I was wondering a couple of days ago what the fuck was going on with that so this is nice to hear. Have they even gotten the second one out on the PC yet?

They announced that the remasters would be coming to the Xbox One a couple years ago, but said they were still evaluating other platforms but couldn't confirm anything when asked about releasing them on PS4, so I guess it's still a possibility.

It came out last March.

Took about two years, but it is nice to see some progress on Turok.

From what it seems like though, they were currently aiming for just Xbox at the moment.

Turok: Dinosaur Hunter is a genuinely great game. It is fast and fluid. The game drips atmosphere. It has this driving pulsing soundtrack that pushes you forward. It was the first FPS game with motion captured animations, I believe. The remaster is very well done.

Turok 2? I have issues. My main problem with Turok 2's remaster was glaringly incorrect graphical elements, such as the flashlight being the wrong colour and being the completely wrong kind of dynamic light compared to the original, the weird looking HUD textures, and the fact they omitted the weapon wheel from the game that introduced weapon wheels. Also the fact they enabled this glaring bloom and searing lighting by default that completely destroyed the original game's moody atmosphere. It was optional, sure, but it shouldn't have been enabled by default. I hope that the console port revises these elements because the Turok 2 remaster is just bleh out of the box currently.

Also, Turok 2 is an overall... kind of unfocused game. It's good, but there's a lot of meandering. A lot of cookie cutter level design.

Then there's Turok 3. The game that deserves a remaster more than any of the others due to its broken release. That game is very interesting. Things went bad during its development. There is so much broken. Things that were not broken in the prototype cartridges a few months before release. Like, the first elevator doorway you encounter bleeds when you stab it. I don't know why. The game was clearly rushed out the door. All the Turok games were rushed. That's why the NTSC version of Turok 2 for N64 had those glaring bugs. But Turok 3 has a strange charm to it that could massaged into a genuinely decent game via a remaster.

Sign me up! Hope this is a remaster on the level of something like Crash Bandicoot or Shadow of the Colossus.

I thought this was Turok reboot for half a second and did a double take.

I have fond memories of seeing the sixty trillion used copies of Turok Evolution that nobody wanted to buy in the early-mid 2000's at EB.

Awesome, I've been waiting for this. Hopefully Turok 2 isn't too far along either, and with online multiplayer.

I had all four N64 Turoks, but for the life of me I can't really remember anything about the first one.

lmao, Turok sucks hard, the game doesn't hold up at all. Seriously, go play it. The game is just horrible.
I disagree completely. The first game holds up exceptionally well, and the remaster buffs off the rough edges. I personally think it was a Quake clone that was better than Quake. More fluid. Turok 1 and 2 have some of the best feeling gunplay in FPS history. Both Turok games have overwhelmingly positive scores on Steam, so I think I'm not alone in my appraisal.

That said, you are very much allowed to disagree. But you should probably elaborate a bit.

I don't know man, the levels are basically blurry brown and green mazes with 20 yards of visibility and consist of "find x keys to move on". It's just plain hard to look at nowadays and it was a chore to play through with that awful draw distance. Keep in mind my memory is of the N64 Turok:

Not going to lie, the thread title made me think they were remastering last gen's Turok. I forgot they'd remastered the original. I don't think I'll bother.

I enjoyed the last-gen one for what it was, but couldn't figure out how to damage its final boss.

Just looked up for some news about this port and I completely missed this. Is there any confirmation the game will be released next week?

Are they working on Turok 3 at all? That didn't get a PC version back in the day so it's the one that should have been remastered first.

According to the programmer on AGDQ 2018 turok 2 stream, its a whole new engine...not just a PC version fix up job. Explains the delay.

As someone who bought Turok Dinosaur Hunter at its RRP of £69.99(!) when it released on the N64... I'm ok with buying Turok again.

Turok 1 remaster was amazing. The game was much more fast paced with highter fov and framerate. You really felt like a badass hunter going around the woods killing dinosaurs and time travelers. I also love that it had a native american protagonist.
