Serial killer Kat.

She gets a certain satisfaction from killing innocent bystanders.
She's a fucking sociopath
Just like a real cat.
It all makes sense now.

How do you guys feel about Kat's heels? I've always wondered this. I see people complaining how women in heels in video games makes for such a bad design since fighting in heels is really dumb, but I've never seen anyone complain about Kat's heels. Is it because she's not sexualized?

I've seen people complain about it before on the old forum, albeit not in the OTs itself. Usually it'll be a thread about designs in general, rather than specifically calling out Kat. Can't say I'm a fan myself, especially considering that you'd think that she of all people would want to avoid wearing heels considering her powers let her gravity slide and what not. But it definitely helps that the game (for the most part, aside from certain DLC costumes...) doesn't really come off as trying to get me to see her in that way.

It's still pretty dumb though.

As a woman that knows how it feels like to wear heels, I always find heels in these kind of action/fighting games super impractical and silly, but Kat's design isn't really over the top so it doesn't register for me most of the time.

I had a treasure hint two days ago that only showed the floor and ropes of one of the Lei Elgona ships. I thought: oh, cool, this rope pattern must be somewhat unique, so that's what I must base my search on.

I look around and I see every ship has ropes in that pattern.
Lei Elgona is the worst place for treasure hunts.

Online service extended? Phew, that means I don't have to rush through everything in a week. That just means I have to rush all the FF14 content I haven't touched yet to get back to playing this and finishing it

I honestly never noticed she's wearing heels. At least the game doesn't draw attention to them and I guess you can make an argument for her kicks hitting harder because of the spikey heels? It doesn't bother me, but for the sake of practicality I would've gone with slippers or ballerina-like shoes. Reinforce them with thicker soles and you have an excellent mix between feet protections (mostly the soles) for all your running and sliding needs, while retaining grip and control for ease of navigation.

Heels in combat are nonsense. No exceptions for me. I tolerate it here because I just like the game enough to. I complained about it plenty (old place, particularly GR Vita) and even though Kat isn't often sexualised like a lot of other female main heroines from Japanese games there are still some here and there that raises an eyebrow a little.
Some of the alternate costumes don't have heels. I do like the red dress with the heels even though its impractical. Sometimes I change to it when flying around or doing races in the air. I mostly use her working costume which she wears sandals though is barefoot in the artworks.
I think I didn't want to bring the heels complaint here because it felt a little like dragging in some old fights from the old place. I came into GR2 fully expecting Kat to be in heels again so there wasn't really that same disappointment as the first time as I was already prepared for it. Kat is great character with a lot of weird quirks though so impractical heels kind of just gets collected into the list of her oddities.

Kat strikes me as a character that would wear impractical clothing without really considering the consequences that could have while she's in combat.

Honestly, I don't think there are any consequences for wearing heels in the world of Gravity Rush. Kat can slide up the sides of uneven surfaces and kick her way through metal walls. I think it's safe to assume that her powers create some kind of force field between her and her surroundings. Otherwise, heels would be the least of her concerns.

Yeah, that's the best costume. She is barefoot in the opening section where you escape, and in all of the cutscenes after that in Banga right until you play as her again. I kinda liked barefoot Kat a bit more but I guess the developers didn't want to redo all of the different footstep sounds in the game just because one costume allows you to be barefoot.

The heels in her default outfit did strike me as an odd choice at some point while I was playing, but it only took me a few seconds to accept it, move on and completely forget about it. Kat's outfit may be impractical, but at least it's better than Raven's.

Ugh, I think I've had enough of the first game. Played for about four hours last night and after an hour tonight I had enough. Game makes me sick with the constantly flipping camera and the challenges just make me feel like I'm terrible at the game.

Some challenges aren't meant to be done until you get better upgrades. They're pretty much impossible without them.

Are you using the motion controls? I didn't like that at all. Recommend turning it off. It takes a little while to adjust to playing these games as the movement is so different from everything else. Sometimes you just need to fall up and hover a moment to orientate yourself before choosing a way to attack.
If it makes you feel unwell then that is a shame. The game may not be for you. There is definitely a lot of camera movement as you fly around and gravity shifts. The movement is a huge, probably the most important part of the games.

I agree with these. I sort of like that casual feel with the bare feet.

Raven is a good character with awful design. Even Nier Automata's A2 design looked better imo.
Here is an art piece with a swap over.

Combat is the only part of the game that I think I'm good at, haha. Getting around and being timed constantly though? Just terrible.

Easier later as you upgrade your speed and energy. You can shift, kick then release your gravity and re-engage it to continue with a full energy gauge because it recharges a lot faster later. Hit some challenges as you go but don't be too concerned for 1st until later. They are "challenges" afterall and many will go back near end of the game to tackle them.

If you're having issues with a treasure hunt: quit and reenter it. Seeing that tip saved me a decent amount of time on some nearly impossible ones, since I'd end up getting placed closer to it.

Anyway, uh, I finished the entire story from chapter 18 on tonight in one sitting (skipping side missions for the first time to do it). I really enjoyed the game up until now, but that was a way, way stronger ending than I expected! What a pleasant surprise. You can tell the entire game's pacing is a mess because they were trying to fit in too much into the one sequel they had, but in the end, I guess it all worked out well!

And most importantly, it completely avoided one of my biggest issues with 1's story that I was really afraid of ruining 2, since it popped up in earlier chapters: not knowing when to let cutscenes go on instead of jarringly cutting to dialogue. 1's ending was full of this and it really killed cool moments when you'd do a cool attack in a cutscene on a boss and... suddenly everything, including the music, would cut to dialogue and still images. 2 still has some moments where characters don't get enough time to let their reactions sink in before it cuts like that, but it was pretty rare and totally gone by the end, and I'm super thankful for that.

Fun facts about Gravity Rush.

-Gravity Rush was originally a PS3 game titled Gravitè
-Crackdown was the most influential game to Toyama and his team during the creation of Gravity Rush
-Jean "Moebius" Giraud was a key influence for Gravity Rush. His work, like The Incal, heavily inspired the game.

Best superhero.
I wonder if we'd have comic book cutscenes if it on was on the PS3.

Yeah I could see the Moebius influence pretty much straight away whilst playing the first one, so that doesn't really surprise me.

Does anyone else struggle with the rocket jump? I could do it but never consistently.

That's like the only way I've found to get gems though. How am I supposed to upgrade without doing them?

Try looking underneath the cities. There's TONS hiding there throughout the game.

Mainly just go searching for them. They're hidden all around the city to collect. Also just focus on getting bronze for the challenges for now, which'll still get you a good amount of gems, also silver for some of the easier ones.

Main missions will also start giving you a lot of gems later on.

re: Spirit of a Man side-quest... Toyama, who hurt you. (The running and the fake-outs are just... why. Whyyyy.)
