No nintendo, so list is hella lopsided and very dull. I mean fucking David cage and a sotc remaster in the top ten makes 2018 look real anemic.

Praying for bayonetta 3 to save gaming in 2018

Not to pick on this post specifically, but what's with the sour grapes from some people? It's not ResetEra's fault Nintendo keeps things till the last minute. And if you look at that list and see "dull", then I can't help but feel sorry you have such narrow, limited tastes in gaming.

Glad to see some games we are publishing on that list! I backed up Bloodstained on Kickstarter and I am now working in the company that is publishing it! :D Good and busy times!

It's not just Nintendo that doesn't announce games early. For example, if Todd Howard is going to release Starfield or Elder Scrolls 6 this year (I doubt it but just giving an example), then Bethesda isn't going to announce it until it's like 5 months from release because that's how Bethesda does things. EA could also have Battlefield: Battle Royale coming out in 2018 and not show it until April.

So these lists can get slightly more Sony-heavy than GotY lists as Sony doesn't have many quick turnarounds compared to other publishers.

...But then again, it's just a hype list and not the most serious thing in the world, so it doesn't really matter.

Boring list. Should've waited until after the Direct but I understand why you didn't.

Not sure how to write this without sounding like a Sony hater. I assure you I'm not, and the PS4 is my main console. Not that the PS4 wouldn't have a lot of titles on that list, but potentially a reason why you see quite a few Sony titles compared to Microsoft/Nintendo is because they announce them so early. Some of their 2018 games were already announced in 2015 and 2016. Nintendo and Microsoft probably have quite a few AAA titles coming out this year that they haven't announced yet, especially Nintendo.
Respectfully disagree.

CD3 and SoT were announced before any of Sony's First Party Games releasing this year, excluding Dreams, which was revealed a few hours after those 2 games, and the only game SoD2 is ahead of is Dreams and Detroit. Dreams and Detroit are the only two announced in 2015. Ori is the only real example of a game with a shorter reveal to release, and that's assuming it hits 2018.

Don't see this announcing games early as an issue for the other 2 when one is a worst offender. Ninendo is a little better, but only if Pokemon and Metroid hit 2018, if not then they're falling in the same hole as Sony and MS with announcing and releasing too far apart from each other.

The only thing MS probably has that they haven't revealed is Halo 6 and FH4, which yeah, Halo 6 would make the top 20 so it's absence is big, and Pokemon and Metroid would hit Top 10, if not dominate at #1 and #2, so them not being there is also notable. Nintendo's Directs are the make or break in all of this, since they are more likely to have last minute games at a Direct, more than Sony or MS.

Good list but it is nowhere near last year's list
2017 will be remembered as a legendary year no doubt

If Spider-Man delivers and GoW is fun i can see this year tops or atleast be equal to last year.
RDR 2 is going to be revolutionize open world genre again. Except shit never seen before in video games.

Now I know why I don't really game anymore.
Not sure I could've named more than a few from top20 even coming here very often.

I thought we are getting Bad Company 3

I think this list is a reflection of what system has the largest user base on this forum and not much else. You can't really make blanket statements like ps4 is killing it or Xbox/switch is lagging when this list is just a popularity contest in a forum comprised mostly of ps4 owners.

I have no issues with the list whatsoever and I enjoy these threads. Some of you trying to find a deeper meaning are looking in the wrong place though.

Sorry, the list has spoken. PC gaming is dead.

I don't think it is that either. It is just a reflection of what games are the most anticipated. That is it.

What's the latest estimate for release of Bloodstained? If you can say.

Ehh, I love my video games and I felt 2017 was just as great as so many others did.
That top 20 list there to me is pretty anemic.

It's simple Sony has their 2018 announced.
That's not to say micro and Nintendo don't either tho
Microsoft
Sea of thieves
Crackdown 3
State of decay 2

Nintendo
Kirby
Yoshi
Fire emblem(it's a logo ppl can't get excited as much yet)
Bayonetta remasters(don't count I believe idk)
There's simply not much hype for what they have announced at the moment

The new Pokemon hasn't been officially announced yet, as in an actual title card.

Confirmation for me that 2018 is going to be a pretty awful year for games. The only title in the top 10 I will play is RDR2. Hopefully Nintendo surprises me later this month.

I don't get it myself. Go look at any YouTube video this list isn't far off if not spot on has nothing to do with some Sony era which is what ppl really are trying to say
Random YouTube videos likely have the same exclusion criteria. After this week games like Metroid Prime 4, Fire Emblem, Bayonetta 3 et al probably become part of the discussion in those too.

I have to say, this "Year of Sony" wank going on is a bit embarrassing. Like, you guys realize Nintendo and possibly Microsoft haven't revealed their lineups yet, right?

I do agree they seem on track to having another great year though. Hopefully GoW turns out better than it looks.

Edit: I'm referring to those declaring the "Year of Sony" as if there's an award or something. Those are the cringey ones.

MS already have three major titles for this year. That isn't to say they don't have more, but there was representation for them. Also, "year of Sony" =/= "not the year of Nintendo/MS".

I didn't vote but I am heading to the smallest carriage on the hype train with these guys.
96 The Alliance Alive 11

208 Persona Q2 1
The top 20 has a lot of things I'd likely be hyped for if I'd played their predecessors so if anything it makes my backlog heftier with all the catching up I have to do (I've never played RDR!) and it makes me really curious to see how the top 20 turns out. Dragon Quest and Octopath are day 1 buys though. I remember being really into the idea of Days Gone so maybe that hype will come back.

Well, games becoming more anticipated once they're announced or a release date is set is kind of part of the game.

Agreed, I was about to edit my post to reflect I'm referring to those declaring the "Year of Sony" as if there's an award or something. Those are the cringey ones.

Another excellent year although I don't know if 2017 can be topped, unless we get some surprise announcements and heavy hitters that fall within the 2018 timeframe, especially on the Switch front.

No More Heroes, Red Dead Redemption 2 (assuming they don't load it with micro-transactions), and Dreams have me hyped. As others have said, once Nintendo's plans firm up that list will be significantly longer.
