in your listeners ears.

My comment about you not liking fun was just a bit of tongue-in-cheek humor. You're well within your right to have your own opinion about the channel and its content. Well just have to agree to disagree :)

I dunno man, a lot of people are saying I sound like a British Andre. For all you I'm completely made up and Andre's just putting on a voice. Have you ever seen us together?

No, but I'm pretty sure that you guys live in very different time zones :P

Anyway, I'll echo everyone else's sentiments on the internet and say that your voice is awesome. You should definitely think about doing some voice work for documentaries or something.

Its cool. Its kind of Nintendoey to me. Watching an analysis video is like watching a saturday morning cartoon sometimes. Theres a bunch of other channels like digital foundry or something that has your more "adult tone"

Oh yeah, Andre just confirmed they have a 5 hour long Year in Review discussion coming up. I've been aching for a long and good discussion for a while now.

Lol has someone actually said that? I don't hear it tbh, your voice sounds like a radio presenter's, whereas Andre's sounds like ...... well his voice is just very unique!

I haven't seen that one, but it's funny that you mention that because I'm literally watching the friendcode episode with Ash Paulson as a guest right now.

You honestly don't think Andre has played more than 5 games this year?
This is the same guy who put a phone game and a game he only thought was "good" in his top three games of last year because he played so few games. So yes, I think it's possible. Especially based on the games he reviewed plus what he talked about on Real Talk. Of the big Switch games he only seemed to be really into BotW, ARMS, Rabbids, and Mario. And I don't recall him talking about the 3DS much outside of Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga. Though maybe some smaller indie game titles will be his saving grace considering he seemed to like Stardew Valley. But overall, that's not too much, and again, he seemed to only have played less than 5 console games last year so I'm saying it would not surprise me.

Also for Andre's goty it'll come down to if they count stardew valley since it's technically a year old.

Ash is honestly the biggest ? For me since Derek's goty will clearly be Xenoblade 2 and Andre's will be Odyssey. I will guess if he managed to finish nier automata it would be his goty, but since he likely won't finish it in time my guess is it'll be sonic mania (betting favorite).

It's definitely between Mania and BotW for Ash, but I'm leaning on the latter for sure.

My guesses for their top three:

Ash
1. Breath of the Wild
2. Sonic Mania
3. Horizon Zero Dawn
Honorable Mention: Mario Odyssey, Steamworld Dig 2

Andre
1. Mario Odyssey
2. Stardew Valley (or BotW if it doesn't count)
3. Breath of the Wild (or Mario + Rabbids if Stardew Valley doesn't count)

Derrick
1. Xenoblade Chronicles 2
2. Breath of the Wild
3. Persona 5
Honorable Mentions: Sonic Mania, Metroid Samus Returns (I could see this replacing Persona)

I don't think Derrick has played enough of Persona 5 to rank it in his top 3
Maybe. That's mostly why I put what I did about Metroid. If he can't get far enough by their discussion then he won't place it, but it's possible that he can get pretty close to finishing it since that's what he's been playing for the past few weeks and they're done reviewing major titles for the rest of the year.

Last I remember he was two dungeons away from beating the game, so if their discussion is next week and he has nothing else to play, beating it should be really simple.

I'm liking their new format for GOTY Awards. I also like how they're doing top 5 and not just top three. I'll have to change my predictions a bit.

I had a few places flipped (completely forgot Derrick played Re7 too), but most of these were spot on.

Can't wait for the follow up year in review and looking forward to 2018.

Just want to say, GameXplain is killing it this year with their year-end content. 3 hours of goty 2017 videos and 3 hours of year-in-review. Awesome. Especially during the year-end content drought for many creators.

No kidding, there's been a ton of content recently. I've been away on vacation for two weeks, and now I've got hours of GOTY and year review discussions to catch up on. And hours of podcasts on top of that. I'm really looking forward to diving into it all when I get home tomorrow!

I discovered them back when I was hunting out every scrap of LoZ Wii U info I could. Their analysis of BotW trailers, photos, footage andanything else remotely noteworthy was astonishing. I watched them over and over for months in anticipation of the game.

Loved their Odyssey coverage too. Their ability to pick out even the most minute of details and recall obscure information to compare is extraordinary.

My fiancee was using their Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon coverage earlier this year haha. This was around when I first started speaking with Andre and I suddenly heard his voice coming from the other room...

Oh, are we doing "how we discovered Gamexplain" posts now?

I discovered them while looking for content on Smash 4. Their detailed discussions about Smash 4 was just what I was looking for. And I've stuck around ever since.

The tale of how I discovered GameXplain is a dark one.

It all started when I came across Andre's review of Kid Icarus Uprising where he merely thought the game was "OK" instead of the best thing since buttered bagels with cinnamon on top.

My vision blurred and turned red with rage.

It was at that moment where I swore to get revenge. Not only for me, but for Pit and Lady Palutena.

As any reasonable human being would do in that moment, I devised an intricate plan where I would self-style myself as a huge GameXplain fan. I would voraciously consume every video they put out, hype them up on messageboards — even one day start the OT for them on ERA, the only OT I've ever made.

This is all part of a long con where I'll earn Andre's trust and get him to open up about his deepest darkest fears, and then concoct an elaborate SAW-style dungeon full of his worst fears, in which I'll trap him until he agrees to do a revised Kid Icarus Uprising review.

The dungeon would probably be filled with copies of Mario Sunshine, I imagine.

I think I first came across them when searching for stuff about "Monolithsoft's new Wii U game" and their analysis of the reveal trailer popped up.
