So I know another user in here had the same issue with the RavPower quick wireless charger. On amazon the charger indicates that it will flash a certain color when fast wireless charging versus normal charging. I emailed them or posted a review (i cant even remember) quite awhile ago. I just got an email from them offering me a full refund and a free power bank. They indicated the iPhone unlike the Samsung phones doesn't send a signal to alert the charger of what method of charging it is using, hence it doesn't change the light, but it indeed is quick wireless charging. Pretty good customer service though. I declined the refund as I am still using the product and I don't feel they owe me anything, and accepting the power bank :D

Woke up to a completely frozen iPhone (black screen, wouldn't turn on, etc).

FYI, the way to hard reset is:

Click volume up,
Click volume down,
Hold side button.

That fixed it, but I almost gave up cuz I was trying to hard reset it the old way.

I have the exact same one. It's supposed to change to blue once fully charged. Instead it permanently stays green once you place the iPhone on it. It doesn't bother me though, it charges fast enough, and it's very low profile, which I like.

so my battery life issues are back, pulled of the charger at 100% around 2am. Woke up at 9am and it was already down to 80%

no idea what is causing this apart from the latest update, very frustrating

I turned off true tone. Yeah, it makes everything look too yellow. I'll live without.

So I have this really dumb question. If Face ID is not working (due to my position, clothing or whatever else) how can I read my lockscreen notifications? If I unlock the screen with passcode by swiping to go home I'll go to the home screen... which I both don't want to, and it will automatically clear some notifications as far as I'm aware.

Also, groovy little bug:

I think if it's a big issue for you you might want to turn on the option to show notification previews without faceID. After FaceID fails you can pull up the notifications by sliding up on the screen, but it'll still be hidden until you unlock using your face

Your other option is to slide a notification and press view. That'll bring up the passcode and then take you back to your notifications after you close that one

I turned off true tone. Yeah, it makes everything look too yellow. I'll live without.

I found it to be too yellow when I did true tone and night shift. Now I do only true tone and love it

Loving it so far, sorry 5s... how do you close apps so they aren't in background? It seems like when you go home it doesn't close? Same with swiping up on apps like old way?

Got a tiny scratch on my X that's only noticeable in the perfect light and angle, but it makes me wonder if I should get a screen protector. I have Apple Care.

Stainless steel borders are near perfect holding up well taking a case on and off.

Swipe up from the bottom and hold in the middle of the screen for a second. Then press on the apps tabs for a second and a minus icon will appear. Lastly swipe up the app you want to close or tap the minus icon.

The adhesive from the screen protector should fill in any hairline scratches you have on the screen.

If you can live with it, I'd skip the screen protector. Tempered glass, even the most expensive ones, add a layer of glare/diffusion to the screen, which ruins contrast and perfect blacks in certain lighting situations. It's nit picky, but hard to not notice considering because of the notch.

I bought a glass screen protector. The highest rated on Amazon which is actually on sale for $3 today. Never put it on. They're just annoying and definitely detract from the user experience. You can feel the difference. Some people are ok with taking a hit on the quality experience of their phone. I will chance it for the a better day to day experience.

Am I crazy or did gmail update for the X but not put it in the patch notes? It was not set up for X until recently, right? Maybe I am thinking of a different google app.

I turned off "require attention" for Face ID, and it has literally made it a million times better. Still terribly inferior to a fingerprint scanner, but much better than before at least.

It updated a month or so after the X release. The patch notes did not mention the change to support the iPhone X though (at least not right away).

I really love the W1 chip that automatically syncs so quickly to my Apple devices, I bought a pair of Airpods but they weren't right for my ears so I had bought a pair of Beats Studio 3 headphones and they seem pretty good so far.

So I have an issue with my screen that started during the weekend. I have a dead zone that is basically a vertical line from top to bottom which doesn't respond to touch. Has anyone had this problem or heard of it before? I made an appointment to see a tech this weekend but wanted to ask ERA.

Are you using a screen protector?

Actually a couple weeks using it I actually am comfortable with and even like the separate pull downs for notifications and everything else.

Workflow looks sweet. Just grabbed it. Hopefully there are some other 'must have' workflows.
Hate to just say the names of them as I don't have my phone nearby right now but I have two that I use a ton.
Hopefully searching the names will bring them up in the gallery. I'll try and provide links later.

- "Photo Grid" - Merge photos together either horizontally or vertically.
- "Save Video From Safari" - copies the URL of whatever embedded video you're watching in Safari and downloads it to preferred video app.

Yeah, Workflow really depends on what you want to do with it and how much time you want to invest. I use it heavily in conjunction with scripts on my Raspberry Pi to extend its capabilities (i.e. blacklist websites in PiHole, scrape websites for stuff and return the info on the iPhone/iPad...).
One workflow that might be universally appreciated especially after Apple removed the wishlist feature is the one for AppShopper. Let's you wishlist apps from the share sheet and the service will send you an email when it drops in price. https://www.reddit.com/r/workflow/comments/6b8la0/appshopper_workflow/

The subreddit might be an interesting place in general to get an idea about the apps capabilities or inspiration: https://www.reddit.com/r/workflow/

I caved and got one of these. Looking for a case that doesn't suck ass. I never really used cases before but then again I've broken the screen on every iPhone I've ever had.

Apple leather or silicone (leather locks up a little lint on the front, silicone can pick up lint all over)

Caudabe lucid clear for a thin one

Ringke fusion for a clear which is still thin but provides more protection including front lip. Spigen hybrid ultra is another option in case you can't find a ringke - basically the same

Fire Emblem Heroes got updated with X support finally...but all they did was add big ugly borders to the top and bottom :(

While I'm at it, I downloaded the Crunchyroll app andtheir X support is pretty terrible too. The home bar doesn't fade when a video is playing and also blocks the seek bar. What trash.

Yeah I don't think that's on Crunchyroll. They use a custom player (I assume because of their sub needs) and the home bar is not under their control.

Having that notch unfortunately requires most apps and games are adjusted to incorporate it or work around it. Games like Unkilled are a mess and the WoW companion is all garbled and zoomed after months with no hope in sight.

The new splash screen for FE Heroes got me excited for a split second before I realised the rest of the game ran with those borders. And Pocket Camp & Mario Run are so well optimised…

Just started up my new iPhone X (Space Gray, 265 GB) and immediately checked the iOS version.
iOS 11.1.2.
Perfect. :D
I would have returned it for sure if it had come with iOS 11.2 as I have always used jailbroken iPhones.
Guess it's time to make the jump from my old iPhone 6. :)

Jealous. I got a iPhone X today and it's on 11.2 :(

Question: Can Plex on iOS play HEVC HDR files? I tried some but my PMS starts to transcode them to h264. Can't select direct play for some reason.
