Wait, this game has an active OT? I finished the game a few days ago and actually wanted to open a LttP thread. Is that okay if a game has an active OT?

Oof, those Sunhi gifs are gorgeous. Thank you so much for that!

just bought both on psn, haven't played the first since the vita release but want to replay before I move on to 2

I own GR1 remastered on disk actually, but never took it out of the shrink wrap. I should stop doing that

We made an OT just because of the whole new site situation, if you want to make an LTTP go for it, the games been out for awhile, and you'll get more people reading what you say and sharing their opinions if you made a thread.

I see, thanks. I'm still writing everything down (I'm super slow at writing lol). I'll link the thread once I'm finished.

I start up my PS4, shift around a bit and suddenly 5 challenge results pop in. 4 won and 1 lost, which puts me at 6500 tokens. Finally, unlimited shifting.

Now to finally advance the story and get all the furniture, remaining gestures and whatnot.

1990 pts, waiting for the result of 4 sent challenges, found my first 2 treasure hunter apples in the world to (without doing a hunt), so my first sent out Treasure hunter hint pictures for that today.

Oh right, challenges. I thought treasure hunts.

I basically send all my challenges, good scores and bad scores. I need the tokens, too, you know. So if my best score beats yours, I'm happy.

I guess I was thinking more about the people in the Dusty Farming 2.0 group who were supposed to be working together to get tokens by intentionally tying challenge fights and what not. I had a few challenges where people would just attack one enemy and then relent, and I tied them as expected, and then a bunch of challenges where people would just attack everything in sight and I'd realize too late.

I don't want to be a dick so I don't really want to do that to other people intentionally but it's the classic prisoner's dilemma where I'm probably going to have to start being cutthroat with challenges if I don't want to constantly take losses.

The main things from the original that are important.
How the original place Kat is from works, there's a top area, bottom area, and area between them, but's not likethe area in GR2 with the rich, poor, and middle class.
Some of Kat's origins is in 1
Who Alias is.
Who Syd and Raven are and what their story is.
Cynthia

I don't think any of these are really explaiend well in 2 to people who have never played the first.

It's only been a year and a half since I played it, but I'm not remembering parts of 1 as well as I thought, so thanks for reminding me to go read a summary before I get further in 2!

I finally platinumed this yesterday. Such a lovely game! I really liked how colorful and full of life the world in this is. Even without making any progress whatsoever, you can enjoy yourself by taking silly pictures and sharing them, like the pictures I took with Raven or when I hijacked flying cars. The old place had a photo mode OT, but since this one doesn't I'll just post a link to my good pictures here: https://imgur.com/a/4opJJ
Here are four (much more at the link):

Oh, and by the way:
Upon completion I started up Gravity Rush Remastered again for a few minutes, and found out that Kali's costume is based on an early Kat design, and the last area of GR2 was featured in concept art in GR1: https://imgur.com/a/Cpc8s

I guess I can see where you're coming from. It's a shame the game doesn't outright gives you the score or time to beat before the challenge starts.

In my case I don't have any friends on PSN anyway, so I only get the challenges where someone performs on their own level.

Speaking of opponents in challenge missions: I get most of my challenge wins from time trials and I sometimes get the feeling some of my opponents don't know how to abuse the gravity system. I see them running and sliding around and I wonder what they're doing. In a race, even on the ground, I rarely use Gravity Slide unless the game forces me to. Shifting gravity and pushing the X button in the direction of the goal makes Kat go much faster and unlike Remastered, GR2 doesn't seem to be too bad about the accuracy with which you have to hit the targets. It's in those challenges I get most of my wins over other people.

The Rift Plane Vitality Race of Remastered (part of the Spy Pack) was great training in that regard. I almost broke my controller in frustration trying to beat that challenge. But in hindsight, it did learn me how to move around as fast as possible.

This is what I'm talking about:

Just started this up. I should be fine for 6000 Dusty Tokens before the server shutdown if I simply do the treasure hunts, right? I read it's 4-5 every 12 hours, and at 80 tokens each, that should get me 6k in just under 10 days.

I just logged in and got the last 1000 dusty tokens I needed (and 600 to spare), yay. That was easier than I thought. I'll try to get all of the furniture from treasure chests as well. I'm happy I played the game before the servers went down. This has been a cool experience. It feels really good when you see someone else was able to find a treasure chest based on your picture hint, and when you get a photo review.

How do you go about maxing out all of Kat's powers? I beat the game and got gold in every challenge and I'm still only at 100% in maybe two of the categories but like 60 in the rest.

Just got the Unimited Potential gem, the community was definitely the way to go.

Went from about 2000 to 6000 in less than 24 hours.

I was lucky too that one of the photos I submitted early December was rated nice 7 times and another photo 3 times.

Keep playing until you unlock the camera and challenges. Challenges will pop up as you complete missions as well. You will get 4 treasure hunts per 12 hours until finishing ch20 where it increases to 8.
Rate photos, get photos rated, compete in challenges etc

You really don't need to farm tokens. There's still time until servers shut down. Just keep playing the game, send challenges, accept challenges, rate photos, find treasures as you get them and you'll have all tokens before the end of the game.

Sunhi pls.

Guys, I'm going to be picking the game up soon and I know the servers close in a couple of weeks so I wouldn't be able to collect tokens if I wait. But what exactly does this lock me out of getting/ doing?
The biggest thing is a couple of costumes and a gem that gives you unlimited gravity juice at the cost of reduced damage output. Aside from that, the treasure hunts are one of my favourite parts of the game.

You won't get 3 costumes but two of them are kinda meh since they are only small variations of costumes you can get anyway.

You can't do treasure hunts which is the biggest shame, it's pretty fun. Also won't be able to compete on challenges with other people.

There are some smaller rewards also but they are pretty much forgettable.

Okay, that doesn't sound so bad, I guess the gem would be useful if I was looking to 100% or something. Not too bothered about the costumes after looking them up. Thanks.

I'd say the gem is the only reason to really go for them, the worker uniform is very nice but it doesn't need many so if you don't want the gem I wouldn't worry about going any further than that.

I have owned the game since Day One but it got in line behind Yakuza...which got behind BOTW. Which got behind etc etc etc. I haven't even started it up yet.

Losing access to these items would eat me alive if I started the game in the future. I am sure this has been answered but is this a strenuous grind? Do I need to ignore the actual game and chase coins?

So I 'finished' the game, aka the credits rolled. I spoke to the glowing girl and unlocked chapter 21. It's late so I had to stop there for today, but man, that last part of the game was a LOT of fun. My adrenalin is still pumping. I'll wrap up the rest tomorrow.

I had some issues with the pacing by the time I was a little ways into Heskeville, but the ending redeemed it. I can't wait to return to the world and finish up the side quests I have left over, after I catch up with a couple of other games. I'm missing some costumes, so I'm guessing they're rewards from side quests.

It's not a grind at all. Even with casual play, you can get the maximum of tokens needed (6000) within little more than a week. Everyone is playing the game right now, so there's a lot of activity.

As long as you do the daily treasure hunts, complete challenge missions (always upload your results) and rate other people's photos, you will be fine. I would argue doing this is not ignoring the game, it's playing the game the way it's meant to be played. Explore, experiment and have fun.

The more I play the game, the more I feel Sony, or whoever made the decision to shut down the servers, is robbing the game of gameplay elements that are more than just a fun extra.

I did a challenge mission that was a competition involving me and 3 other ghosts of players yesterday. I did not know there were other challenge missions than to beat a single ghost, that's pretty cool.
Yes, I finished last, of course I finished last.

School 1.0's not bad, either. You'll also need at least 4,000 to not miss out on any gestures for photos/just messing around (may as well go for it, since you'll get additional ones as treasure hunt and side mission rewards along the way). Shifter 1.0 and the Unlimited Potential talisman are more about bragging rights and completionism than anything else, though.

But yeah, I can agree that this hasn't felt like a grind to me (as I commented once, it's gone far more smoothly than expected, even without joining up with a dedicated farming group).

I got 1000 tokens today and I only played an hour or so. Aside from the treasure hunts, most of that time was spent doing a story mission. Seriously, once you sent a bunch of challenges and treasure hints, the tokens will roll in by themselves. Maybe not at first, but once you upgraded some of your abilities and get better at the game, you'll start to notice a difference.

That said, none of my photos has been rated yet, at least not as nice. I've been dilligently uploading them at popular spots, but no luck so far. Meanwhile, I got to rate a photo by someone (or, well, their Kat) wearing the PSO costume. I was tempted to give it the lesser rating, but I guess that would be petty. I'm honestly not sure what annoys me about that outfit. Maybe it's the leg guards.

Also ran into another two random apples in the span of five minutes. I wasn't even looking for them anymore, they just seemed to pop up in front of me as I practiced my jumping.

Jumping? Well, I just unlocked Lunar style and man, it plays totally different. I think there's a lot of potential there, but I will need a lot of practice. Wall jumping through the streets is fun, though.

Oh, and Wormhole Kick > Gravity Kick. I can't deal with the latter at all in this game. The targeting circle acts way too erratic, making me fly over enemies all the time, even ones that hardly move. At least the former seems to home in on enemies and you can chain easier.

Lunar style in places with lots of walls and stuff to bounce off is fun. I also really like it just to super jump occasionally.

There was a while that I got used to finding apples. It was an odd thing, sort of like getting used to finding Waldo even when you're not trying to. Those hidden artworks though... I think I found one by myself? It was virtually given to me gift wrapped though as I followed a trial of crystals into a dead end!

Gravity Kick does a bit more damage I think and sometimes you just want the charging kick feeling. I sort of like them all to be honest, it adds some much needed variety.

I have to say, that part with the... uh, let's call it "ice queen" (to remain as vague as possible) dragged on for fucking ever and I hated it. Lowest point of the game for me.
The creator is notorious for sacrificing gameplay to involve feelings or prove a point. Just look at Silent Hill 2's first pyramid head encounter.

2700 dusty tokens for the first 48 hrs, however something weird has happened, I've finished chapter 10, but I have NOT picked up or started chapter 11, I'm still waiting for Treasure Hunt reset and so on since yesterday night (14+ hrs ago) noting yet.

Have I done something wrong to make it this?

Edit:
Reset came 4 hrs later then expected. strange.
