Nah just use the main road lol, you should come upon goron town
Relative to the crater it's on the southwest of death mountain

Maybe it's cuz I'm a little sleepy+combination of me wanting this dang game to end already, but I am not enjoying the Camel Gundam puzzles very much :(

In regards to your last question, I suppose it's a bit of both. I'm assuming the Goron town is somewhere around Death Mountain, so I've been navigating all around the mountain in a combination of trying to find the town and simply exploring for Korok seeds and other goodies.

I figured that the town might be closer to the summit, so I started climbing the back of Death Mountain. I used a Fireproof Elixer, stripped off all of my clothes, and equipped a Great Frostblade, but Link still caught fire. Maybe I shouldn't be climbing the northern face of the mountain?

My bad, the ice weapons may not help with fire but heat exhaustion (which is something you encounter in the desert). Have you come across the stable at the bottom of the mountain in the Akkala region? I'm assuming you have since you have fireproof elixir. If you follow the road there, it will take you to the place you're looking for. If it makes you feel any better, I also got really lost looking for it. :P

Thanks for the help! By the way, I love your avatar! I started playing Pyre earlier this week and I'm really enjoying it so far.

Finally playing this again on the Switch and so far I'm really enjoying my no fast travel run, it feels good just running around and exploring everything naturally.

...The 12th picture in the album is just a freaking forest
How the fuck am I supposed to distinguish it from every other green forest I've been in?

Anyways, this one last picture, speak with Impa then head into the castle to end this. Will beat the game tomorrow.

40ish hours completion time. At least 20 of them involved running around this big ass map like a clueless idiot with an agenda. Would've settled for a much smaller compact hub-like world or some shit.

Hum... I'm not enjoying my Master Mode playthrough. Do I have a serious case of "git gud", or does the combination of regenerating health, breakable weapons and tougher enemies make some encounters a huge waste of time and ressources?
Frankly, I'm this close to just abandoning and just start a new "normal" playthrough from scratch.
On the one hand, I was looking for a new challenge, as the base game gets ridiculously easy midway, but on the other hand Master Mode is throwing at me ridiculously tedious challenges. I am half-wondering if I shouldn't just make a beeline for some good weapons at Hyrule Castle and get the hell out of there in order to have a few good things allowing me to tackle some encounters (if I don't fall under the "Too awesome to use" trope thereafter with my new equipment, that is).

I just started playing on the Switch and I just noticed that there seems to be no way to protect my save from my youngest son. It would be as simple as him choosing new game to delete my progress it seems, I cant password protect my profile and I can't make backups of the save. Is there any way to back it up or otherwise protect it that I'm unaware of?
We bought the Switch for my youngest (nearly 5) for Christmas because he loves Mario and my wife surprised me with BotW for it but now I'm wondering how I'll possibly manage to make it through this long game without losing the save to some random button presses.

Buy another Switch :V Or just explain to him about the game and its save mechanic.

You should give up it is really tedious and ruins trials of the sword

Do you think he'd be able to identify and play on his own account if you made one for him? You don't even need a Nintendo ID to make an account unless you want to play online.

Oh wait I keep forgetting about this. If it is anything like the PS4 and PS3, each account will have its own save data. So if he logs into his account he should have his own save data right?

He has his own profile and he'll understand me telling him what not to do but just getting started in a game thing long makes me cringe at the thought of a simple mistake by him.

Yep. Sucks that Switch doesn't allow password protected accounts, though, but I don't think any portable consoles do.

Got my stamina meter maxed. Found the two shrines extremely high up at Dueling Peaks. I'm still only at 89 shrines. I feel like I've searched everywhere (except Gerudo Desert) but I'm still missing 8 in the open.

I have one question: Without spoiling too much, if you discount shrines how much "game" is there still to do after killing the 4 beasts? How close to the end am I?

Anything after the 4 beasts is side quests and collecting, the main game continues after Ganon so I wouldn't necessarily avoid going to him. You can definitely burn out on the game if you just attempt to do shrine after shrine.

I can't get over how brilliantly the Zelda team designed leaving the Great Plateau. You can jump off or climb off, but clearly the game wants you to jump and glide off the Great Plateau. The game even gently nudges you to jump off the side towards Hyrule Castle. But the game lets you jump off in any direction and depending on which side you choose you will make different discoveries and potentially have very different experiences. The game promises that no matter what side you jump off. you will experience something interesting and fun. For some people they jump off and don't meet another human until 10 hours into their playthrough. Other people may meet people within 30 seconds of leaving the tutorial area. And the game really doesn't care one way or the other. It's brilliant.

Started my third playthrough of this game, this time in master mode. I think it's safe to say that for me it might be my favorite game of all time. I can't stop playing it, seeing that lynel in the plateau was so exciting lol

Welp just beat the game.
The final boss/endgame was a let down imo, but eh it didn't bother me much since some of my fav. games have a weak endgame.

I'm sad to say I did not enjoy this game as much as I was hoping. I see why a few have given this a 6 or 7 out of 10 score and I'm leaning towards that with BOTW. I like the puzzle-y dungeons and guardians but everything else about it didn't do anything for me.
To be fair I do like viewing the scenery or vistas from high elevations and the like, but I feel this could've been achieved without the need for a big empty world.

BOTW ranks currently as my least fav. LoZ game, but will aim to play the other series over time.

Also I have no idea wtf is the deal with Calamity Ganon, why's he so pissed at everyone for? I mean I heard the LoZ series are interconnected having a continuity, but in this game, for a first timer Ganon is just some evil force, that's evil just because.

Ganon's characterisation always was pretty weak in all Zelda games, really. The only notable exception is Wind Waker (making it de facto the best Ganon by far; and arguably the best Zelda too. And Link. And music... That game was amazing). Frankly, Calamity Ganon is just a version of Ganon who has long gone mad from imprisonment. I think his reincarnation was botched? Really can't remember.

I would appreciate a new Ganon with better characterisation. Breath of the Wild broke away from Zelda's old gameplay conventions. Let's hope that the next one will give us something new and interesting for Ganon. As much as the gameplay embraced a change, the characters need that too.

You know what the next LoZ game should do?
Make Zelda the protagonist if not a protagonist you can play as aside from Link. Also no more big ass open world, make it compact or something. Stick to the puzzle-y dungeon goodness please!

So I take it that Calamity Ganon 'makes more sense' if one had played through the earlier LoZ games? Well either way, looking at now, BOTW's story was kinda weak, but that's a minor thing to me.

Since you only played for around 40 hours, I'm wondering if you found some of the more interesting secrets and side quests in the game.

So...what do I do about that?

After 120 hours in my normal file, I started playing master mode last night. The difficulty difference is kinda crazy. Took me a while just to be able to beat a bokoblin. Still stoked to have an excuse to play more of this game, though. I love it.

I've now put just over 100 hours into this game and its DLC. So good. Still have two Beasts and Ganon and a handful of shrines and a shitload of Koroks.

What the fucking what the fuck?

I go to a blue mark I made because I think I saw a shrine there or something, I climb the tall ass mountain to find a Korok seed (*dull yay*), I look around to see if I can spot a shrine and I SEE A FREAKIN' FLYING SNAKE DRAGON
WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT THING? WHY IS IT THERE? HOW DO YOU EXPECT ME TO KILL THIS FUCKER? AM I SUPPOSED TO TALK TO IT? RIDE ON IT? The fuck man....
There's 3 of them...

You can't kill them because they're the goddesses of Hyrule, or rather they're named after them so obviously they're the physical representation of them in the game (My theory I assume) and their names are Naydra (Naru), Farosh (Farore) and Dinrall (Din). Naydra will need to be rescued from Ganon's infection which is easy as it's not so much a fight.

They can be shot with arrows and will drop materials that you need for some quests. Depending on where you shoot them you get a Scale, Claw, Fang or shard of Horn. This is more difficult than you'd think. The scale is easy because the body is long. But the rest require more precision which is made harder since they shoot off energy balls to stop you.

They also have their own spawning areas. The green one is the easiest as she's near the jungle lake bridge. She spawns at the highest waterfall and flies off. Some only spawn at night. There are schedules.

If you're at the right spot you can just sleep til morning and the dragons will still spawn. Works for fire and thunder dragon. Ice dragon is always the most annoying to farm.

Speaking of the dragons, there's nothing better than hearing that heavenly music as one gets closer. It always feels special.

Such as? I sadly couldn't be arsed to explore further because the map was exhausting to explore even with Rivali's Super Jump :/

Stuff like From the Ground Up, the Lord of the Mountain, Eventide Island, the mazes, certain shrine quests which involve doing things in the overworld.

That's related to the town building right? Reading up on it, I don't think it would be a side quest that interests me, then again it seems to be a method to get the Hylian Shield? Eh my laser reflecting shield got the job done well enough :P Still with how big the open world map was and how it turned me off, I avoided doing lots of side quests.

Lord of the Mountain
YO WHAT THAT'S WHAT THAT GLOW WAS ALL ABOUT?! I did find him actually but he ran away when I approached him XD.
I don't like mounts in this game buuuuuut since I read about shooting arrows at the glowing rabbits I may have ended up flinging an arrow at him :V Not that major a loss but all them rupees.

Eventide
Uh isn't that a lot of effort for just 1 shrine? I mean yeah the treasures'd be nice but honestly my early experience with treasure boxes and such just didn't motivate me enough to try and beat it. I'd HEARD of it in other threads but I just didn't feel like doing any further side stuff once I was at the last village :/

Mazes
The 3 mazes that give you athe attack power armor would've been more fun if the walls weren't so damned high I needed items or 2 stamina wheels to climb them :V I did finish them though.

Overworld objective shrines
Just checking but are you talking about the Goron shrine that required me to climb his damned pillar? Cuz screw that, as much as I enjoy climbing, climbing but with a TIME limit or restrictions is not my idea of fun. Plus the jerk wants me to spend 20 Rupees per attempt.
RUPEES DON'T GROW ON TREES YA KNOW. THE STUFF I SELL FOR THEM DOES, BUT I GOT BETTER USE FOR MY RUPEES!

Another one I remember was in the Gerudo desert and this soldier wouldn't get off the teleport activation panel because they were thirsty. Reading up on the quest, it came off as a fetch quest to me and I ain't tolerating that shit in this game.

Dude you're not supposed to climb the walls of the mazes thats why they're so high
The climbing minigame really isn't that hard, there's a harder version that is really hard though. And it pays off shit for how hard it is really.

The quest to unlock that desert shrine actually is more than just a fetch quest

But I get a better view from up top to try and find the entrance path :P I've been running around like a clueless hobo long enough in this game that doing it in a maze just did not appeal to me.
The shrine I mentioned is the Misae Shuma shrine.
Reading up on how to solve it, it involves me getting a block of ice for the shop keeper. Even though the ice block can be obtained from a northern area of the Gerudo map, it's still a fetch quest: Bring Ice Block, get thing.

Ganon's character is a bit weird for this game because if you pay attention to the background stuff, you realise that incident where it's explained how they built the divine beasts and the guardians to help beat back Ganon - who was already Calamity Ganon then - seemingly means he had already degraded into a mindless mess of hatred 10,000 years ago (with every other game in the franchise taking place prior to that), and the translations apparently differ on whether or not he could be anything but such afterwards. Of course Nintendo can always throw on a retcon - honestly since they established this idea of there being a 'cycle', a lot of the plots in Zelda games have involved someone messing with it - but that might imply future games may have to technically take place if they want a Ganon who does anything but stomp around and make other bad guys do stuff.

As a first timer to the LoZ games with this one, I've kinda assumed that he was someone who helped create the Divine Beasts and Guardians, wanted to take over the world using them, but was overthrown. It would explain how easily he took over them 100,000 years later; gave him enough time for whatever anti-virus that was in them to go kaput and then he can enslave them :P

For some reason I envision a future LoZ game taking place in like a modern/dystopian real world setting with Ganon being this evil corporate overlord and Zelda having to stop him cuz he killed Link or some shit.
You can still have the dungeons and what not, just in some kind of dystopian/modern setting, theme or some such.
Just a silly idea that popped in my head :V

Oh, he's meant to be a well established threat in the 'ten thousand years ago' backstory. It's just that apparently he grew so powerful, and rather than have to deal with him as regularly as they used to, the Hylians both commissioned an army of robots, but also ensured he was sealed away a looooooong time. They expected him, and they dealt with him.

Most likely the general explanation for how Ganon took control of said robots now is, aside of 'dark magic' or whatever, is the fact he knew it was coming. Rhoam stuck to the template that his ancestors had provided for him, and since Ganon had already been beaten by that once, the latter knew that there was great big army he could take over to make this whole thing easier, so long as he got in before Hyrule was completely prepared. He did.

Tarry Town was fun to do and it does open a couple side quests. I liked it. The reward is 3 diamonds, or $1500 if you will. The only hard part for me was figuring out who he wanted me to find. I ended up looking the last two up.

I've attempted Eventide twice and failed after the first sphere.

I got the Goron climbing shrine on the second attempt I think.

Have you been to Hateno Village yet? There's something you can do about that there.

You can also always cook yourself extra temporary hearts.

One can manage through much of the game with just 1 extra Stamina circle, so expending 20 Spirit Orbs for an extra bar is enough. Give the rest to your Hearts. Cook food that give you yellow hearts, I dunno how many ingredients you can find early on that can give you that but just mix 5 of it and soldier on.
Looking back on it, 4 Spirit Orbs for an upgrade just feels too much, and the Stamnia chunks only giving you 1/5th feels like a rip off.

Looking up some more vids, the game has some neat gameplay mechanics. Though I don't see why on Earth a small hot pepper being ignited on fire will cause an updraft O_o Like OK burning wood or grass, causing it, Okie dokie, but small stuff doing it? Whacko.

Just wish that
A) The map wasn't so big
b) They gave you a better method of traversing on land. Like a Hoverboard. A Pink Sheikah Hoverboard. That didn't run out of fuel/energy. Where you can speed across the grassy fields, the snowy mountain paths, the rocky terrains, and when you approached enemies you'd do a Rivali's Gale or a super jump ad then time freezes as you land headshots~

Have you been to Hateno Village yet? There's something you can do about that there.

You can also always cook yourself extra temporary hearts.

I've quickly passed through Hateno during the main quest (that's where the Tech Lab is right?), I'm with the Zora people now trying to kill my first divine beast and getting my ass handed to me by that red Lion looking thing on the mountain. Maybe I'll go back.

I was gonna look into cooking but I really can't be assed to waste too much time with that kind of stuff. I should probably look up some recipe that gives me a nice boost without requiring me to go hunt for tons of rare ingredients.

It's not as hard as you think. Do it, it's worth it.

If not, there is someone/something in Hateno Village (near the entrance) that can help you out, but it costs money. Just search around near the entrance of Hateno well and you can't miss it.

You aren't supposed to fight him this early in the game or if ur underleveled
The npc even mentions that
If u do wannt take him down u could do the following-
Headshot, then approach it and u can then start whackong him to death

I mean the game told me to go fight the divine beasts so I'm not exactly jumping ahead of things or anything. It's the main quest isn't it?
