I popped Gravity Rush 2 in last night just to jump around and fly for a bit. One of the best games to jump back in and mess around post game ending. Love that game.

Edit: soundtrack for the top of the page.

Yuuuuppp. I enjoyed the game for what it was but that game was a frickin mess when it comes to handling mental illness.

I really liked some of the
tricks at the end like having to delete files in order to progress the story. I'm sure other games have done similar things but I don't play games on pc very often so I'm not used to them.

I think I would have enjoyed it more for what it was if I wasn't so put off by the writing. I physically face palmed at some moments. I do recognise that it does some interesting things, but since my experience at that point was overwhelmingly negative, it didn't impress me much. To get more into specifics:

The deleting characters thing isn't something I've come across in another game, but I felt other games did the fourth wall breaking thing without being too overbearing about it. The glitches and stuff were pretty cringeworthy for me. I won't say which game I'm thinking of since that would be a spoiler, but it's one that's really well received. I thought the way the game breaks the fourth wall was implemented more thoughtfully there. It has that element of a character knowing that they're in a game, and calling you out on specific choices that you as the real world player made, e.g. reloading a save after making a terrible mistake.

Yeah it's the way it dealt with mental illness which I found so tasteless. I liked it when Sayori opened up about her depression at first, but then the game uses her suicide as a shock tactic to make you feel unsettled. It's presented in a really creepy way, rather than it just being a tragedy. I went on to do Yuri's route, and well, things spiraled down even more from there. I was pretty shocked at how badly self harm was handled in that route. It had as much tact as a bull in a china shop.

It's a free game thankfully, so I just moved on to something else after scratching my head for a bit.

Hey there. Does anyone know which specific podcast did Jones say "I'm enjoying these mictrotransactions" for the first time? I tried asking /r/uneasyalliance but they are also seeking to find this episode.
I am almost positive the game he's talking about is Let It Die, probably from a late 2016/early 2017 episode (game released beginning of december)

I remember the conversation, I don't even think he was talking about himself but more Ian buying some Death Metals and EZA fans writing in talking about it

Something along the lines of "I am spending money on this, not because I have to, but because I want to. I am enjoying these micro transactions"

Gravity Rush 2 is awesome, unfortunately I never got to finish it. Too many other games took priority

Truth be told, I had more fun flying around finding treasure chests than playing the actual story missions. Still, a delightful game I'd revisit eventually.

Gravity rush 2 was a lot of fun. It has its weak moments in the stealth missions but what I love the most about it was they knew what they were. They knew they were fortunate to get a big budget sequel and didn't waste it. Not only in the gameplay but most importantly in the story. They wrap up all the open ended stuff from the first game and give fans a great sendoff. Not many games do that these days

Legit speaking: Gorogoa deserves a major nomination in best music. It's audible tapestry is just god damn out there yet also inviting:

Gorogoa is only around two hours unless you get stuck. I watched Ian's stream, and regretted not experiencing it for myself the first time. It's a fantastic game.

We probably have no idea what games the allies have been catching up on for goty, have we?

I know Damiani has been doing Persona 5. But thats all I know. I think I remember Bosman talking about doing Yakuza 0 over the break a while ago.

My YakuzaGotY-spirit is already broken. It will end up with a HM and a silly category specifically designed to praise Majima and then will get tossed aside. *breaks down crying*

If anybody of the Allies will utter the phrase "This has been an amazing year for games. It is crazy that Yakuza 0 GETS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING" I loose all hope for the future of mankind.

Bloods playing persona 5, cuphead and pubg (Xbox version.) Hubers playing pubg for review. That's all I can remember of the top of my head.

I hope blood finds some time for nier: automata. If you just wanted to blast through that game you could probably clear all of the story in about 30 hours. That's skipping every side quest (which are very good!) but if it means more allies playing nier than I'm all for it. Ben mentioned on frametrap that he was surprised at how many of the allies bounces off of nier and I gotta agree with him here. The game seems like a sure-fire contender for allies goty when I played it.

No matter who wins what awards, Tuesday is going to be an awesome night celebrating the greatest year of games ever!!!

There were a lot of solid OSTs last year... but, Nier and Xenoblade 2 are clearly the best, IMO. Just on another level, not just in consideration for OST of the year but for best game OSTs of all time.

Release the Xenoblade 2 OST already, nintendo. For the love of God, these awful youtube rips are appreciated, but they are the mighty no 9 to the eventual OST's megaman 11

(As for why 2's OST is better than xenoblade 1's... the good tracks are just as good, and the bad tracks... what are bad tracks? XB1 had some duds, but this time the whole OST is great. I can't imagine how much they cut to do this)

I really haven't been feeling the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 OST so far.

It also should get the award for worst in-game map.

Fun easy update. The editing really makes the epsiode work.

I also appreciate the series because it captures the moment we all had where we're stuck on a puzzle and our thought process to solve it keeps getting more and more absurd and complex. Then you go and read what you're supposed to do and go "oh". And Kyle was at a bigger disadvantage than Huber since Ian wasn't there watching it play out. Props to Kyle and Huber to play along.

I'd like to see another one down the line with another ally

I've mentioned this to Jones a few times and he's recognized it and agreed.

Make a 30 second youtube video that goes out to all your YT subscribers giving them a heads up that you're doing something big on twitch.

Nothing for E3. Nothing for Huber full playthroughs. Nothing for any of the group streams, specifically hall of greats. Gonna go ahead and assume nothing for their GOTY deliberations.

Because honestly, that kind of notification works for me. I check youtube all the time, seeing what new stuff is on my subs. And for instance, Robingaming, always puts up a video when he is going live on twitch, and it makes me go to twitch and watch.

Seems like the final friday of January is going to be a good one. Fiasconauts and a Gundam building stream in addition to MHW and DBF.

Excellent tip for the Allies. A lot of streamers do this.

Another great EZ Update.

No disrespect at all to Ian's friends who I'm sure are lovely people who I'd probably get along with, but the best Easy Updates are Ally focused. I hope he does more of these Torture Chambers or something akin to it. I know his time is limited and Easy Update often becomes just a document of what he did that week that wasn't editing work, but yeah. More Allies, please. When possible. No pressure. Do what you want. Don't listen to me.

I think I'm halfway there with you. For the awards, big group marathons, Easy Livin' and E3, promos make sense. I'm on the fence about Hall of Greats, but I think that doing them for weekly group streams and such would be seen as spam by a lot of people. We do have a promo planned for the awards, btw.

I know for me personally, I would HUGELY appreciate promos before streams, because I'm a huge Youtube watcher and not big into Twitch at all, so I ALWAYS miss the weekly streams. I forget about it until I happen to pull up this thread and see a post about it either after the stream is over or close to it.

I agree 100%, including the part of being on the fence for HoG.

I do think a Hall of Greats promo that doubled as a recap would work pretty well, though that'd obviously take some effort to produce.

Ouch...The Friendcode SD card misplaced. Hope they find it, was looking forward to the Direct talk.

Damiani mentioned this lost FC wouldn't have Direct talk. He gave it until a certain time for Nintendo to announce it & they didn't, so there won't be any specifics.

This weeks podcast should have the Direct as a big topic.

You can always watch it on Easy Allies Plays afterwards. If you subscribe to that channel, you get it in your subbox.
You can also check easyallies.com and check out their schedule or put their schedule on your Calendar (there is a link for Google Calendar, but those also work in Thunderbird for example).

I honestly am not sure everybody will be happy with a constant stream of promos + it will be a lot of extra work to make those. As the allies are with a lot of people who tend to stream, there will be a lot of notifications. The big difference with other streamers imo is that they are usually alone, so they stream maybe every weekend or something, but I am somewhat afraid the EZA youtube channel will quickly fill up with promos for every stream they do and it will make it more difficuly to find "the real" content for people who are just browsing the channel.

It wouldn't be a "constant stream", it would only be for the big events as suggested, so E3, GOTY's and the like.

somehow maximilian dood has a promo vid on youtube for when he's live on twitch
literally just a stock 30 second video that he puts up when he's streaming and deletes when he's done.
