You know, and this isn't necessarily directed to you but I really feel people who gas up the older SNK fighters not named KOF aren't going to actually buy them if they do go on with new installments. Hell no one seems to have bought the only official releases of V Special and TLB2

We DOA now? I don't know if Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite just drove my expectations into the ground, but I think the graphics look pretty good. However, I am concerned about the possibility of excessive pandering.

She didn't turn out to be the "Korean Athena" that Eolith wanted, but I don't think she was a total wash (even if she did inadvertently commit the cardinal sin of replacing King in the original KOF2002).
Either way, her VA passed away in 2011, which pretty much made it a non-issue for her getting into XII/XIII, no matter what...

I feel like those games did well, otherwise SNK wouldn't have bothered after LB2.
They must have been ultra cheap to develop
Holy cow this thread is the biggest disparity I've seen on reset era for how people like it or not. Half the people are saying HELL YEAH, the other half are saying THIS LOOKS AWFUL. I personally think it looks pretty cool, new fighting games are okay with me any day. Especially by SNK.
Every single change they made to Vanessa's design in KoF XIV was a mistake. However, I will still take that shittier version over not having her at all.

That Mai shot above shows a lot of improvement in their engine.
The lighting on the skin in general is much better and now the characters have a black outline 'drawn' around their models. Gives them an almost Shinkiro-like feel.
Could be but I don't think they would abandon a character for that long just because a VA passed away, had to be something else to it. Angel was MIA for well over a decade despite being pretty popular.

There was a thread less than a week ago praising SNK for their badass, functional, non-pandering female character designs. Now... This. XD

Those designs are disrespectful to the amazing designs SNK has provided for these characters for decades. Really not a fan.
Man, this took me completely by surprise. I've always wanted a sequel to Gal Fighters, but I really wanted something with less fanservice and more cartoon silliness like the original.
Were those ports any good? I know I've been burnt by SNK policy of romdump with a horrible emulator release before.
I'm not surprised old fans would rather stick to fightcade due to the track record, or if these were poor or didn't have online play etc.
As for this Heroine fighter, I personally have no desire to play, but it's actually cool to see how excited everyone here is for it.
I hope it finds its audience and does well. Hope it's also a fun single player and multi player experience for what it is.
I'm very interested in this, but I can't help but wish that it was coming to a system with a proper d-pad on its controller. Still, I'm hoping this is well-balanced and has some interesting hooks to it.

At least within the piles of pandering, there should be at least a few things that look cool. So we've got that at least.

The Code Mystics ports are terrific. The emulators that are terrible are the ones from dotemu

I mean, it's Mai tho. She's been pandering since KoF started. Wasn't as bad in Fatal Fury, but still apparent.

I have no idea who the girl with the "heart cross" could be. Also, next to Athena's right elbow is a girl with pointed ears, who could THAT possibly be? The only SNK girl with pointed ears that I know of is Mikoto (Shiki's daughter). Girl in the lower right is clearly Sylvie, but the girl in the lower left with the big skirt and shoes ALSO reminds me of Sylvie. Gah! Whatever new designs they're doing for these characters are really throwing off predictions.
