So are both games worth playing or is one favored over the other?

Revelations 2 is hugely superior imo. It's more complete, more creative, more surprising, and just feels like a more fleshed-out game generally, despite its obvious humble budget compared to the main games.

Revelations 1 is a little too goofy and indulgent for its own good. It's still a solid game, but there are some really weak sections (especially the Terragrigia scenes), and it doesn't quite hang together very well overall. The atmosphere aboard the ship is corking, though. And it has the much, much better Raid mode of the two games.

They're both worth buying imo. But if you only get one, get Revelations 2.

I have the same problem aiming in Revelations 2 that I have aiming in Skyrim using gyro in handheld mode only. Something about the horizontal axis feels very weird. I can't always make the reticule go where I want it to go, it needs me to move the Switch in a way that isn't intuitive. I don't have this problem in Zelda, nor in any 3DS ou Wii U game that I can remember. It works as expected in TV mode.

Just to be clear, I love motion controls in general. I always play PC games using the gyro of the Steam Controller or the Dualshock 4. It's just this specific implementation of these Switch games that I can't figure out while using handheld mode.

I haven't played Revelations 1 in handheld mode to compare.

Have you disabled auto aim? Dunno about Skyrim, haven't played that one yet.

100% this. As a long time fan of the series who's been there since the beginning and who can usually see the good in most I find little redeeming about the first Revelations. I was hot for it when it first came out but I think that was more the novelty of having a portable MT Framework game.

Revelations 2 being so solid (for its budget) didn't help my opinion of Revelations 1 either, which is just too nonsensical from a plot aspect and has a truly awful and forgettable supporting cast.

Although I think it's generally agreed around here that Revelations 1 has the superior Raid mode, whereas the Raid Mode in Revelations 2 is a bit grindier.

The Revelations switch collection sold 6k in japan last week

The vita version of Rev 2 sold 15k when it came out in japan so i don't know what capcom will think of this

Not sure what this means in terms of sales but both of them are on the NA eshop best sellers list right now. REV 2 at 12 and REV 1 is at 13.

Ok, you can describe REV1 supporting cast in many ways, but forgettable is not one of them. The cast is weird, quirky, sometimes stupid and overdesigned... Which makes them pretty memorable (whether that's a bad it good thing).

If anything, I would call Rev2 supporting cast as forgettable. Outside of the "mother of balls, my life is awesome" line, all the supporting TerraSave members are dull (both their designs and characters).

About my issue with the aiming while in handheld mode, I understood what is happening. It is indeed very different of how it works on Breath of the Wild and how I have being playing for years with the Steam Controller on PC. My muscle memory got fucked up. I'll try to explain below the differences between the aiming in Zelda and Resident Evil Relevations 2.

Just for the sake of an example, let's imagine that the Nintendo Switch is over a table, so it's aligned with the floor and the ceiling, and you want to aim to the left.

To do this in Zelda, the left joy-con needs to be fixed on the same point while the right joy-con will move anticlockwise around the left joy-con. Both joy-cons will still be in contact with the table.

In Resident Evil Revelations 2 and Skyrim, that doesn't work! To aim left you won't move the swich like the pointers of a clock, but instead the left joy-con will remain on the table while you rise the right joy-con. In the end the left joy-con will be on the table but the right joy-con will be inclined, like when you is changing the page of a book.

I don't know if I made myself clear. Right now this is really unplayable for me and I wish there was an option to change this. I can only gyro aim while in TV mode. I can probably adapt now that I know how it actually works, I'm just not sure if I want to do it. I guess it's easier to just play my PC version instead.

Edit: I also found this exact setting for this on the Steam Controller.

Yaw = Breath of The Wild
Roll = Skyrim and Resident Evil Revelations 2.

I have always used Yaw.

I played Rev 1 mostly in docked mode, with the Joycon grip and motion controls for aiming. Thought it worked very well. Tried the same settings in Rev 2 and the motion controls are WAY more sensitive. Is there something I'm missing?

Completed Rev 1. It was fun! Surprised how fast I beat it. Just under 6 hours. How Long To Beat had it clocked at an average of 9 hours for the main story. Didn't feel like I rushed. Maybe I missed stuff but didn't feel like I did.

Beat Revelations 1, just started infernal mode. It is brutal, no ammo anywhere and every enemy is a bullet sponge. Gotta work on dodging I guess.

Great game though. Way better than RE6 imo. Lovely controls as well.

Only thing that made sense on there was the region thing (Game has an ESRB logo but I'm in the UK) but the code didn't work when I switched to US either so <shrug>.

Weird. I guess give it a day or tw then return it or call Nintendo for another code/eShop credit.

Looks like. Hate download codes.

Yea, love infernal mode, with Revelation 2 had it.

Small niggle as well - I hate all the start up messages when you boot the game up.

Just put a little more than an hour into Revelations 1 and am really impressed! It both looks and feels great undocked and the game is really fun so far. Exactly what I was looking for. I'm so happy I put this on my Christmas list.

Do we still not know what the second code in the Japanese copy is for? The one that is clearly not an eShop download code (since those always start with B0....). Googling didn't bring up anything and it just drives me insane.

I just used the google translate app to translate what it says above the second number and this is what it came up with: "Control number: required for inquiries about downloading."

If someone else can read Japanese in here, you're welcome to translate this. I'll tag Rainrir since I'm pretty sure he understands Japanese.

Edit: I asked him on Discord and he said the same thing, it's sort of like a reference number when you call Customer Service (lol)

I got the game digitally, so I'm not sure. But maybe it's a code for bonus items on RE.net?

Rev 2 cast is mostly saved by Barry, Alex, Moira and Natalia but they are solid characters on their own (compared to other RE at least).
REV 1 has, well the last villain is forgetteable but was a solid final boss, Morgan is typical corrupt politician a Detective, weird looking suspicious guy, the boobs lady, the tits guy, black comedic relief, both blandest Jill and Chris ever, and that BSAA guy who was likeable.
REV1 has more characters but i can see why someone would prefer the sequel cast

Finally played through Revelations 2. Maybe I had low expectations but I felt that was a surprisingly strong RE game. It does quite a few things better than RE7 lol. Namely combat.

But then there's raid mode. And holy shit am I hooked. I made it my goal to get the 50 completion medals to unlock classic Claire. I think I'm at 30 ish lol. I seem to have my load out strategy down with Sniper, Shotty, Magnum. I'm tearing through these missions. I've got so much extra gold, don't know what to do with it.

I didn't get to play much of Rev 1 when it originally came out on 3DS but I'm loving it on Switch. There's a lot of moments in this game I've gotten to where I keep asking "this ran on a 3DS?!" haha

anyone know why the download code for Revelations 2 is two different 16 digit codes? and only the second one works? seems weird but as long as I got my game that's all that matters lol

Guys... I'm good at VGs, I swear!
But I also HATE loading times. With passion. God bless the Switch instant-resume and suspended mode.
With DOOM 2016 on base PS4 there were a bunch of times I was more than tempted to lower the difficulty level from Ultra Violence on my 1st pt. And it's the same reason I haven't played it much after buying it on Switch and going for Nightmare.

Now I'm facing the same difficulties.
It's painfully clear I SUCK at this game.
It's weird because I'm more than competent at RE4/5 Mercenaries and the first game Raid Mode, for example.

But playing in freaking Normal mode I've already died 8 times on the section where you put the cog in, all the cells open and you gotta let your sidekick open the door with the crowbar.
Doesn't seem I'm able to use the surroundings (blades machine and flamethrower in the room) like I would in RE4.
Even opening the cells after getting rid of lump guy, scream guy and beast guy all baiting them to the blades machine ain't enough. Only got 9 shotgun shells, 6 for the handgun and 2 molotov cocktails, also just the herb you can get in the room.

What am I missing?
Is normal just that hard compared to the average game? Should I lower to casual? I don't want to breeze through, but also don't wanna end up throwing the Switch in a moment of rage... I swear a lot of it it's the freakin' loading times and repeating checkpoints.

Suggestions?
Game seems a blast, waaay better than the first (tho at the time on 3DS it was hype).

Tried another couple times and failed. Yeah... putting this down until I (hopefully) get an answer to my post above.

There's a Resetera RE Discord mentioned a couple pages back to team up and play online on Switch, maybe try that?

You can use the flamethrower. Turn it towards the open door and you'll burn most of the enemies coming towards you. You have to turn on the gas line via the pipe near the wall.

It has been a while, but I created a bottle neck on the door to kill/damage as many as possible with the molotovs, then I killed the weak ones with melee only and saved the ammo for the tough guys.

I mentioned the ft in my post but I had no freakin idea I could move it!!?!
WHAT?! :-O
Gonna try that right now, thanks Nate!

Oh that is cool, thank you!

No prob!

This has been my main tactic so far but I failed miserably :(
Gonna try ND's suggestion, hopefully I'm fast enough in moving the flamer before I get swamped by those mommafuckers
