Lmao. My reaction except it was a silver Lynel.

You can't. Bit if you shoot different parts of their bodies, you get special drops.

So you're telling me I need to waste all my stamina and stamina recovery items just so I can give them a manicure for my benefit?
I've never used stamina items for a dragon except on my first encounter with one where
I had to free Naydra from the curse, but that was because it was very early on in my playthrough and it was more lengthy than just hitting it with a single arrow.

It isn't necessary unless you want to upgrade certain outfits, though.

I thought ancient arrows meant no loot ?
For lynel farming, shoot the head to stun then mount em with your highest dmg weapon

Hey man this Atk power armor may look ugly but I welcome the bonus dmg, so it's getting buffed one way or the other.

Beat the Champion's Ballad on my Master Mode playthrough the other day. The motorcycle is amazing. I love just charging and bowling over guardians with it.

I might slowly revisit my master mode file from time to time now and try to clean it all up. The Master Trials are pretty tough and I want to eventually get through those.

Aight so here's the plan
Take down the sorry excuse for an Imperial WalkerCamel Gundam
Go clear up as many Shrines as possible
Kill the big monster enemies
Get the remaining memories
Maybe finish a few more side quests
Shove the Master Sword up Ganon's ass. Again.

How do the Trials work? Lets say I fail a few times and break a bunch of weapons. Do I have to go out in the wild to farm new weapons? That would be a pain... Or is it like the island where you start with nothing?

What trials ?
If you're talking about sword trials (DLC1) you're naked, it's similar to eventide islant
If you're talking about DLC2 on the plateau you only have one weapon that can't break

I meant the DLC1 trials. I didn't know there were trials in DLC2 too. Thanks for clearing that up. I just watched a few reviews and I am sure I'll get the DLC. This looks like a lot of fun and I still can't get enough of BotW. More content sounds great.

Yeah so sword trials have you start naked with just your runes and you have to get weapons and not waste them because the amount is rather limited
As long as you're not playing in master mode it's manageable

The Sign of the Shadow 'quest' is odd
I keep flinging arrows at the sun while on the platform but the shrine doesn't come out. I am flinging at 3 PM

Is it true the Blood Moon is determined by how many enemies you kill?????
Yeah it's a mix of monsters killed and time since last blood moon

The platform lights up when you can shoot at the sun, the window is also rather long

I know
I've been flinging 10 arrows but it doesn't lift up.

EDIT2: Yeah I don't like this Yiga hideout section.

EDIT: I completely forgot you can fucking WHISTLE in this game. This stealth section is stupidly out of place in this game, despite how short it is.
At least the boss fight at the end was fun.

OK, so I'm about 6 hours in and have a few questions.

- How do I quickly switch my bow/arrows without having to open up my inventory? Clicking up on the D-Pad opens up the Runes, clicking right on the D-Pad opens up weapons, but there doesn't seem to be any way to easily and quickly switch my bows and arrows.
- Does the game place a limit on how many shrines you can do early on in the game? I just arrived at Kakariko Village, and am thinking about just focusing on farming shrines to boost my stats - but I don't want to waste my time doing so if the game places a cap on this early on, ie putting shrines in unaccessible locations based on my limited stamina or surrounding them with high level mobs that I can't take down.
- Are rupees worthless? If not, what should I be spending it on, and what would be the best way to obtain more rupees quickly?
- I was able to tame a horse and ride it, but how do I summon it wherever I am? Don't I need a saddle?

Hold ZR to switch between bows/arrows on the left and right d-pad. There's no limit on how many shrines you can do, the world is your oyster. Rupees are definitely not worthless, you need them for certain items that will be sorely needed to progress through certain areas. There are ways around this, but getting these items is the smoothest way to move forward. I recommend selling your precious stones to gain money quickly. They can be easily farmed later on as you open up more of your map. Selling cooked meats is also a good way to earn money. You need to take horses to stables in order to register them. o/

- press the now button + d-pad for bow or arrow switching

- some will have tough enemies or weather to make it harder but theres a ton you can do without trouble. "Test of strength" shrines can be very tough in the early game though

- rupees are very useful to buy stuff, gear and gear upgrades. Best way to farm is selling gems like sapphires and diamonds

- take it to a stable and NPCs will explain all you need to know

Hey guys, I need help! How on earth do I traverse Death Mountain? I brewed a Fireproof Elixer but it oddly does nothing against the heat. Is there some secret that I'm not privy to?

Also, I just got to the Lost Woods. Do I need a special item in order to get through the maze? Just a simple yes or no would suffice. Thanks!

This happened a couple of days ago and I'm kinda amazed and baffled that the systems work this far (and at how this could possibly happen). Props to my girlfriend for breaking the game (a second time).

Hi

I just got the Royal Guard Set and the DLC Quest won't complete. It says I'm missing a chest but I've got both pieces. Anyone knows what I could do?

Edit: my mistake, it was three pieces.

This game is just not clicking with me, and it's the weirdest thing. Like, I can see that it's high quality. A lot of thought and creativity have gone into all these systems. It feels like a Half-Life 2 level game-changer in regards to the way physics are implemented into the genre. The aesthetics are very charming.

I just...don't feel the desire to see what's over the next hill. I keep trying to get engaged in the game, and every time, I put it down after half an hour and go do something else.

Oh does slamming weapons damage them more or not? I was never sure on that, even after 400+ hours.

Like if I do a spinning attack with an axe does the spin hit effect the weapon less than a slam would?

PS. This fucking game tonight. Gonna have to post some vids of this shit. How is this game so good?

...haven't noticed this. Is it true?

So what about slamming weapons? Does that damage them more than regular hits or not?

-----

So I played for like 2hrs tonight and was recording clips almost the whole time. This fucking game. This was just the beginning as soon as I turned my Switch on tonight.

There is a *ton* more.

There are two levels of fire/heat/cold in the game. Death Mountain (near the top) is hotter than the areas around the bottom. You're not in the right area yet if even the Fireproof elixir is doing nothing. What you need is another item or piece of clothing to help protect you from burning (aka two items of clothing OR one clothing item and the elixir protects you from the secondary level of fire - equipping an ice weapon also acts as a layer of fire protection). Are you trying to find a settlement? Or just generally exploring?

No, you don't need a special item for the Lost Woods.

I am a little perplexed.......

Ok, so I am only a few hours in, but what in particular makes this game so good?, I haven't played a Zelda game since the original gameboy.

The game has just chucked me into the world with very little idea of what's going on, I know I've got to go to these shrines, two of which I have done, but the other two are in cold areas that sap my health, the game says I need to cook food, but how what and where?

Am I missing something here?

He moves around the plateau and has a shack
Right, so I've got to find him then I guess.

Is the rest of the game like this?, is it primarily an exploration game?, it's not like I need hand holding, but a nudge in the right direction stops me from wondering around aimlessly not knowing what to do.

Unless things pick up a bit, this might not be the game for me............

Kinda ? You have a main quest to give you a path to follow but you can go wherever you want pretty much, and every part of the world has some stuff to discover

The game doesn't really hold your hand. You won't get waypoints or little dots on your map telling you where all your points of interest are. You see something? You figure out how to get to it. That doesn't mean the game doesn't tell you what you need to know, you just need to do a bit of experimenting to figure it out at times. Exploration is one of its strengths, so if you don't enjoy any of the things I mentioned, then it may not click for you. I would at least try to go to the first settlement in the game before giving up, though.

I'll give it a bit more time, I don't know what I was expecting, but it hasn't grabbed me.

I started playing again and finally got my Champion's Tunic fully upgraded. I stopped playing before because I was frustrated trying to farm dragon parts. I finally realized they're time based and instead of waiting for so long to just come back when it's a certain time.

So, I'm like 40-ish hours into this game and have just been exploring the map, doing shrines, and hitting the memories. I've enjoyed that a lot. But, I don't even remember what I'm *supposed* to be doing narratively.

My thing is, I don't really enjoy the combat in this game at all. I feel like the risk/reward is never worth it for what I'm enjoying doing. I feel like I'm routinely getting wrecked by random encounters I have with pretty baseline enemies (skeleton dudes at night, or a random dude on a horse rolls up and starts hitting me with arrows), and any time I stop and fight I'm just trashing my weapons and getting worse weapons back in return. Should I just ignore the story and keep doing the exploration thing until I've had my fill? If I legitimately don't like the combat, is there any point going forward to do the dungeons and stuff?

I'm sure part of my problem is not spending time getting used to the combat and trying to get better, but there's a lot of other stuff in the game I'd rather do, and it's really easy to avoid combat all together.

Have you been upgrading your armor ? That should help
Better weapons come with more playtime, I can't remember how weapons "upgrade" naturally but it's probably a mix of dungeons completed and number of blood moons

You should do dungeons as they come really

I've upgraded some things at the fairy fountains here and there, but I haven't dove very deep into any of that stuff because I don't know much about it. I have a lot of money and resources in my inventory because I haven't spent much on anything. Does the world as a whole keep parity with you weapons wise? I was just in the starting area last night looking for something and all those guys are still running around with the basic clubs. I have a handful of weapons that are taking up slots solely because they're a good way to regulate my temperature in hot and cold areas, haha.

Maybe I'll start trying to get back to the main thrust of the game and try to get on track with some of that upgrading.

In regards to your last question, I suppose it's a bit of both. I'm assuming the Goron town is somewhere around Death Mountain, so I've been navigating all around the mountain in a combination of trying to find the town and simply exploring for Korok seeds and other goodies.

I figured that the town might be closer to the summit, so I started climbing the back of Death Mountain. I used a Fireproof Elixer, stripped off all of my clothes, and equipped a Great Frostblade, but Link still caught fire. Maybe I shouldn't be climbing the northern face of the mountain?
