Can't see those embedded twitter links using mobile safari.
Someone posted about that in this thread couple of weeks ago.
Any known solutions?

Thanks

I got an iPhone 8+ when it first released using the Apple Upgrade program. But I really wish I had waited and gotten an X. I love how small they are without losing any screen real estate.

Looking forward to switching over this fall (but really hoping they give that notch the axe!)

You didn't think you could have a larger screen size with the a smaller frame, did you? Edge to edge the phone is larger. However, it's at the expense of phone width. X is still a gorgeous phone and feels really nice in the hands (ladies).

Anecdotally, one of the bigger selling points I've heard behind the X > 8+ has been "the phone is smaller but the screen is bigger." I guess it's true in someways, but not completely. Good to know.

I especially notice the smaller space when typing, as the narrow screen size squishes the keyboard a fair amount. If you have larger thumbs you'll definetely notice the difference.

Few months into iPhone X.

I changed my mind and would do away with the notch tbh. It's not that annoying but the novelty wears off fast and there are minor nuisances that come with it. I'd rather have Apple spreading those sensors horizontally, creating a thinner-than the-notch uniform top bezel that would give us a proper status bar back.

I'm convinced that the biggest problem with that is that it would look a lot like one of the more recent Galaxies. Could still point out the lack of bezel on the bottom though (although the Galaxy will probably also get that sooner or later). So yeah, branding. But it comes a bit at the expense of the user experience.

Of course we'd rather not have the notch. But I prefer it over the other solutions. It's extra screen space. Apple could just black out the whole horizontal area the notch occupies, but they didn't. That's what the other companies do, essentially.

I get that argument and I defend it myself. What I'm saying is that I'd be in favour or spreading those sensors in the notch more thinly over the whole width, if that would be possible. Otherwise yeah, it would be pointless, but then fix the status bar with software. Let it be below the ears. Because it's an ironically negative side effect of creating more real estate.

i just feel like I'm not on top of my phone's status so much anymore - i.e. if it kicked into DND or not, if it has bluetooth headphones paired, if it's still connected to the VPN, and so forth - without swiping up and down frequently.

I thought the little cutaway illustrations show the components already side by side - so the notch is as thin as it could be. Spreading them further apart would just give you a top bezel the size of the notch.

So tomorrow's the last day you can add AppleCare+ if you received your X on launch.

Honestly not sure what to do. I'm most likely going to upgrade again this year and I use both case/screen protector, so I should be good until the 2018 phones come out. But then again, shit happens.

If you sell next year you can get a refund for half your AC+ so you'd only pay for the year you use. (Or sell the phone with AC+ included for a stronger selling price)

The iPhone X has ruined all displays for me including my 2015 MacBook Pro and that's mainly because of TrueTone. I hated it when I first saw it in stores and wondered why anyone wanted to make their screen more yellow, but after using it it just feels natural and my Mac looks so blue in comparison.

Of course, it's also really sharp. The pixel count on the X isn't too far off from my 15" screen.

So my iPhone X was acting really strange yesterday. It was always hot to the touch and the battery drained in less than 4 hours. It then wouldn't charge past 90%. I turned it off and on again and it seems to have fixed the problem. It's no longer hot and the battery life is back to being excellent. How strange

Not that strange, you likely just had an app running in the background that wasn't turning off. Perhaps something using location services?

That's the True Tone setting. It changes the tone of the screen depending on the lighting in the environment. You can turn it off somewhere in the Settings.

Yeah I've tried to turn off. True Tone and then it's horrifically blue. I've never experienced this with any mobile phone before

So I have this really dumb question. If Face ID is not working (due to my position, clothing or whatever else) how can I read my lockscreen notifications? If I unlock the screen with passcode by swiping to go home I'll go to the home screen... which I both don't want to, and it will automatically clear some notifications as far as I'm aware.

Also, groovy little bug:

Damn, I never realized how much ads slow down loading and performance until I installed a content blocker. Safari's pretty much flying now.

I expect battery life to improve too. 90% of my time is spent browsing Safari.

It should prompt you for your Passcode if Face ID fails the auth. Just tried myself, tapping a notification while being face covered and a "Use Passcode" button appears in the middle of the screen followed by the digit pad when it fails.

But then I will pop right into the app of that notification, right?

Is everyone else in the newest firmware experiencing shit battery life? If not I think my X is faulty. Drains battery life like nothing I've ever seen before.

Went from a 7 to the X last week. Love it. My fiancée took my 7 and when I was setting it up for her i was shocked at how bad the screen seemed. It felt like I was using my old 3G. Crazy how quick I adapted to it as well; kept swiping up instead of using the home button

So I haven't heard anything regarding Meltdown/Spectre vulnerability on iOS devices. Has this been partially patched already as macOS was, or is iOS still wide open to attack?
